Review: February 14, 2024Completion: February 1, 2024

On the first night, I heard some weird dripping noises in the walls. I emailed a video to the sales guys because I didn't have anyone else's email. I never heard back. The leak when it occurred was in a different part of the house, so I guess it's just fine, but it would a have been nice to know if it was leaking inside the walls or something. It's nerve wracking replacing a roof in this climate at this time of year, and I would have been happy to wait for better weather. Good product, good people

Review: February 19, 2020Completion: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Review: March 8, 2018Completion: February 24, 2018

I will not recommend, but I will give the the option of Interlock Roofing to other people needing a roof. I think Interlock Roofing could improve on cooperating with the customer more for delivering materials and the start time. The original time frame was 3-4 days. It took over a week to get the project done because of weather. They could improve their issue with communication with the installers. Not all of the installers spoke English. If I had to do it over again, then I would not.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hogans Corner

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hogans Corner, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hogans Corner.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Washington's wet climate?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents the adhesion that creates dangerous ice dams. Hogans Corner receives about 60 cm of snow annually alongside 2305 mm of rain and roughly 38 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that stress traditional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels (ESR-1790 rated) lock together so tightly that wind-driven snow and meltwater cannot penetrate seams. The panels' light weight (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even in heavy accumulation, and you can add snow guards if desired for aesthetic or safety reasons.

With 2300+ mm of annual rainfall, will a metal roof leak in Hogans Corner?

No. Heavy rainfall actually demonstrates metal roofing's superiority—water runs off immediately rather than soaking into granules or wood fiber. Hogans Corner's 2305 mm annual precipitation is managed by aluminum's impermeability: the panels are solid 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy with no porous layers. The four-way interlocking design (verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790) creates overlapping seams that direct water downward and outward. Installation over solid decking with approved underlayment creates a fail-safe system. Unlike asphalt, which degrades as rain cycles through freeze-thaw, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, maintaining its water barrier for decades.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, especially in wet climates?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. When aluminum is exposed to moisture, it forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal and self-heals if scratched. This is why Interlock panels, manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, have been installed in coastal salt-air homes and even an Antarctic research station. Hogans Corner's 2305 mm annual rainfall and 106 km/h wind gusts mean moisture-laden air is constant; aluminum's natural protection requires no active maintenance. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against fading) adds a second protective barrier, ensuring the roof outperforms steel by decades.

Can a metal roof withstand Hogans Corner's wind gusts and storms?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Hogans Corner experiences typical daily winds of about 15 km/h with gusts reaching 106 km/h, well within the warranty range. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design was verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation, ensuring code compliance for high-wind regions. Grays Harbor County's exposure means you benefit from engineering proven in the most demanding Pacific Northwest conditions—the panels won't lift, separate, or fail under the storm pressures your climate regularly delivers.

Will hail damage affect my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the roof resists impact from 2-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet, a standard far exceeding what hail, windblown debris, or falling branches can inflict. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your insurer with the UL 2218 rating and ESR-1790 evaluation report. In Hogans Corner's maritime climate with frequent winter storms, the combination of impact resistance and a lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) means you're protected from both weather damage and the repair costs that plague asphalt roofs.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over time?

Metal roofing is worth the investment because it is the last roof you will buy. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in Hogans Corner's harsh climate of rain, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles; Interlock's aluminum roof is warranted for the lifetime of the original owner (transferable 50 years to the next owner) under the Guardian Warranty. Over a 50-year period, you avoid multiple tear-offs, landfill costs, and installation labor—expenses that far exceed the initial premium. The roof also qualifies for current promotions: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Lighter weight means no structural reinforcement, further reducing total project cost. The published solar-reflectance listing (up to 0.55 solar reflectance on cooler colors) reduces cooling costs during the 2789 annual sunshine hours.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Non-prorated means you make no deductible claim in year 1 or year 40—the same coverage applies throughout your ownership. The warranty is transferable once; the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the installation date. This unmatched protection reflects the durability of roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) and the 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF coating warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). No other roof—asphalt, wood, or traditional tile—offers this level of security in a wet, freeze-thaw environment like Hogans Corner.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt or wood shakes. Asphalt degrades under Hogans Corner's 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw cycles; wood rots and splits in wet climates. Aluminum never rots or splits because it contains no organic material—just solid, non-porous metal. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years, meaning the roof maintains its appearance without refinishing or coating reapplication. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection of fasteners (if any visible debris accumulates) are sufficient. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance requirements, Interlock panels require no sealant replacement, no granule re-application, and no fear of storm damage requiring emergency tarps—conditions common with asphalt in this climate.

Can my existing house structure support a metal roof, or will I need expensive reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum is exceptionally light—the Slate and Shingle profiles install at approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake at 0.58, and the Mediterranean Tile (which replicates traditional clay and concrete tile) at just 0.59 lb/sq ft. That tile profile is about 96% lighter than actual clay or concrete tile, so it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional support. This is verified in ICC-ES ESR-1790, which permits installation over wood or asphalt substrates. Contrast this with traditional slate or tile roofs, which require reinforced framing and tens of thousands in structural work. In Hogans Corner, where 60 cm annual snowfall adds temporary weight, the light aluminum profile means your roof system handles precipitation loads without strain, and you avoid costly engineering and construction delays.

What profile options does Interlock offer to match my home's architectural style?

Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates a traditional aesthetic while delivering aluminum's durability. The Slate profile suits modern and contemporary homes; Cedar Shingle and Shake appeal to craftsman and heritage styles; Mediterranean Tile complements southwestern and European architecture; Standing Seam works for industrial and modern designs. All are manufactured from the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum with Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) and are available in multiple colors. Installation across Grays Harbor County since 1997 by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. ensures the profile you choose is proven in local conditions. Each style carries the same lifetime limited warranty, Class A fire rating availability, and UL 2218 Class 4 impact protection.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Hogans Corner’s climate?

Yes. Hogans Corner averages about 60 cm of snow, 2305 mm of rain, roughly 38 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 106 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
