Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hartline

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hartline, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hartline.

Will a metal roof handle Hartline's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Hartline experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, meaning seasonal expansion and contraction won't degrade it like asphalt shingles or wood shakes. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading under these exact cycling stresses. Unlike materials that crack or curl from repeated freeze-thaw, aluminum remains dimensionally stable across your region's temperature swings.

How does an Interlock metal roof perform under Hartline's snow load?

The four-way interlocking panels shed snow efficiently while staying installed under load. Hartline averages about 44 cm of snow annually, and the lightweight design—Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed even with accumulated snow. Snow guards can be added if desired for controlled shedding. The smooth, non-porous surface prevents ice dams from forming in the freeze-thaw cycle typical of your area, where temperatures fluctuate around the 11.5°C mean.

Can metal roofing handle Hartline's wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec—well above Hartline's typical peak gusts of 92 km/h (57 mph). The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This design has proven itself in coastal salt-air installations and mountain regions with similar or stronger wind events. Your roof won't lift or separate under the sustained winds your region experiences.

Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling demand year-round. Hartline receives about 3,480 sunshine hours annually, and Interlock's reflective finishes achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning less heat enters your home in summer and less escapes in winter. Over a 30+ year roof life, this cooling and heating savings compounds significantly. The Cool Roof Rating Council ratings back these energy claims with real-world thermal data, not marketing estimates.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and will insurance care?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Hartline's hail risk is moderate compared to the High Plains, the Class 4 rating and non-combustible aluminum construction often qualify homeowners for insurance discounts that offset installation cost over time. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code evaluation to confirm your premium reduction.

Why doesn't aluminum roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched. Hartline's 239 mm of annual rainfall won't corrode aluminum the way it would steel. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides of every panel adds a second defense layer, giving you corrosion resistance that requires no maintenance and lasts 30 years or more in your climate.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no granule loss, no moss treatment, no wood sealing. Hartline's ~239 mm annual rain and 44 cm snow naturally rinse the roof clean. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade under UV and weathering, or wood shakes prone to rot and insect damage, aluminum's Alunar coating stays stable. A rinse every few years if debris accumulates is all most owners do. This low-maintenance profile is verified under CALGreen standards and backed by the Guardian lifetime limited warranty.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over 30+ years?

Metal roofing is the last roof you buy. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement twice in the time one Interlock roof with a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty lasts. Factor in tear-off landfill costs, reinstallation labor, and recurring maintenance, and the total cost of ownership favors metal decisively. Add energy-efficiency savings reducing heating/cooling demand across 30+ years in Hartline's variable climate, and the economics are clear. Current financing—no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off—makes the transition immediate and affordable.

What does the Guardian warranty actually cover?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no deductible, no gradual coverage decline. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the roof's completion date. No other roofing material matches this combination of original-owner lifetime protection and multi-decade transferability, making your home more attractive to future buyers while protecting your investment.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Hartline?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997—longer than the product has existed in its current form. They know Hartline's freeze-thaw cycles, 92 km/h wind gusts, and 79 annual freeze-thaw days intimately. They handle installation over existing roofs (no tear-off required unless structural damage is present), coordinate with local building departments familiar with ICC-ES ESR-1790, and support the Guardian warranty locally. Regional financing—no payments until Spring 2027 or 10% off—is available through your installer.
