Review: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Review: March 27, 2024

To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tulips

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Tulips, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Tulips.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Tulips, Washington?

Aluminum panels shed snow efficiently because of their smooth, sloped surface and four-way interlocking design that prevents water infiltration—critical in a region that receives about 60 cm of snow annually alongside 2305 mm of rain. The panels themselves weigh only 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, so snow load never requires structural reinforcement. Ice dams form when heat escapes through the roof; metal reflects rather than absorbs heat, reducing the melt-and-refreeze cycle that plagues asphalt in freeze-thaw climates like yours, which experiences roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year.

Why won't my metal roof rust like steel roofs do?

Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron—the element that corrodes into rust. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals scratches automatically, providing passive protection in wet, salt-prone environments. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides of every panel adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, measured by ASTM standards. For a region averaging 2305 mm annual rainfall and coastal-proximity conditions, this dual-layer defense eliminates the rust risk that steel roofing carries over its lifespan.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Tulips' winter wind gusts?

The four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above the typical gusts in your region, which average 106 km/h (66 mph) during peak conditions. Interlock's design creates mechanical bonds between adjacent panels so that wind cannot lift or separate them, and each panel locks in four directions to distribute pressure loads. With ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 and UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the system meets or exceeds building codes for this windier Pacific Northwest climate. Once properly fastened, the roof acts as a unified shield rather than individual shingles that can peel away.

Does a metal roof help with insurance costs after a hailstorm?

Yes—Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating is the highest available and covers hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. Many insurers reduce premiums for Class 4 roofing because the aluminum's hardness and the four-way interlocking design prevent the punctures and denting that compromise asphalt shingles. In a region with variable spring and fall weather like Grays Harbor County, a non-degrading roof eliminates the claim cycle and proof-of-loss documentation that follows impact damage. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty even covers perforation from hail, transferring 50 years of protection to the next owner, which further supports your home's insurability over decades.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and does it transfer to the next owner?

The Guardian warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductibles. It transfers once to the next owner for a full 50 years from completion, meaning a roof installed today will carry active protection through 2074 and still hold value at resale. In contrast, asphalt shingles typically degrade within 15–20 years in wet climates like Tulips, which receives about 2305 mm rain and 60 cm snow annually, requiring replacement before any equity transfer. This transferability is rare in roofing and directly reflects the 3105-H24 aluminum alloy's resistance to the moisture, freeze-thaw cycles (38 days per year in your region), and UV exposure that age conventional materials.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock aluminum requires essentially no maintenance beyond occasional visual inspection—no patching, no re-coating, no wood treatment, and no tar-based sealants to reapply. Asphalt shingles degrade from UV and moisture exposure, particularly in your 2789 annual sunshine hours and high-rainfall environment (2305 mm/year), requiring repairs or full replacement every 15–20 years. Wood shake or cedar shake demands annual inspection, pest treatment, and moss control in the 38 freeze-thaw days per year that encourage growth. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating has a 30-year warranty against fading and chalking (ASTM D4214/D2244), so you'll never pay for recoating or stripping. Rain simply runs off aluminum, unlike asphalt, which absorbs moisture and deteriorates from beneath.

Can a metal roof be installed over my existing asphalt shingles?

Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh only 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—they install directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. This approach saves labor and landfill waste. Your installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., which has served this region since 1997, can assess your deck for any soft spots or damage, then install a solid underlayment and flashing over the existing layer. The four-way interlocking system means each new panel locks in place without relying on the condition of the old shingles beneath. Installation typically takes days rather than weeks, minimizing exposure to Tulips' frequent rainfall (2305 mm annually) and avoiding the cost and environmental impact of a full tear-off and haul-away.

What do Interlock metal roofing styles look like, and how do they differ?

Interlock offers five profiles: Slate replicates split-stone elegance; Cedar Shingle mimics hand-split cedar with grain detail; Shake suggests thicker, irregular wood; Mediterranean Tile echoes traditional curved clay; and Standing Seam provides a modern ribbed aesthetic. Each profile maintains the same core advantages—the four-way interlocking aluminum construction, 30-year Alunar coating warranty, and lightweight design. Slate and Cedar Shingle suit traditional Pacific Northwest homes; Shake works for rustic or farmhouse styles; Mediterranean Tile suits craftsman or coastal architecture; and Standing Seam fits contemporary designs. All profiles are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy and come in a range of colors, including energy-efficient options for heat reflection in your 2789 annual sunshine hours.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life and requires no tear-off or landfill disposal—ending the cycle that traps asphalt in dumps for centuries. Asphalt shingles, which typically last 15–20 years in wet climates like Tulips (2305 mm annual rainfall), become landfill waste that leaches chemicals for generations. Because aluminum doesn't degrade from moisture, freeze-thaw cycles (38 per year in your region), or UV exposure (2789 sunshine hours), the same roof can remain functional for 50+ years, reducing replacement frequency dramatically. The panels are manufactured in Delta, BC, using established processes, and every panel is fully recyclable. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs, which eliminates the chemical treatments, sealants, and replacement debris that asphalt generates over its service life.

How does a metal roof handle Tulips' heavy rainfall without leaks?

Interlock's four-way interlocking design creates mechanical seals between panels that prevent water infiltration—each panel overlaps and locks to its neighbors in four directions, so water cannot find a path underneath. When combined with a solid deck and proper underlayment and flashing (standard in professional installation), the system achieves asphalt-level water tightness without reliance on sealants or caulk that degrade over time. In a region averaging 2305 mm of rain annually, this mechanical redundancy is crucial; flashing at valleys, eaves, and penetrations is engineered to shed water according to ICC-ES ESR-1790 building code compliance. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs moisture and deteriorates from within, aluminum panels remain impermeable—water simply runs off. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. installs flashing and underlayment to manufacturer spec, ensuring your roof handles Tulips' heavy rainfall season without ponding or seepage.
