Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Lake Crescent, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lake Crescent
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lake Crescent, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lake Crescent.
How does a metal roof handle Lake Crescent's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth surface prevents the adhesion that creates ice dams. With about 98 cm of snow annually and roughly 24 freeze-thaw days per year, the freeze-thaw damage that cracks asphalt and shortens wood shingles never touches aluminum—it cannot split, curl, or rot. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and lightweight design (0.41 lb/sq ft for Shingle profile) mean no structural stress from snow load, and the panels themselves move slightly with temperature swings, staying watertight through repeated freezing cycles.
Why isn't aluminum roofing susceptible to rust like steel, especially near salt air?
Aluminum naturally cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, a thin protective oxide layer forms on the surface and actually self-heals when scratched, sealing the aluminum underneath. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) adds an extra barrier against the salt-air corrosion that corrodes steel roofs. This dual protection has proven reliable from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, and the coating itself carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading.
Will my roof leak with 1,500 mm of rain per year?
No. Lake Crescent receives about 1,485 mm of rainfall annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water continuously without pooling. Each panel locks into its neighbors on all four sides, and when installed over solid decking with underlayment (which most existing roofs have), water runs off just as it does under asphalt—the interlocking design and slope are what matter. Interlock has installed thousands of roofs in the Pacific Northwest's wettest regions without leak issues, and the Guardian warranty covers water infiltration from installation defects.
Can metal roofing withstand Lake Crescent's coastal winds and gusts?
Yes. The Clallam County region sees typical daily winds around 14 km/h but gusts occasionally reach 126 km/h. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel into its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design, combined with proper installation, keeps the roof secure in the severe wind events that occasionally threaten the area.
Does hail damage metal roofs, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts on homes with impact-rated metal roofs. Aluminum's strength and flexibility mean it dents far less easily than asphalt, and small dents do not compromise the roof's waterproofing or lifespan. Contact your insurance agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore potential savings.
Can I install a metal roof over my existing shingles without reinforcing the structure?
Yes, absolutely. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Even the heavier Shake profile comes in at just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most Lake Crescent homes already support this weight without issue, and installing over an existing roof eliminates the cost and disruption of tear-off. The four-way interlocking panels grip the old surface securely, and proper flashing at edges ensures water runs off cleanly.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt or wood shingles. With 3,085 sunshine hours per year and frequent rain, asphalt shingles degrade faster and need regular inspection for algae, moss, and damage. Wood shakes split and rot in Lake Crescent's 24 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock aluminum never rots, splits, or curls; it sheds moss and algae naturally because water runs off the smooth surface. The only maintenance is occasional gutter cleaning—the same as any roof. CALGreen verification confirms the low-maintenance claim.
Do metal roofs help with cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb the sun's heat, lowering cooling costs and reducing strain on air conditioning systems. Some profiles, like Aged Copper Penny, achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce heat away while radiating absorbed heat upward. In Lake Crescent's 3,085 annual sunshine hours, this reflectivity translates to measurable savings on hot days. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms these thermal properties meet or exceed energy-efficiency thresholds.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?
Yes. Asphalt shingles typically last 15-20 years in wet, freeze-thaw climates like Lake Crescent; metal lasts 50+ years or longer. Over that span, you replace asphalt shingles multiple times while Interlock's lifetime limited Guardian warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) means one installation covers your ownership. Factor in avoided tear-off costs, lower maintenance, potential energy savings, and transferable resale value, and the total cost per year of protection becomes far lower than asphalt. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—improves the economics further.
What warranty protection do I get, and does it transfer if I sell?
Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original homeowner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards). When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a powerful selling point in Lake Crescent's real-estate market. This transferability, combined with the product's proven 25+ year track record and coastal durability, gives buyers confidence in the roof's longevity.
