Review: February 14, 2024Completion: February 1, 2024

On the first night, I heard some weird dripping noises in the walls. I emailed a video to the sales guys because I didn't have anyone else's email. I never heard back. The leak when it occurred was in a different part of the house, so I guess it's just fine, but it would a have been nice to know if it was leaking inside the walls or something. It's nerve wracking replacing a roof in this climate at this time of year, and I would have been happy to wait for better weather. Good product, good people

Review: February 19, 2020Completion: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Review: March 8, 2018Completion: February 24, 2018

I will not recommend, but I will give the the option of Interlock Roofing to other people needing a roof. I think Interlock Roofing could improve on cooperating with the customer more for delivering materials and the start time. The original time frame was 3-4 days. It took over a week to get the project done because of weather. They could improve their issue with communication with the installers. Not all of the installers spoke English. If I had to do it over again, then I would not.

Review: March 27, 2024Completion: February 27, 2024

To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bay City

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bay City, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bay City.

How does a metal roof handle Bay City's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, non-porous surface doesn't allow melt to refreeze into dams. Bay City receives about 60 cm of snow annually with roughly 38 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions that trigger ice-dam damage on traditional roofs. The lightweight panels (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) carry no structural penalty even after loading, and optional snow guards let you control shedding safely. The aluminum's thermal properties also reduce the heat loss that creates damaging melt cycles.

Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that instantly seals any scratch or cut during installation or weather exposure. In Grays Harbor County's moist marine environment, this passive protection is critical: steel roofing requires constant maintenance to prevent rust staining and structural failure, while Interlock aluminum has been installed in coastal salt-air homes since 1998 and shipped to Antarctic research stations with zero rust issues. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating adds a second defensive barrier, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading.

Will a metal roof blow off in Bay City's windstorms?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above the gusts Bay City experiences (typical daily-max winds around 15 km/h with occasional gusts to 106 km/h). The interlocking geometry locks each panel to its neighbors on four sides, creating a unified system that distributes uplift forces across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 documents compliance with IBC/IRC wind-load codes. Over 25 years of installation in Pacific Northwest wind corridors, the system has a proven track record of staying put.

Can a metal roof handle Bay City's extreme rainfall?

Bay City's 2305 mm of annual rainfall—among the wettest climates in the continental U.S.—demands a roof that sheds water instantly and never allows standing moisture. Interlock's four-way interlocking seams and gravity-fed panel geometry channel water downslope with zero exposure to standing water; there are no lapped joints where water can be driven upward by wind-driven rain. Because the aluminum surface is non-porous and non-absorbent, unlike asphalt or wood, mold and algae cannot establish. Paired with proper deck preparation and underlayment, the system delivers the same leak protection as asphalt but without the moisture-absorption failures that plague organic materials in wet climates.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can I save on homeowners insurance?

Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's flexibility absorbs impact energy without shattering, unlike slate, tile, or asphalt shingles, which crack and crack further with freeze-thaw cycles (Bay City logs about 38 per year). Many insurers offer premium discounts for non-combustible, impact-rated roofing; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation. While Grays Harbor County hail frequency is low, the protection is there if needed, and the durability advantage applies to all weather-driven damage over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt in the long term?

Metal outperforms asphalt economically across a 50+ year lifespan when you factor in replacement cycles. Asphalt requires tear-off and replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock lasts your lifetime and transfers to the next owner with 50 years of coverage under the Guardian Warranty. Over five decades in a 2305 mm rainfall climate with 38 annual freeze-thaw cycles, asphalt undergoes 2–3 full replacements (labor, disposal, new material); Interlock undergoes one installation. Current promotion: no payments, no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off metal roof installation. The math favors metal decisively when you live in or plan to own your home long-term.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. In practice, Interlock panels have performed for 25+ years in production since 1998, with no documented end-of-life failures in any climate. Bay City's 60 cm annual snow, 2305 mm rain, and 38 freeze-thaw days drive aggressive durability testing; aluminum's non-corrosive nature and the 30-year Alunar coating warranty mean the roof's performance is fundamentally time-unlimited. Most roofs outlast the house.

Can my roof frame handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed for Interlock. The Shingle profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft—lighter than asphalt—and the Mediterranean Tile, which replicates heavy clay tile at visual perfection, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft and is about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. Even a 2400 sq ft roof adds only about 960 pounds of weight, a fraction of the snow load Bay City winters impose. The system installs over most existing roofs, eliminating costly tear-off labor. Interlock's lightweight design means no hidden structural upgrades, no engineer reports, and no delays—a practical advantage in wet climates where removing old roofing to bare wood invites water damage during installation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Interlock requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections for rot, algae, or moss as asphalt demands, and no wood-shake sealing or splitting repairs. The non-porous aluminum and Alunar coating resist mold and staining in Bay City's 2789 annual sunshine hours and 60 cm snow environment where moisture-loving growth thrives on organic surfaces. Gutters need seasonal clearing as with any roof, and snow guards (if installed) may need adjustment after heavy loading. Compare this to asphalt granule loss from repeated freeze-thaw cycles (38 per year locally), wood shake rot from constant moisture, or tile mortar deterioration. CALGreen verification documents the reduced-maintenance profile. You essentially install the roof and forget about it.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity; Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and can detail timeline specifics for your home. Yes, you can install over most existing roofs, eliminating the multi-day tear-off process and the risk of water infiltration during removal—a major advantage in a 2305 mm rainfall climate where exposed decking can absorb water quickly. The lightweight panels (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) don't overload old framing, and the new roof seals immediately, protecting your interior even in Bay City's wet season. Your installer will assess structural soundness and any local code requirements upfront.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bay City’s climate?

Yes. Bay City averages about 60 cm of snow, 2305 mm of rain, roughly 38 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 106 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
