Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Gray Gables, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]
It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Gray Gables
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Gray Gables, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Gray Gables.
Does a metal roof handle Gray Gables' heavy snow and ice buildup?
Yes—aluminum's ultralight weight and smooth profiles shed snow effectively without the structural strain that slate or concrete tile would impose. Gray Gables receives about 60 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 38 freeze-thaw cycles per year, creating conditions where traditional heavy materials trap ice and moisture. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels, when installed to spec, warrant wind resistance up to 120 mph, and the Slate, Cedar Shingle, and Shake profiles all direct water and snow load away from seams. The lack of wood substrate means no rot from trapped melt-water—a critical advantage in your climate.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in the damp Pacific Northwest?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that naturally repairs itself when scratched or exposed. In Gray Gables' wet climate with 2305 mm of annual rainfall, that natural protection is paired with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The dual-sided coating is especially valuable in salt-air or high-moisture regions; it means the underside stays protected too. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998.
Can metal roofing survive the wind gusts common in Grays Harbor County?
Absolutely. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, far exceeding the typical 106 km/h gusts recorded in Gray Gables. The four-way interlocking panel design distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. Your region's average daily winds of about 15 km/h with occasional stronger gusts mean the system handles normal conditions with complete margin for safety. The interlocking geometry also seals panel joints tighter under wind pressure, not looser—the opposite of how shingles behave.
Will my home need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?
No. Interlock panels are extraordinarily light—the Cedar Shingle profile installs at roughly 0.41 lb per square foot, and even the Mediterranean Tile, the heaviest profile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft. This makes aluminum approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is necessary. In Gray Gables' climate with 60 cm of annual snow and 38 freeze-thaw days, that lightweight design is a real advantage: less load means less strain during seasonal moisture cycles and snow events. The panels install over existing roofs in most cases, eliminating the cost and mess of a full tear-off.
How long does an Interlock metal roof last, and what's actually covered?
The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—meaning no deductibles rise over time—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from installation, a major asset when selling. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, your roof is protected through decades of Gray Gables' 2789 annual sunshine hours and 2305 mm of rain. This warranty structure means you're buying your last roof, not planning a replacement in 15–20 years.
How much work is a metal roof compared to asphalt or wood shakes?
Metal requires far less maintenance. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection and replacement of damaged pieces; wood shakes demand annual cleaning, treatment, and re-staining to prevent rot—a serious issue in Gray Gables with 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock aluminum is verified by CALGreen for reduced maintenance. The Alunar coating resists algae and lichen growth, and the smooth metal surface sheds debris naturally. You don't seal, stain, or replace sections. Gutters and flashing still need occasional clearing, but the roof itself is passive—no more climbing up to scrub moss or replace cracked shakes every decade.
Is a metal roof really more fire-resistant than asphalt?
Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock offers Class A fire classification—the highest rating under building codes. This means your roof will not ignite, flame spread, or contribute fuel to a fire, even in wildfire-adjacent areas. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC and IRC fire standards. While Gray Gables' primary climate risk is moisture and wind rather than wildfire, Class A rating often reduces homeowner's insurance premiums and provides peace of mind that your roof will never be a fire hazard. Combined with the non-combustible aluminum substrate, this is one of the safest roofing choices available.
Who installs Interlock roofs in Gray Gables, and how long have they been around?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves your region and has been installing in the Pacific Northwest since 1997—over 25 years of local experience. The parent company has manufactured aluminum roofing-grade panels in Delta, BC, since 1998, so your installer understands both the product's engineering and Gray Gables' specific climate demands: the 60 cm annual snow, 2305 mm rain, and 106 km/h gusts. Right now, the region's promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Choosing a long-standing local installer means they know local building codes, your area's soil and weather patterns, and will be around for warranty support.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over the roof's full life, yes. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years and grows weaker in Gray Gables' wet climate with 2305 mm rain and 38 annual freeze-thaw cycles that accelerate granule loss and cracking. Metal costs more initially but lasts multiple asphalt lifespans, carries a transferable lifetime limited warranty, requires minimal maintenance, and may reduce insurance premiums (fire class and impact rating). You avoid the recurring cost and environmental impact of tear-offs and landfill disposal. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated structure means you don't face escalating deductibles. Current financing offers—no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off—further narrow the gap, making this genuinely your last roof purchase.
How does metal roofing perform in Gray Gables' heavy rainfall?
Exceptionally well. Gray Gables receives about 2305 mm of rain annually—a serious volume that demands flawless water management. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create overlapping seals that shed water laterally before it can penetrate seams. The Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, and Tile profiles all angle water downward, and the Standing Seam profile's vertical ribs direct flow straight to gutters. Unlike asphalt, where rain eventually saturates the substrate and causes rot, aluminum is impervious; water runs off, never soaks in. Combined with proper underlayment and solid deck installation, your metal roof handles the Pacific Northwest's persistent moisture without the moss, lichen, and mold growth that plague organic materials in this climate.
