Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Mae, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mae
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mae, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mae.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate or cedar shake in Mae?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — each cast from real samples to match traditional materials visually. All use the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy with Alunar® PVDF coating, so they perform identically regardless of style. Mae's 3513 annual sunshine hours will showcase the finish without degrading it; the 30-year coating warranty protects against chalking and fading under that exposure.
What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it actually last?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; its oxide layer self-heals when scratched. With Mae's 77 freeze-thaw days per year and 33 cm annual snow, the material's non-corrosive nature and lack of wood decay risk mean your roof outlasts asphalt by decades.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing does?
Aluminum rusts differently than steel because it contains no iron — and iron oxide is what causes rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. If that layer is scratched, it self-heals automatically. Steel roofing, by contrast, corrodes when iron oxidizes, and once rust starts it spreads. Mae's moisture and freeze-thaw cycling (77 days per year) accelerate steel corrosion. Interlock's aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24) is engineered to withstand this environment indefinitely.
Is a metal roof heavy enough to need structural reinforcement?
No. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh extraordinarily little — the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means you can install it over most existing roofs without reinforcing your frame. The Slate profile is even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Mae homeowners avoid the cost and disruption of structural upgrades while gaining a roof that spans the region's 81 km/h wind gusts with a 120 mph wind warranty.
How does a metal roof handle Mae's snow and ice?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice efficiently because water cannot pool on it; the smooth, sloped panels direct meltwater downward before it refreezes. Mae averages 33 cm of snow annually and 77 freeze-thaw days — conditions that crack asphalt shingles and cause ice dams. Interlock's aluminum cannot split, curl, or rot as shingles do when exposed to repeated freezing and thawing. Snow guards can be added if you want to control roof runoff, but the material itself resists the mechanical damage that freeze-thaw cycles inflict on traditional roofing.
Will a metal roof survive hail, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock metal roofing holds the highest impact rating available: UL 2218 Class 4. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this and offer premium discounts on homes with Class 4 metal roofs, potentially offsetting material costs over time. While Mae's climate data does not indicate frequent large hail, the UL 2218 Class 4 rating provides absolute protection against impact damage and the documentation many insurers require to authorize discounts.
Is a metal roof fire-resistant?
Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available in Class A fire classification — the highest fire rating. Aluminum cannot ignite or spread flame. This classification is recognized by the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) under ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, reissued 2025. Homeowners in fire-prone areas and those seeking to reduce home insurance risk benefit from Class A protection, and some insurers reduce premiums for non-combustible roofing.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, wood shakes, or clay tiles, aluminum does not rot, split, curl, or degrade from weathering. It requires no annual inspections, no moss or algae treatment, and no coating renewal. Mae's 203 mm annual rainfall and 3513 sunshine hours can degrade organic roofing materials; Interlock's Alunar® PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. CALGreen verification confirms reduced-maintenance status, making it the last roof most homeowners install.
Is a metal roof worth the cost over asphalt?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but saves money over the roof's life. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off and landfill disposal; Interlock's lifetime non-prorated warranty and transferable 50-year term mean you never replace it. No maintenance costs, no re-coating, no emergency repairs from freeze-thaw damage (77 days yearly in Mae). Over 50 years, the total cost of ownership — material, labor, maintenance, and replacement — favors metal significantly. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
