Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Humptulips, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Humptulips
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Humptulips, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Humptulips.
Does a metal roof handle Humptulips' heavy snow and ice buildup?
Yes — aluminum's smooth, interlocking design sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Humptulips averages about 60 cm of snow annually with roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year, creating conditions where ice dams form on traditional roofs. The four-way interlocking panels and low surface friction prevent ice from bonding to the roof. Snow guards are available if you want to manage snow slide onto walkways, but the metal surface itself resists the freeze-thaw cycle that splits asphalt and wood shingles. Unlike shingles that degrade from repeated thaw-refreeze, Interlock's aluminum won't crack, curl, or rot through those seasonal swings.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel or corrugated metal?
Aluminum is fundamentally different from steel: it contains no iron, so rust—which requires iron oxide—cannot form. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a protective Alunar® PVDF coating applied to both sides. When the coating is scratched, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals, sealing the exposed metal. Humptulips' 2305 mm of annual rainfall and salt-air proximity near the coast make this dual protection critical. The 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214) ensures the finish stays intact; the lifetime material warranty covers the underlying aluminum if corrosion somehow occurs—which it won't. Steel metal roofs require ongoing vigilance; aluminum simply doesn't corrode.
Will a metal roof stay secure in Humptulips' wind and coastal gusts?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Humptulips experiences typical daily winds around 15 km/h with gusts reaching 106 km/h—well within that rated envelope. The interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof structure rather than relying on fasteners alone. This is why the product carries a 120 mph wind warranty despite the region's exposure. Traditional asphalt shingles, by contrast, are fastened individually and often lift or tear when gusts spike. The aluminum won't loosen, lift, or separate under the coastal and seasonal gust patterns you experience.
Is a metal roof actually protected against hail, and does it lower insurance costs?
Interlock holds the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—which means it withstands impacts from 1.5-inch hailstones without loss of performance. The warranty explicitly covers perforation from hail of this size. While Humptulips isn't a severe hail zone compared to inland regions, Class 4 rating gives you the strongest product available and often qualifies you for insurance discounts or credits. Your insurer may reduce your premium because the roof is non-combustible aluminum, Class A fire-rated, and demonstrably impact-resistant. Contact your agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 Class 4 rating to ask about credits. Metal roofing's proven durability increasingly earns premium reductions that asphalt cannot match.
What is the actual warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer?
Interlock offers a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—non-prorated, meaning it doesn't diminish over time. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. When you sell, the warranty becomes one-time transferable: the next owner gets 50 years of coverage from the roof's completion date. That's a tangible selling advantage. Most asphalt roofs last 15-20 years before needing replacement; the Interlock warranty essentially promises you'll never buy another roof. Over 40+ years in Humptulips' 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw cycles, that distinction—lifetime coverage versus a 20-year asphalt replacement cycle—translates to real savings and peace of mind.
How does the cost of a metal roof compare over a lifetime in Humptulips?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt, but asphalt requires replacement every 15-20 years. Over a 40-50 year span in Humptulips' wet climate (2305 mm rain annually, 38 freeze-thaw days), you'll replace asphalt 2-3 times; Interlock's lifetime warranty means one installation. Factor in labor, hauling old shingles to landfill, and rising material costs across two or three cycles, and the total cost of ownership heavily favors metal. Plus, the current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The Alunar® 30-year coating warranty and Guardian lifetime material warranty eliminate the financial surprise of premature failure that frequently hits asphalt owners in high-rainfall zones.
In a place that gets 2305 mm of rain yearly, how does a metal roof stay leak-free?
The four-way interlocking design is the key: each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, creating a continuous, channeled system that directs water downslope without gaps. Humptulips' heavy rainfall—about 2305 mm annually—demands flawless water shedding, and the interlocking geometry handles that by design, not by luck. Water cannot pool between panels or find seams. Installation includes a solid deck and underlayment that matches asphalt-quiet performance, providing redundancy: even if water somehow penetrated the metal surface (which the oxide layer prevents), the underlayment catches it. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation certifies the system for residential water tightness. Countless installations from coastal salt-air homes to rainy Pacific regions prove the interlocking panels move water reliably, even in climates far wetter than Humptulips.
Can my house's frame handle a metal roof, or will I need expensive reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate and Shake profiles are similarly featherweight (0.41–0.58 lb/sq ft). Most existing framing can support this with ease, and you can often install Interlock over an existing asphalt roof without removal, saving time and disposal costs. By contrast, authentic slate or clay tile requires substantial structural upgrades because of their mass. Humptulips' frequent moisture and wind (gusts to 106 km/h) are handled by the interlocking mechanical strength, not added weight. The aluminum's light weight means no hidden structural costs, no contractor surprises mid-project, and the option to overlay rather than tear off.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Interlock requires minimal maintenance—occasional gentle rinsing to remove debris and salt spray. Asphalt shingles need frequent inspections in Humptulips' 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw days; moss and algae grow aggressively in damp climates and degrade asphalt. Wood shakes split and rot from the same moisture and freeze-thaw cycle. Aluminum's non-porous surface resists moss, algae, and rot entirely. The Alunar® PVDF finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning you're not power-washing, resealing, or replacing damaged shingles every few years. The coating warranty lasts 30 years against chalking and fading, so color remains stable without refinishing. Over the roof's life, the time and cost savings—no moss treatments, no shingle replacements, no sealant reapplication—add up significantly compared to any other roofing type.
Can a metal roof look like slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of 'typical metal'?
Yes—Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile, each manufactured with authentic texture and dimension. The cedar-look and slate profiles appeal to homeowners wanting traditional aesthetics without asphalt's short lifespan; the Mediterranean Tile brings upscale character while weighing about 96% less than actual tile. Standing Seam suits modern or industrial designs. All five profiles are formed from the same durable aluminum alloy (3105-H24, ASTM B209) and carry identical wind (120 mph), hail (UL 2218 Class 4), and lifetime warranty protection. Humptulips homeowners who want their roof to match architectural character—whether farmhouse, contemporary, or coastal—can choose the style without sacrificing performance. The profiles are produced in multiple energy-efficiency colors, so you also control thermal reflectance.
