| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA
To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Laidlow
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Laidlow, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Laidlow.
How does a metal roof handle Laidlow's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Laidlow averages about 60 cm of snow annually with roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cause traditional shingles to curl and crack. Interlock panels expand and contract uniformly without trapping moisture, and their four-way interlocking system prevents water infiltration during thaw cycles. The lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural stress from accumulated snow load, and you can add snow guards if needed for safety without worrying about roof weakening.
Does metal roofing perform well in Laidlow's rainy climate?
Yes—Laidlow receives about 2305 mm of rain annually, and metal roofing's interlocking four-way panel design actively sheds water faster than asphalt. Unlike shingles that absorb moisture and degrade, aluminum's oxide layer is waterproof and self-heals when scratched, maintaining integrity through decades of wet winters. Proper installation over a solid deck and underlayment prevents any leakage; the ICC-ES ESR-1790 rating confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water management standards. Combined with the Guardian Warranty covering perforation and rust (which aluminum cannot experience), you eliminate the leak concerns that plague traditional roofs in high-rainfall regions.
Will metal roofing hold up to Laidlow's coastal wind gusts?
Absolutely. Laidlow experiences gusts up to 106 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineered redundancy, combined with aluminum's light weight and rigidity, means gusts that might lift shingles simply shed around the panels. Class 4 hail rating and wind warranty together make this the right choice for the Pacific Northwest's variable coastal weather.
Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a wet climate?
Steel rusts; aluminum cannot. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with no iron content, so oxidation is impossible. The self-healing oxide layer actually protects the metal if scratched. All panels receive Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides—critical in Laidlow's 2305 mm annual rainfall—with a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM standards. Steel alternatives require constant maintenance, rust repairs, and shorter lifespans. In 27+ years of installation from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, aluminum has proven maintenance-free; steel would fail.
Does metal roofing reduce hail damage and insurance premiums?
Interlock meets UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches—a level of protection asphalt cannot match. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your carrier for specifics in Laidlow. With 2789 annual sunshine hours and freeze-thaw stress at 38 days per year, asphalt becomes brittle and vulnerable to hail damage. Metal's non-combustible rating (Class A fire available) plus impact resistance makes it a lower-risk bet for insurers, translating to real savings over the roof's 50+ year life.
How long does a metal roof last compared to asphalt shingles?
Interlock aluminum roofing lasts 50+ years with proper installation, while asphalt typically needs replacement every 15-25 years. Laidlow's harsh conditions—2305 mm rain, 60 cm snow, gusts to 106 km/h, and 38 freeze-thaw days annually—accelerate asphalt degradation. The Guardian Warranty, with its lifetime limited coverage for the original owner and 50-year transferable term, reflects aluminum's real-world performance: no rust, no rot, no splits from freeze-thaw stress. Over a typical 60-year ownership span, you'll replace asphalt 2-4 times but install metal just once, making the math compelling.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost versus asphalt?
Over 50 years, metal roofing is far cheaper than repeated asphalt replacements. Asphalt needs replacement every 15-25 years, meaning 2-3 cycles in that span, plus maintenance and emergency repairs. Interlock's lifetime warranty and aluminum's corrosion immunity eliminate those costs. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, lowering the entry cost. In Laidlow's wet, freeze-thaw climate (38 freeze-thaw days annually, 2305 mm rain), asphalt failure accelerates. You're not comparing first costs; you're comparing total cost of ownership. Metal wins decisively when calculated over the roof's actual life.
Can my house structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it adds minimal load. Even the heavier Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to traditional tile or slate. This light weight means installation can go directly over most existing roofs, saving tear-off costs. Given Laidlow's 60 cm annual snowfall and gusts to 106 km/h, the aluminum's rigidity actually distributes loads more efficiently than heavy materials that concentrate stress at fastening points. Your roof frame stays intact; your energy bills and insurance risk both improve.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require in a wet climate?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt that breaks down in Laidlow's 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw days, aluminum requires no sealant reapplication, no shingle replacement, and no repairs from curling or splitting. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance burden. Gutters and flashing may need occasional cleaning given the region's 2789 sunshine hours and leaf fall, but the roof itself is self-maintaining. Alunar coating (30-year warranty against fading) protects both panel sides, so even scratches don't expose bare aluminum. This difference—zero active maintenance versus ongoing asphalt care—compounds over decades, freeing your time and budget.
