| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Trafton
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Trafton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Trafton.
How does a metal roof handle Trafton's snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard panel surface prevents adhesion better than asphalt. Trafton receives about 52 cm of snow annually across roughly 58 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cause asphalt to crack and curl as temperatures cycle. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow cleanly without trapping moisture in seams. Snow guards are available if you need to control edge release. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrade is required, even when snow accumulates.
Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof in our climate?
No. Aluminum does not absorb water or crack under freeze-thaw stress because it is a non-porous metal. Trafton experiences about 58 freeze-thaw days yearly with average temperatures around 10.2°C, creating the exact conditions that split asphalt shingles and cause wood shakes to rot. Aluminum's oxide layer—which forms naturally and self-heals when scratched—provides permanent protection. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides adds 30 years of fade and chalking resistance, ensuring the roof's integrity through decades of Snohomish County winters.
Does heavy rain leak through metal roof seams?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a sealed barrier that handles Trafton's 1372 mm of annual rainfall without leaks. Each panel overlaps on four sides, so water sheds downward and outward rather than entering seams. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment (the standard method), the system performs identically to asphalt roofs in heavy rain—the deck and underlayment provide the secondary moisture barrier. Ice and snow melt drain away quickly because the smooth metal surface offers no grip. Proper installation to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications is key; our local team has installed thousands of roofs in this region since 1997.
Can a metal roof withstand Trafton's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph and handles typical gusts exceeding 96 km/h that occur in Snohomish County. The four-way interlocking design—each panel clips and locks on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress at fastener points. UL 2218 Class 4 impact certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code approval confirm wind performance. Unlike asphalt or composite shingles, metal panels do not lift, curl, or separate in gusts. The mechanical interlock is what makes this work, not adhesive or sealant that degrades over time.
Why is aluminum better than steel roofing for corrosion resistance?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to air or rain, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that protects the metal underneath and self-heals if scratched—a property steel does not possess. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, and both sides receive Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating for additional durability. In Trafton's wet climate with 1372 mm annual rainfall, this matters: steel requires constant maintenance and eventually corrodes. Aluminum roofs manufactured since 1998 have been installed everywhere from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations without corrosion failure.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No. Interlock metal roofing is so lightweight that your existing framing can support it without modification. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft. In contrast, traditional tile requires structural reinforcement. Because metal roofing is so light, it can be installed over most existing asphalt roofs, eliminating the cost and landfill impact of tear-off. This is especially valuable in Snohomish County homes built decades ago with aging asphalt.
What warranty protects my metal roof investment?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no depreciation schedule; it's the same coverage at year 5 as year 50. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding long-term resale value. The Alunar coating carries its own 30-year coverage against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244). Combined with aluminum's inherent durability in Trafton's freeze-thaw and rainfall cycles, this warranty reflects genuine product confidence.
Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?
Yes. energy-efficiency-certified Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt shingles absorb and trap. Trafton receives about 2907 sunshine hours yearly; on warm days, reflective metal roofing reduces attic temperature and cooling demand. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms this benefit. Darker colors have lower reflectance but still outperform asphalt. The difference is most noticeable on south-facing roofs during spring and early fall when outdoor temperatures rise. Over a 40-year lifespan, energy savings accumulate.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?
Essentially none. Interlock aluminum roofing requires no coating reapplication, no shingle replacement, no moss treatment, and no regular inspection for splits or curling—maintenance demands that consume decades on asphalt, wood shake, or tile roofs. Trafton's wet climate (1372 mm rain, 52 cm snow) accelerates asphalt degradation and moss growth; aluminum resists both. The CALGreen-verified design reduces maintenance burden. Gutters and downspouts still need seasonal cleaning, but the roof itself is inert. This is why homeowners call it the last roof they buy.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Yes. While metal costs more initially, over 40+ years it is cheaper than asphalt when you account for re-roofing cycles, maintenance, and energy. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Trafton's climate; metal lasts 40–60+ years under the Guardian Warranty. An asphalt roof installed today will need 2–3 replacements over a metal roof's life, plus tear-off disposal costs and labor. The Interlock lifetime warranty (non-prorated) and transfer provision add resale appeal. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Financing flexibility makes the transition to a permanent roof accessible now.
