Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Weatherwax, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Weatherwax
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Weatherwax, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Weatherwax.
Will a metal roof handle Weatherwax's snow load and ice dams?
Yes—aluminum's light weight (the Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft) puts zero strain on your framing, even under Grays Harbor's average 104 cm of annual snowfall. The smooth, interlocking panel design sheds snow and ice naturally without the pooling that traps moisture on asphalt. The four-way interlock also means no exposed fasteners for ice to pry open. In a climate with roughly 38 freeze-thaw cycles per year, that matters: your roof expands and contracts, but the panels stay locked together.
How does a metal roof perform in Weatherwax's heavy rain?
Interlock panels shed water by design—they're engineered to overlap and channel runoff downward, so with Grays Harbor averaging 2523 mm of annual rainfall, there's no standing water or pooling. The four-way interlock creates a continuous barrier; each panel locks to its neighbors, so water never finds a gap. Installed over a solid deck with underlayment (standard practice), the system is as leak-proof as any roof. Metal reflects rain noise rather than transmitting it, and the deck underneath silences it completely—you won't hear weather.
Can Interlock metal roofing withstand Weatherwax's wind gusts?
The four-way interlock locks each panel to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, creating a unified assembly that resists wind uplift. Interlock is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph; Weatherwax's typical gusts reach about 106 km/h (66 mph), well within the safety margin. In a climate where storm gusts are routine, that interlocking grip means panels won't separate, curl, or lift. The warranty covers wind damage when installed to spec, giving you certainty that your roof will still be there after the season's worst blow.
Does metal roofing protect against hail and qualify for insurance breaks?
Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio (the Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile) means it absorbs impacts without cracking or shattering the way slate, tile, and wood do. Many insurers recognize that durability and offer discounts on metal roofs. In Grays Harbor's storm-prone climate, that translates to lower premiums over decades—often recovering the roof's cost.
What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock carries The Guardian lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—non-prorated material coverage for rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable: the next owner gets 50 years from completion. That's a fundamentally different promise than asphalt, which degrades within 15–20 years. Manufactured since 1998 and installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station, Interlock panels have proven themselves across climates far harsher than Weatherwax. You're buying a roof that will outlast the mortgage.
Will I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No. The Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real tile or concrete tile. Most homes can accept a metal roof without any structural work. This also means you can install directly over an existing asphalt roof, eliminating the cost and waste of tear-off and disposal. Weatherwax homeowners benefit twice: they avoid expensive framing upgrades, and they skip the landfill impact of their old roof. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance without reinforcement on standard residential framing.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost in Weatherwax?
Compare the life-cycle cost, not the sticker price. Asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years; you'll buy two or three asphalt roofs in the time one metal roof lasts. Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven durability across 25+ years of installation mean no re-roofing in your lifetime. Factor in no storm damage claims (UL 2218 Class 4, 120 mph wind warranty), potential insurance discounts, and energy savings (energy-efficiency colors reflect 55% of solar radiation), and the metal roof becomes the last roof you buy. In Grays Harbor's harsh freeze-thaw climate (38 days per year), that's protection asphalt simply cannot match.
Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable—the panels themselves and all offcuts go back to the metal stream indefinitely. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills after 15–20 years and never fully decompose. Interlock, manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. You install once, and the material cycle closes at end of life. Weatherwax's 2523 mm of annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw days would degrade asphalt steadily; a metal roof eliminates that waste stream and leaves no environmental debt to the next homeowner.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?
Almost none. Unlike wood shake or shake roofing, aluminum panels don't split, rot, or warp as Weatherwax's 2790 annual sunshine hours and frequent rain cycles cycle between wet and dry. Unlike asphalt, they don't shed granules or need sealing every few years. Occasional gutter cleaning and an inspection after major storms are sufficient. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (energy-efficiency colors hold their reflectance far longer than painted steel). CALGreen verifies the system for reduced maintenance, so your only task is enjoying 25+ years of worry-free weather protection.
Who installs Interlock roofing in Weatherwax, and how long have they been in business?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Grays Harbor County since 1997—longer than the Interlock product line itself has been manufactured. They know Weatherwax's climate intimately: the gusts to 106 km/h, the 104 cm of snow, the freeze-thaw cycles that challenge any roof. Local installers understand site-specific details—existing structure, drainage, wind exposure—that determine proper installation and warranty validity. With 1997 roots in the region, they're invested in long-term reputation, not one-time sales. Currently, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
