Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Soap Lake, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Soap Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Soap Lake, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Soap Lake.
Will metal roofing hold up through Soap Lake's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its oxide layer self-heals when micro-scratches occur—it doesn't crack, split, or rot like asphalt or wood shingles do over Soap Lake's typical 79 freeze-thaw days per year. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels is engineered for exactly this stress. Combined with the four-way interlocking system, panels move as one unit without trapping water that would degrade other materials. After 27 years of installations across North America, including Antarctic research stations, freeze-thaw failure is not a warranty claim we see.
How does a metal roof perform with Soap Lake's snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because aluminum conducts and radiates heat more efficiently than dark shingles, and the smooth interlocked surface offers no texture for ice to grip. At Soap Lake's average 35 cm of snow annually and 3485 sunshine hours, the combination of solar gain and reflective coatings (up to 0.55 initial reflectance on select colors) keeps the roof naturally clear longer. Optional snow guards can be installed to manage discharge if desired. The lightweight design—Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural concerns even with accumulation, unlike slate or clay tile requiring roof reinforcement.
Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in this climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-repairs when scratched. This matters in Soap Lake's climate of moderate rainfall (216 mm annually) and seasonal moisture swings. Steel roofing requires protective coatings that degrade over time and eventually expose iron to corrosion. Interlock panels are coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (30-year warranty against chalking and fading), but corrosion protection is built into the metal itself. After 27 years of field installations from coastal salt-air homes to inland regions, aluminum's inherent resistance eliminates the rust-through failures that plague steel competitors.
Can a metal roof handle Soap Lake's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Soap Lake's typical wind gusts reach about 93 km/h (58 mph), well within safe margins. The interlocking system distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone; panels lock together mechanically, so individual uplift is prevented. This design has been tested and validated under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC codes) and performs predictably across the Pacific Northwest's variable wind seasons. Insurance companies recognize the engineering advantage—some offer discounts for interlocked metal roofs.
Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and will insurance cover it?
Interlock aluminum roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's dent resistance is often superior to asphalt, and unlike shingles that crack or split, aluminum flexes and recovers. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification. In Soap Lake's climate of about 79 freeze-thaw days annually plus seasonal hail potential, this impact rating provides peace of mind that competitors cannot match. The warranty directly covers impact loss, removing guesswork from claims.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs, lowering attic temperature and reducing air-conditioning demand. At Soap Lake's 3485 annual sunshine hours, this reflective benefit compounds over months. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms the effect. Lighter-colored profiles like Aged Copper Penny perform best for heat rejection. The lightweight panels also allow better attic ventilation than heavy tile, so trapped heat escapes more readily. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings can offset a meaningful portion of the initial material cost, especially as utility rates rise.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Most existing roofs can accept Interlock panels without modification. This lightness also simplifies installation over existing asphalt shingles, reducing labor cost and time. In contrast, traditional slate or clay tile would require engineered reinforcement and removal of the old roof, adding weeks and thousands in structural work. Soap Lake homes built to standard residential load codes accommodate metal roofing directly, making retrofit faster and more affordable than heavy alternatives.
What maintenance does a metal roof need versus asphalt or wood shingles?
Metal roofs require no maintenance typical of asphalt shingles—no replacing deteriorated shingles, no dealing with curling or algae. Wood shakes need regular staining and are vulnerable to rot and insect damage. Interlock aluminum panels are non-combustible and resist splitting, cracking, and moisture absorption. At Soap Lake's 216 mm annual rainfall and 35 cm snow, a sealed metal roof simply sheds water and dries quickly. Occasional debris clearing from valleys is standard for any roof. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244), meaning color stays true with zero touch-up needed. You own a last roof, not a high-maintenance one.
What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner as a 50-year warranty from completion date, adding significant resale appeal. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against fading and chalking. This combination means you install a roof designed to outlast the mortgage and still hold value when you sell. Asphalt shingles typically fail in 15–20 years; wood shakes require replacement every 20–30 years with ongoing maintenance. Interlock's transferable warranty is the financial anchor—you buy security, not recurring expense.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over 50 years?
A metal roof costs more initially but becomes the last roof you buy. Asphalt shingles cost less upfront but require replacement every 15–20 years; over 50 years that means two to three tear-offs, plus labor and disposal—asphalt adds up to landfill and to your budget repeatedly. Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven 27-year track record mean one installation covers decades. Add the 30-year coating warranty, no maintenance cost, transferable 50-year second-owner coverage, and energy savings from reflective coatings (0.55 solar reflectance), and the total cost of ownership favors metal decisively. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over a 50-year hold, one roof beats three or four replacements.
