Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Pysht, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Pysht
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Pysht, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Pysht.
How does a metal roof handle Pysht's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow better than asphalt because aluminum panels expand and contract minimally, preventing ice dams that trap melt. Pysht averages about 98 cm of snow yearly and around 24 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking design and smooth profiles (especially Standing Seam) let snow slide safely while the lightweight aluminum won't sag under accumulation. You can add snow guards if you want controlled shedding. The sealed panel system means water can't penetrate where expansion occurs, which matters when you're cycling between freezing and the typical 9.8°C annual mean.
Will a metal roof leak with Pysht's 1,485 mm of annual rainfall?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are designed to shed water continuously; the mechanical overlap prevents standing water and capillary action. With 1,485 mm of rain per year and frequent gusts reaching 126 km/h, panel-to-panel sealing is critical—which is why Interlock's locked system outperforms overlapped shingles that deteriorate and open under wind pressure. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment adds another layer of protection. After nearly 30 years in the field, from coastal salt-air climates to wet Pacific valleys, this system has zero documented leak-related warranty claims tied to rainfall volume.
Why won't my metal roof rust like steel roofs do?
Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), not steel. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—the chemical reaction that destroys steel cannot happen. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer. Even if scratched during installation or by a branch, the oxide reforms automatically. In Pysht's wet 1,485 mm rainfall climate, this means zero corrosion inside the panel seams or underneath. Add the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides for extra salt-air protection) with a 30-year coating warranty, and your roof is protected from the inside and out—a guarantee no steel roof can match.
Can a metal roof withstand Pysht's winter wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Pysht's typical gusts reach 126 km/h—well within that threshold—and the mechanical interlock means each panel is secured to the next on all four sides, not just fastened to the deck. Unlike shingles that lift and separate in wind, metal panels move as a unified system. The lightweight aluminum (Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means less stress on fasteners and framing, so there's no racking or flexing that loosens connections over time. In Clallam County's windy conditions, this redundancy is why metal outlasts shingles by decades.
Does hail damage require repairs, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means survival of 1.5-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet. Most homeowners see lower insurance premiums when they upgrade to Class 4 metal because insurers recognize the durability; contact your agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL listing number (Intertek 33876) for a quote. In areas prone to hail, this rating has reduced claims and payouts substantially. Even in Pysht's maritime climate where large hail is rare, the impact rating adds resale value and gives you peace of mind against the occasional severe storm.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—which mimics heavy ceramic tile—installs at only ~0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. Even the heaviest profile weighs far less than the asphalt shingles most homes already support. This lightweight design means you can install directly over existing roofing without tearing off, saving labor and disposal costs. It also reduces stress on rafters, joists, and fasteners, so the roof system lasts longer. In Pysht, where you experience about 98 cm of snow annually, a lighter roof that distributes load evenly and won't sag under accumulation is a practical advantage—especially in older homes with modest framing.
What's the lifetime warranty actually worth, and does it transfer?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—no deductibles based on age, no sliding coverage. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the next owner gets 50 years of coverage from completion, which is one-time transferable. That's a powerful resale tool in a buyer's market. Most asphalt roofs last 15–20 years; you'll likely replace one or two asphalt roofs in the time one Interlock roof covers your home. The 30-year warranty on the Alunar coating (tested to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards) means color and gloss remain stable through Pysht's 3,085 annual sunshine hours and 1,485 mm of rain.
Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers profiles with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). These coatings reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and interior temperatures during Pysht's warmer months. While Pysht's mean annual temperature is 9.8°C with about 3,085 sunshine hours per year (less intense than southern climates), the reflective benefit compounds over decades—especially if you have light-colored interior attic space or poor ventilation. Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms the reflectance values. In a maritime climate, energy savings are modest compared to inland locations, but the lifetime durability means zero replacement energy waste—95% of aluminum is recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off cycle.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal costs more upfront than asphalt—typically 2–3 times the shingle price—but over 50 years it's the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt roofs in Pysht's 1,485 mm annual rainfall and 24 freeze-thaw cycles deteriorate faster than drier regions; plan on replacement every 15–20 years, meaning three to four tear-offs, disposal fees, and installation labor. Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven durability (installed since 1998 in coastal, arctic, and wet climates) eliminate those cycles. Add energy savings, zero maintenance, and a 50-year transferable warranty that boosts resale value, and the total cost per year drops below asphalt. Who installs Interlock roofs in the Pysht area, and how long have they been doing it?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Clallam County and the wider Puget Sound region and has been installing since 1997—longer than Interlock has been manufacturing (since 1998). They know Pysht's climate: wet winters with 1,485 mm rain, about 98 cm of snow, and wind gusts to 126 km/h. They're familiar with local building codes, inspectors, and how to install over existing roofs to minimize disruption. They can discuss the current promotion (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off), help you choose profiles and colors, and walk you through the ESR-1790 code compliance and warranty details. Call them for a site visit and estimate—local expertise in a wet, windy climate is worth far more than a quote from out of state.
