Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sherwood

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sherwood, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sherwood.

Can a metal roof rust in Sherwood's rainy climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which forms a self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air. In Sherwood's 1208 mm annual rainfall and salt-influenced Pacific Northwest environment, this property means your roof stays corrosion-free for decades, unlike steel roofs that require ongoing protection. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides adds another 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, protecting against the region's 3033 annual sunshine hours.

Will a metal roof dent in hailstorms, and does it affect insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-prorated material coverage, combined with the four-way interlocking panel design, often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts in regions prone to severe weather. While the PNW rarely experiences major hail, Sherwood's recorded wind gusts reach 120 km/h, and the same impact-resistant engineering that handles hail also handles wind-driven debris. Contact your insurer directly about discount eligibility once installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's metal roofing is extraordinarily light: the Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, while the Mediterranean Tile—despite replicating heavy clay tile—installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This light weight means installation can proceed over most existing roofs without framing upgrades. In Sherwood, where annual snowfall averages about 29 cm, the load remains minimal. Your existing structure already supports the weight of asphalt shingles plus ice; aluminum weighs far less, reducing long-term stress on rafters and walls.

Will my metal roof blow off in Sherwood's wind and storms?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Sherwood's typical daily-max winds average 16 km/h with gusts reaching about 120 km/h—well within that range. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified system that distributes wind loads across the entire roof deck. Combined with proper fastening documented in ESR-1790 (the ICC-ES evaluation report reissued in 2025), this design exceeds current building code requirements for the region. The system's light weight also means wind has less leverage against the roof than it does against heavier asphalt or slate alternatives.

How does a metal roof perform in Sherwood's heavy rainfall?

Sherwood receives about 1208 mm of annual rainfall—well above the U.S. average—and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered for exactly this climate. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified, overlapping system that sheds water efficiently without relying on sealant. The panels install over solid deck and rated underlayment (as specified in ESR-1790), which captures any water that bypasses the interlocks and channels it safely to gutters. This two-stage design, combined with the metal's non-absorptive nature, delivers leak protection that outperforms asphalt shingles, which degrade from constant moisture exposure over years.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually none. Asphalt shingles need inspection every 3–5 years and replacement within 15–20 years; wood shake splits and rots in the PNW's 37 annual freeze-thaw days and constant moisture. Metal roofs have no shingles to curl, no wood to rot, and no asphalt to degrade. The Guardian Warranty's lifetime limited coverage includes these failure modes for the original owner. Occasional gutter cleaning and removing debris is all that's needed. The aluminum itself is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and the Alunar finish resists the 3033 annual sunshine hours that fade asphalt.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—non-prorated, meaning no deductions for age—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from the roof's completion date. This structure means if you sell within 10 years, the buyer inherits five decades of coverage. No other roofing system offers this combination. In Sherwood's 1208 mm annual rainfall and 29 cm snow, the non-prorated lifetime term ensures you're protected against the full spectrum of moisture-related failures without worrying about diminishing coverage over time.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors are rated for thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating quantifies this difference: while Sherwood's mean temperature averages 11.2°C and isn't a hot climate, the reflective coating reduces attic heat buildup during the 3033 annual sunshine hours, lowering cooling demand even in mild seasons. Metal roofing's solid conductivity also lets heat disperse quickly rather than radiating into the home. Over a 50-year lifespan, these incremental savings add up, especially paired with the roof's durability—you're not replacing it every 15 years like asphalt.

How long does it take to install an Interlock metal roof, and can it go over my current shingles?

Installation typically spans 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity, with minimal disruption to your home. Yes, Interlock installs over most existing roofs without tearoff—the light weight (0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft) eliminates the need for structural upgrades, so installation proceeds over asphalt, wood, or composite shingles directly. This saves thousands in labor and landfill fees. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and handles all site specifics. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—can offset costs during the project timeline.

Is a metal roof more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, meaning the material cycles back into the aluminum supply chain rather than landfills. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–20 years and disposed of in landfills—in Sherwood's 1208 mm annual rainfall and 29 cm snow, asphalt fails sooner due to moisture cycling. Over a 50-year period, one metal roof replaces three asphalt roofs, avoiding three tearoff-to-landfill cycles. Aluminum manufacturing is energy-intensive upfront, but recycling uses 95% less energy than primary production. A metal roof's 50-year lifespan means you break even environmentally within the first 20–25 years, then operate entirely in the black.
