If I had not been there to immediately identify problems, which were a result of the language barrier with crew on site not understanding the particular specifications of the job, it could have turned into a real disaster. Such things as not putting ventilation sheathing on the vaulted ceiling portion of the roof; then trying to put it not only on the vaulted ceiling, but other parts of the roof, where it was not required.

Review: June 8, 2021Completion: May 6, 2021

I am seemingly pleased with the product and the crew was great. They might be able to improve because, during the installation, they had another project so they were going back and forth between the 2 projects. Some days there was a full crew and some days they were only a couple of guys. They did a great job with the schedule they had but they didn't seem like they had the liberty to focus on one job at a time.

Thorough estimate of the project. Tripe check t measurements for accuracy. At the last minute additional costs incurred due to the inaccurate measurements taken at the time of the appointment.

Review: July 13, 2019Completion: June 13, 2019

Lack of communication from Interlock to homeowner and installation crew about delay in materials delivery. At the end of the first day of tear off, we did not know who or when a crew would be back to finish the work, until we as home owner started making phones calls !!

Review: November 22, 2017Completion: October 4, 2017

This is because of the price. They worked too late in the day. We were concerned about them being on the roof when it's almost dark and not being able to see what they were doing. Also, we didn't have a full crew every day. The downspouts were blocked in one area when they were done and we don't know what was in it. We pushed it on through, but we don't have leaves or branches here. After the job was done, one of the downspouts was blocked and the other had metal debris in it. They need to block the downspout parts off so debris doesn't go in while they are working. We know we paid a great deal of money and we're hoping that we're glad we did.

Review: February 8, 2023Completion: January 30, 2023

They should let the homeowner know the crew's arrival time. I just remember looking out the window at 6 a.m. with his arms crossed, staring at what looked to be mean, but he was looking at the roof, and my blood ran cold because this was a different person who showed up from the previous day. My husband went outside, and we were relieved it was the installation crew, but it would be nice if they would let us know that information prior. We thought it would be loud when it rained after the project was completed, but that's definitely not the case; it's more quiet than insulated, and we have no leaks!

No, I would never. I think they fell short in all areas except the initial contact with the salesperson. He was polite, knowledgeable, and well informed. After that it went down hill.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Carlsborg

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Carlsborg, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Carlsborg.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Carlsborg winters?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow reliably even with Carlsborg's average 33 cm of annual snowfall and 14 freeze–thaw cycles per year. The aluminum profiles — Slate, Shake, and Standing Seam — have no seams where water refreezes into dams; the smooth underside prevents ice from anchoring. Panels are warranted to resist 120 mph winds, so seasonal gusts up to 138 km/h won't compromise the lock. Snow guards are available if you prefer slower melting on steep pitches near walkways.

Why won't my metal roof rust like old steel roofs?

Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains no iron — the element that causes rust. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that instantly re-seals if scratched or abraded. This matters in Clallam County's wet climate: rain and mist won't trigger corrosion. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against fading, adding another protective barrier. Your roof will outlast the house.

Can a metal roof survive Carlsborg's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Carlsborg's typical gusts reach 138 km/h (86 mph) with occasional extremes higher — but the roof's engineered interlock tolerates the full range. Installation over solid deck or existing shingles creates a unified, rigid surface that resists uplift and flutter.

Does metal roofing leak in heavy rain like Carlsborg gets?

Metal roofing's sealed interlocks and sloped design are ideal for Carlsborg's 1078 mm of annual rainfall. Each panel locks to the next with a weathertight seam; water runs straight down the profile without pooling. The lightweight panels — Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 — shed water faster than heavy asphalt, reducing saturation risk during the region's frequent wet spells. Proper underlayment and flashing complete the system. In 27 years of installations across coastal British Columbia, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) has built expertise in high-rainfall environments.

Will a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in summer?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors include profiles with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, certified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These finishes bounce sunlight away instead of absorbing it like asphalt does. Carlsborg enjoys about 3042 sunshine hours annually, so reflective coatings meaningfully reduce attic heat gain in clear weather. Lower cooling demand translates to lower energy bills — and the light weight of the panels (Tile at ~96% lighter than concrete) eliminates the structural reinforcement costs that accompany heavy reflective solutions.

Does hail damage require expensive repairs, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for reduced insurance premiums; contact your carrier with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating. Clallam County's hail risk is moderate, but the Class 4 rating protects you against severe events. Many insurers recognize the durability and pass savings back to policyholders.

How does metal roofing cost compare to asphalt over 30 or 40 years?

Metal roofing costs more upfront but becomes cheaper over time. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years and require replacement, tear-off, and landfill disposal — all recurring costs. Interlock's aluminum roof is warranted for the life of your home (original owner), then transfers 50 years to the next owner, eliminating replacement. Over 40 years, you avoid two or three asphalt cycles plus removal labor. Current financing offers zero payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation — making the long-term value even clearer.

What does the warranty actually cover, and how long does it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material guarantee for the original owner against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — covering the full spectrum of roof failures. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. No degradation clause. Interlock has manufactured panels since 1998 and installed systems in environments from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations; the warranty reflects proven durability in extreme climates far harsher than Carlsborg's 1078 mm annual rainfall.

How long does installation take, and do I need to remove my old roof?

Installation typically takes 1–3 days depending on roof size and complexity. Interlock panels are so lightweight — Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft — that they install directly over most existing asphalt or wood shingles without structural reinforcement. The old roof stays in place, adding insulation and eliminating disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) has served the region since 1997 and schedules installations efficiently, minimizing disruption. Flashing, valleys, and penetrations are sealed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards, ensuring code compliance from day one.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable aluminum — at end of life, the material returns to the aluminum supply chain, not a landfill. Asphalt roofs are torn off and discarded every 15–20 years, creating massive waste streams. Over 50 years, one Interlock roof replaces two to three asphalt cycles and their associated tear-offs. The aluminum requires less energy to recycle than to produce virgin material, and the roof's durability means fewer manufacturing cycles needed. Interlock is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and lower environmental impact — a genuine advantage for homeowners who value responsible building.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Carlsborg’s climate?

Yes. Carlsborg averages about 33 cm of snow, 1078 mm of rain, roughly 14 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 138 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
