- Durable panel finishes and tight seams reduce long-term leak risk from episodic heavy showers and convective storms that affect central Washington.
- Atmospheric rivers have less direct impact on inland Royal City than on the coast, but the system’s weatherproof seams and mechanical fastening still protect against episodic heavy-rain events.
- Coastal salt air is minimal in Royal City; nonetheless, the Alunar® coating and corrosion‑resistant substrate provide extra protection where irrigation or river spray introduces salts.
- Moss and lichen growth are generally limited by Royal City’s drier climate, yet panel geometry and low‑water‑retention surfaces inhibit biological buildup where shade and moisture occur.

Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Royal City, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Royal City
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Royal City, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Royal City.
Will a metal roof hold up through Royal City's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum expands and contracts slightly with temperature swings, but it never cracks, splits, or loses integrity the way asphalt or wood does. Royal City experiences about 77 freeze-thaw days per year across its ~203 mm of annual rainfall and 33 cm of snow. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered precisely for this cycling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating protects both sides, warranted 30 years against damage, so you're protected through decades of your region's freeze-thaw stress.
How does Interlock handle snow and ice in Grant County winters?
The lightweight interlocking panels shed snow efficiently without loading your home's structure—Interlock's Slate profile weighs only ~0.41 lb/sq ft, so ice and snow won't cause sagging or require reinforcement. Royal City receives about 33 cm of snow annually and gusts up to 81 km/h; the panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Optional snow guards can be added if you prefer controlled snow release. The smooth, non-porous surface resists ice adhesion far better than asphalt, reducing ice dam risk.
Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in moisture. Steel rusts in months without ongoing maintenance; aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. With Royal City's 203 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling, rust-free material is a genuine advantage. Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish has been installed in coastal salt-air homes since 1998 without corrosion failure. The Guardian warranty covers rusting explicitly—because it will not occur.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. is currently offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over a 40-50 year lifespan, metal roofing costs far less than multiple asphalt re-roofs. Asphalt roofs last 15-20 years and require tear-off disposal, landfill costs, and labor per cycle. A single Interlock roof with the Guardian warranty (lifetime limited for you, 50-year transferable coverage for the next owner) eliminates the asphalt cycle. With Royal City's 3513 annual sunshine hours and energy-efficient colors reflecting heat (up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance), cooling costs drop too—savings compound across decades.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete, weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the real tile it copies. Even the heaviest Interlock profile installs without adding structural strain. The lightweight design also means most metal roofs install directly over existing asphalt, saving tear-off costs and labor. In Royal City, where annual snow loads average 33 cm and wind gusts reach 81 km/h, the aluminum panels distribute weight evenly while resisting lateral stress up to 120 mph when installed to spec.
Will my insurance company offer discounts for a hail-rated metal roof?
Possibly—contact your insurer with Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available). Class 4 means the roof withstands impact from 1.5-inch hailstones without perforation, and the Guardian warranty explicitly covers that damage. Many insurers recognize this resilience and offer premium reductions on metal roofs in hail-prone regions. Grant County experiences wind gusts to 81 km/h and freeze-thaw stress that can accelerate asphalt degradation; a non-degrading, impact-rated aluminum roof reduces long-term claims. Confirm your carrier's specific discount policy, but the UL 2218 Class 4 rating gives you a strong case.
How long does it take to install Interlock Metal Roofing in Royal City?
Installation timelines depend on your home's size and roof complexity, but Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and routinely completes projects efficiently. A major advantage: the lightweight four-way interlocking aluminum panels install directly over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive tear-off labor and landfill fees. No structural reinforcement is required, so crews move faster than with traditional tile or slate. The interlocking design means fewer fasteners and faster sealing. Contact the local installer for a site estimate and timeline specific to your property.
What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require in this climate?
Minimal maintenance—far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl; it doesn't require sealing, re-coating, or moss treatment. Quarterly gutter cleaning (standard for any roof) is your main task. In Royal City's 203 mm-per-year rainfall and 3513 sunshine hours, the two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, ASTM D4214/D2244 measured) handles UV exposure and wet weather without degradation. The non-porous surface resists algae and debris accumulation. No fasteners back out in freeze-thaw cycles because the four-way interlocking system distributes movement. Cost of ownership drops when maintenance costs vanish.
Is an aluminum metal roof an environmentally responsible choice?
Yes—aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock roofs end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15-20 years. When an Interlock roof eventually reaches end-of-life (50+ years away), it enters aluminum recycling streams instead of a landfill. The manufacturing process happens in Delta, BC, and the product ships minimal packaging waste. In Royal City, where annual precipitation is 203 mm and freeze-thaw stress accelerates asphalt failure, choosing a one-time 50-year roof prevents multiple disposal events. energy-efficient colors with 0.84 emissivity reduce cooling energy use, further lowering your carbon footprint across decades of ownership.
Is a metal roof safe in case of fire?
Yes—Interlock aluminum roofs achieve Class A fire classification (non-combustible). Aluminum will not ignite, burn, or spread flame; it meets the highest fire rating standards under ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025). This is a genuine safety advantage over asphalt (combustible) and wood shake (highly flammable). Many homeowners insurance policies offer lower premiums for Class A-rated roofs. If wildfire risk concerns you in Grant County, the non-combustible aluminum profile eliminates a major vulnerability. The roof won't contribute fuel or embers; it acts as a thermal and flame barrier for your home.
