Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lakeview

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lakeview, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lakeview.

Will a metal roof handle freeze-thaw cycles in Washington winters?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it has no iron and cannot rust, so repeated freezing and thawing cause no material degradation. Lakeview experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 35 cm of snow, conditions that would crack or delaminate asphalt and wood shingles over time. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) expands and contracts uniformly without developing stress fractures, and its Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading and chalking) remains flexible through these cycles, protecting the metal beneath.

Does metal roofing cause ice dams or slide snow dangerously in Lakeview?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice efficiently because its smooth, hard surface prevents water from pooling—the typical concern with standing-seam or flat-profile metal. With Lakeview's average 35 cm annual snowfall and typical gusts reaching 93 km/h, Interlock's four-way interlocking panels (warranted to 120 mph wind) remain stable, and the Slate, Cedar Shingle, and Shake profiles have textured surfaces that grip snow safely without the ice-damming risk of asphalt. Many homeowners add optional snow guards if they live near walkways; the lightweight construction (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural load concerns even after heavy snow accumulation.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Washington?

Aluminum roofing cannot rust because aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes to form rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal underneath indefinitely. This is why Interlock panels have been installed successfully on coastal salt-air homes and even an Antarctic research station since 1998. In Lakeview's relatively dry inland climate (about 216 mm rain annually and 3,485 sunshine hours), the conditions are far less corrosive than coastal regions, meaning your aluminum roof will remain pristine for generations without rust stains or structural compromise.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed—metal roofing weighs far less than slate or tile. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates traditional clay or concrete tile, installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft (about 96% lighter than genuine tile), and most aluminum profiles are even lighter. This extreme lightness means Interlock installs directly over existing asphalt shingles on nearly all homes, eliminating tear-off costs and landfill waste. Lakeview's typical gusts of 93 km/h and up to 120 cm annual snow load pose no structural risk because the panels themselves distribute weight so efficiently that framers and engineers routinely approve retrofit installations without reinforcement.

Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage coverage or insurance discounts?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While insurers' discount policies vary, many offer premium reductions for Class 4 impact-rated roofs because the material resists damage that would total an asphalt roof. In Lakeview's climate (79 freeze-thaw days annually), hail events are less frequent than in mountain passes, but when they do occur, your metal roof's proven resilience and transferable 50-year warranty to the next owner give you long-term peace of mind that asphalt simply cannot match.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially but is genuinely the last roof you buy, whereas asphalt typically needs replacement every 20–25 years. Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated Guardian Warranty covers the original owner and transfers 50 years to the next owner—eliminating the cycle of tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation that asphalt requires. Over 60 years, you avoid multiple asphalt replacements, landfill fees, and labor. Additionally, current financing (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation) dramatically reduces the real cost gap. For Lakeview homeowners planning to stay long-term or build equity, aluminum's durability in 79 annual freeze-thaw days makes it the economically sound choice.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). This Cool Roof Rating Council certification means less heat enters your attic, lowering air-conditioning demand. Lakeview's 3,485 annual sunshine hours provide ample opportunity for these reflective coatings to work; on clear days, an aluminum roof stays noticeably cooler to the touch than asphalt, reducing the workload on your cooling system. While Lakeview's mean temperature of 12°C keeps cooling costs lower than hot regions, the energy savings are measurable year-round through reduced thermal radiation into living spaces.

Is aluminum metal roofing fire-resistant or non-combustible?

Aluminum roofing is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire rating when installed to specification—the highest fire classification available. Because aluminum itself cannot burn (it contains no organic material), it meets ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (the current 2025 reissue covering IBC/IRC codes). This is especially valuable in regions prone to wildfire, and it qualifies for CALGreen verification for reduced maintenance and safety. Even in Lakeview's lower-fire-risk Grant County climate, the Class A rating can lower homeowners insurance premiums and provides peace of mind that your roof will not contribute to fire spread during any emergency.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Aluminum roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection, moss/algae removal, and eventual replacement; wood shakes require staining, splitting repair, and insect treatment; tile cracks and requires re-grouting. Interlock aluminum panels are self-cleaning (rain rinses debris off the hard, smooth surface) and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating eliminates the need for sealing or repainting over its 30-year warranty term. In Lakeview (216 mm rain, 3,485 sunshine hours annually), occasional gentle rinsing keeps your roof looking new, and there are no moving parts, fastener creep issues, or seasonal maintenance tasks—just a roof that works invisibly for decades.
