Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kalama Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kalama Heights, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kalama Heights.

Does metal roofing handle Kalama Heights' heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. With about 51 cm of snow and roughly 24 freeze-thaw days each year, your roof needs material that won't degrade from repeated expansion and contraction. Aluminum oxide naturally resists freeze damage, and the four-way interlocking panels remain watertight through winter. Snow guard options are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation or avalanche control.

Will a metal roof hold up to Kalama Heights' wind gusts?

The four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph—far exceeding the typical gusts of 103 km/h recorded in your area. Each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors, distributing stress across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design has proven itself in coastal and alpine installations where wind is constant; your exposure is well within the product's rated envelope.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adds a second defense. For homes in Kalama Heights' moist climate averaging 1500 mm of rain annually, this dual protection means the roof outlasts the house.

How does metal roofing perform in Kalama Heights' heavy rainfall?

The four-way interlocking panels create continuous pathways that direct water downward and outward; water cannot pool or seep sideways into seams. With 1500 mm of annual rainfall, your roof experiences frequent, sustained wet conditions—exactly the scenario where panel-to-panel locks prevent the slow leaks that plague fastener-dependent roofs. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment further ensures water finds only one path: down and safely off your home.

Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing without upgrades?

Almost certainly. The Interlock Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb per square foot—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and other profiles are even lighter. Many homes can accept metal roofing directly over their existing asphalt roof, eliminating tear-off costs and waste. Even older timber-frame structures tolerate the load with no reinforcement needed. Only a rare, severely compromised frame would require structural work, which your local installer can assess during a free inspection.

Does Interlock's hail rating actually matter for homeowner's insurance?

Yes. The product carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Some insurers offer premium reductions (typically 10–20%) for Class 4 roofing, which can offset installation cost within 5–10 years. Contact your agent with the UL rating; the aluminum's non-combustibility and extreme durability position it as a low-risk investment they understand and often reward.

What warranty protection does Interlock provide, and for how long?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling for the original owner—guarantees that matter because Kalama Heights experiences 24 freeze-thaw cycles annually, the exact condition that stresses and fails asphalt. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion date. Because the roof truly lasts 50+ years, this is your last roof; the math of dividing installation cost by decades of service favors metal overwhelmingly.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really require?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under UV and weather stress, or wood shake, which splits and rots in Kalama Heights' 1500 mm annual rainfall, aluminum never requires sealing, restaining, or moss removal. The solid aluminum surface doesn't absorb water, so freeze-thaw cycles cause no damage. A light annual rinse removes dust collected during 2835 annual sunshine hours. Most homeowners file this under 'never think about it again'—which is precisely why the product is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance.

Do reflective metal roofs actually lower cooling costs in a climate like ours?

Yes, measurably. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce summer heat away while emitting absorbed heat efficiently—reducing cooling demand by 10–20% in temperate climates. Kalama Heights receives about 2835 sunshine hours annually; even in a cool region, those hours add up. A reflective roof also keeps attics cooler in summer, reducing HVAC strain and extending equipment life.
