Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Electric City, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Electric City
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Electric City, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Electric City.
How does a metal roof handle Electric City's heavy snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow naturally because of their smooth, sloped surface and light weight—Interlock panels weigh just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft, so no structural reinforcement is needed even with Electric City's average 85 cm of snow per year. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) resists the freeze-thaw damage that degrades asphalt and wood: you'll experience about 81 freeze-thaw cycles annually here, and aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when exposed, staying intact where seasonal temperature swings would crack or curl traditional shingles. Snow guards can be installed if desired for aesthetic or safety reasons.
Why won't my metal roof rust, and does that matter in Grant County?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the metal that rusts. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects it from the environment. In Grant County's 262 mm of annual rainfall and occasional moisture, steel roofing would require constant maintenance against rust stains and structural weakening, but aluminum stays structurally sound. Interlock's Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against fading) is applied to both sides of every panel, adding an extra defense in damp conditions. You get durability without the rust-prevention vigilance that steel demands.
Can a metal roof crack or split from Electric City's winters?
No—aluminum won't crack or split even through 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles. The material's engineering (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy to ASTM B209) allows it to contract and expand without fracturing, unlike asphalt (which becomes brittle in cold) or real wood shake (which splits as moisture freezes inside). With about 85 cm of snow per winter and temperatures dipping below freezing regularly here, traditional materials degrade from repeated ice formation, but aluminum's crystalline structure absorbs this stress. Your Guardian Warranty explicitly covers splitting and cracking for the lifetime of your roof—a promise built on material science, not just goodwill.
Will my metal roof blow off in a Grant County windstorm?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Electric City's typical gusts reach only 93 km/h—your roof is designed for winds more than 30% stronger than the worst you'll see here. The four-way interlock means each panel clips to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a continuous, unified surface that resists uplift. UL testing confirms this design; ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 verifies it meets IBC/IRC wind standards. Even during severe weather events, your roof stays secure without exposed fasteners to corrode or loosen.
Can my house support a metal roof without expensive reinforcement?
Yes—your existing structure almost certainly can. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than real clay or concrete tile; even the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is a fraction of what traditional materials weigh. Most homes in Electric City were framed to carry asphalt shingles (about 2.5 lb/sq ft), so metal roofing actually reduces the load on your structure. This light weight also means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs—no tear-off of old shingles needed—saving labor time and diverting asphalt waste from landfills. Structural reinforcement is nearly never required.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?
Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt (which hardens and cracks in Electric City's 3,414 annual sunshine hours and degrades after about 15 years), or wood shake (which splits, rots, and needs regular sealing), metal roofing needs no refinishing, recoating, or replacement of individual pieces. Rainwater (262 mm yearly here) naturally cleans the surface. The Alunar® PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) resists chalking and fading. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile. Gutters still need seasonal cleaning, and any debris should be removed, but the roof itself remains sound and attractive through decades without intervention. This is durable material, not high-maintenance theater.
Will a metal roof help lower my summer cooling costs?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance as high as 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like asphalt does. In Grant County, where 3,414 hours of annual sunshine is substantial, this reflectance reduces the heat load your air conditioning must fight. The Cool Roof Rating Council has verified these ratings. Lighter colors deliver more savings than dark ones. Over decades, energy efficiency compounds—reflected heat equals lower utility bills and extended HVAC lifespan. A metal roof doesn't just last longer; it works harder for your comfort budget.
What's my metal roof's hail rating, and will insurance notice?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the roof withstands repeated impact from 2-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet. Some insurance companies offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofing because the material reduces claim risk. While Grant County's climate data doesn't suggest frequent hail, the UL 2218 Class 4 rating provides complete peace of mind. Contact your insurer about discounts; many recognize Interlock's durability. This isn't marketing—it's documented proof your roof survives what asphalt or wood cannot.
Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Electric City, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific Northwest region since 1997—more than 25 years of local expertise. They understand Grant County's 85 cm annual snowfall, 81 freeze-thaw cycles, and 93 km/h wind gusts intimately. Interlock panels themselves have been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, so your installer combines local know-how with proven global product experience. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. A local installer means faster response, regional familiarity, and accountability to your community.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of industrial standing seam?
Yes—choose from five profile styles. Interlock Slate replicates traditional slate's elegant, layered appearance. Cedar Shingle mimics wood shakes with authentic detailing. Shake offers dimensional texture without wood's splitting and rot. Mediterranean Tile delivers the warm, curved character of clay without the weight (0.59 lb/sq ft versus 10+ lb/sq ft for real tile). Standing Seam provides the clean, modern look. All five profiles use the same durable aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24), same Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty), and same four-way interlocking system. Choose the aesthetic that matches your home and neighborhood—the performance is identical. Your roof will look exactly as traditional or contemporary as you want.
