Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Jamestown

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Jamestown, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Jamestown.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Jamestown winters?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents buildup that traps moisture and leads to ice dams on asphalt. Jamestown receives about 33 cm of snow annually with roughly 14 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions where ice dams cause leaks and structural damage. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that sheds meltwater continuously, and the thermal reflectance (up to 0.55 on certain colors) helps prevent the uneven heating that causes ice-dam formation. Snow guards are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation or aesthetics.

Will a metal roof rust in Jamestown's rainy climate?

No—Interlock roofing is made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust, even with 1,078 mm of annual rainfall. Aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion; when scratched, this layer reforms automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel, adds 30 years of warranty protection against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is especially valuable in Jamestown's wet marine climate, where moisture exposure is constant.

Can an aluminum metal roof withstand Jamestown's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Jamestown's typical wind gusts reach 138 km/h, which the system reliably handles because the interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—means the panels maintain structural integrity and impact resistance through the wind, rain, and hail events common to the region.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Hail rarely damages Interlock roofing. The panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification—and the Guardian Warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This exceptional impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 certification. In Jamestown, where hail events are less frequent than in alpine regions but still possible during severe weather, this durability provides real financial and peace-of-mind value over a 50+ year roof lifespan.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. The Interlock Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than traditional concrete or clay tile—making it so light that it installs directly over most existing roofs without upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to typical residential framing loads. This lightweight advantage means you avoid the $2,000–$5,000 costs of structural reinforcement common with stone or ceramic tile, and you retain the option to install over existing asphalt rather than tear off, saving labor and landfill impact.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Unlike asphalt shingles, which curl, crack, and lose granules in Jamestown's 1,078 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum panels never rot, split, or curl. Unlike wood shake, which rots and requires regular treatment in wet climates with 33 cm annual snow, aluminum needs only occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection. The Guardian Warranty covers cracking, curling, splitting, and rot—problems that don't occur with aluminum. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance, meaning lower upkeep costs over the roof's lifetime.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering material defects like rusting, rotting, splitting, and cracking. It's transferable once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion—a powerful incentive for resale value. Most asphalt roofs last 15–20 years and require complete replacement; Interlock roofs installed in the 1990s are still performing. In Jamestown's challenging climate—1,078 mm rain, 33 cm snow, 14 freeze-thaw cycles annually—the combination of aluminum's inherent durability and a 50-year transferable term means you're buying your last roof.

Is an Interlock metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's full lifespan, metal is the more economical choice. A typical asphalt roof costs less upfront but lasts only 15–20 years in Jamestown's wet, freeze-thaw climate and must be completely replaced (including tear-off labor and landfill fees). Interlock typically costs more initially but lasts 50+ years or more, requires no replacement, and often qualifies for insurance discounts due to UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—significantly reduces the financial barrier. When spread across decades, the total cost per year is lower with metal, plus you avoid multiple tear-offs.

Can a metal roof look like slate, cedar shakes, or traditional tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five authentic profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam, each manufactured since 1998 to replicate traditional materials. The Slate profile mimics natural quarried slate; the Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles capture the warmth and texture of wood; the Mediterranean Tile echoes historic clay tile—all in non-combustible aluminum. Choose energy-efficiency colors with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 to reflect Jamestown's 3,042 annual sunshine hours, reducing cooling costs while achieving the aesthetic your home deserves.

How does a metal roof prevent leaks in Jamestown's rainy climate?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels, combined with a solid deck and moisture-barrier underlayment, create a unified water-shedding surface that modern engineering has proven as effective as asphalt in wet climates. Jamestown receives 1,078 mm of annual rainfall—a serious test—and homes with properly installed Interlock panels experience zero leak issues because water flows over overlapped joints rather than pooling or penetrating seams. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms performance to IBC/IRC standards for all rainfall intensities and wind-driven rain scenarios, giving you the same leak protection as asphalt with superior longevity.
