Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Verlot

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Verlot, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Verlot.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice we get near Verlot each winter?

Interlock panels shed snow and ice effectively because aluminum's smooth surface and four-way interlocking design prevent moisture entrapment that leads to ice dams. With about 52 cm of snow annually and roughly 58 freeze-thaw days per year in Snohomish County, your roof experiences constant expansion and contraction—aluminum's natural flexibility accommodates this without cracking or splitting. The lightweight design (Shingle profile at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow doesn't accumulate with the crushing weight of slate or tile, and you can add snow guards if steeper sections concern you. Installed over solid decking with proper underlayment, your attic stays ventilated and dry.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage my aluminum metal roof over time?

No—aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw cycling because it expands and contracts uniformly without retaining water in microscopic cracks the way asphalt, wood, or concrete do. Verlot experiences about 58 freeze-thaw days yearly, a real test that aluminum passes because it contains no iron and its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion pathways. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) seals both panel sides, blocking moisture ingress at the source. Wood shakes split and curl; ceramic tiles crack; asphalt hardens and becomes brittle. Aluminum simply breathes.

Why is an aluminum roof better than steel in a rainy climate like ours?

Steel contains iron, which rusts when exposed to Verlot's 1372 mm of annual rainfall and the moisture cycling that comes with 58 freeze-thaw days per year. Aluminum contains no iron—it cannot rust, period. Instead, a protective aluminum oxide layer forms on the surface, and when scratched or damaged, it self-heals chemically. Your Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy to ASTM B209, and both sides receive Alunar 70% PVDF coating, delivering redundant protection against the damp Snohomish County air. Steel would require constant maintenance; aluminum simply outlasts it.

Will heavy rain cause leaks in a metal roof installed over my existing shingles?

Interlock's four-way interlocking design and solid deck installation create a watertight seal that handles Verlot's heavy 1372 mm of annual rainfall without leaks when installed to specification. The overlap geometry is engineered so water moves downslope and outward; gravity and panel geometry do the work, not sealants that degrade. Because the roof installs over solid decking with underlayment, water that somehow penetrates the panels (nearly impossible with proper installation) still won't reach your home—the underlayment acts as a secondary barrier. Compare that to asphalt: raised edges curl, exposing granule-stripped valleys; gaps open as shingles shrink and expand. Your new metal roof simply sheds water the way a duck's back does.

How safe is a metal roof in high wind? Our area gets some fierce gusts.

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Verlot's typical gusts reach about 96 km/h, well within that safety margin. The interlocking geometry means each panel grips its neighbors on all four sides, creating a continuous load path to the structure—wind can't catch an edge and peel it up the way it can with loose asphalt shingles or improperly secured standing seam panels. Because the Shingle profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft, wind force is minimized compared to heavy slate or tile. Gusts that rattle asphalt barely disturb your aluminum roof.

Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof, or can it go over my existing shingles?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—despite mimicking heavy ceramic tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile. Even older homes built to support asphalt (which weighs more) can upgrade without structural work. The lightweight design means you can install over your existing roof in most cases, saving the cost and mess of a tear-off. Your existing framing easily supports aluminum where it struggled with slate or authentic tile. This is why Interlock has installed on everything from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station: the material adapts to what's underneath, not the other way around.

What does the lifetime warranty really mean, and will it transfer if I sell my home?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—issues that plague asphalt, wood, and traditional tile within 20–30 years. That warranty transfers once to the next owner as a 50-year term from completion, giving buyers real confidence in your home's roof. You're not replacing this roof in your lifetime; the next owner likely won't either. When you factor in zero maintenance (no annual inspections, no repairs), no tear-off costs, and near-infinite recyclability, the math is simple: this is the last roof you buy.

How often do I need to maintain or clean a metal roof in the Pacific Northwest?

Nearly never. Unlike asphalt shingles (which require annual inspections, frequent repairs, and algae cleaning), wood shakes (which need ongoing treatment and splitting repair), or tile (which cracks and requires mortar repointing), aluminum simply sits there. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish resists chalking and fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214 and D2244 tested), so streaking and color loss don't occur. Verlot's 1372 mm of annual rain naturally rinses the panels. Moss or algae that might grow on asphalt won't stick to smooth aluminum. Check gutters and valleys twice yearly for debris; that's it. CALGreen verifies Interlock for reduced maintenance—what you pay for in the first year, you save in labor and replacement parts every year after.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles again in 20 years?

Calculate the full lifecycle: asphalt fails in 15–25 years and ends in a landfill; you'll replace it 2–3 times in 50 years at roughly $8,000–$15,000 per replacement, plus tear-off fees, plus accumulated repair costs. Interlock costs more upfront but performs as your permanent roof. The current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, softening the initial investment. Factor in energy savings: energy-efficient colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity and up to 0.55 solar reflectance reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling costs year-round. Add zero maintenance, transferable resale value, and 50-year peace of mind for the next owner. One metal roof replaces three asphalt roofs while contributing nothing to landfill waste.

Can I get a metal roof that doesn't look like corrugated barn metal?

Absolutely—Interlock offers five visually distinct profiles: Slate (flat, elegant masonry texture), Cedar Shingle (dimensional shingle pattern), Shake (rustic wood-grain appearance), Mediterranean Tile (curved barrel-tile look), and Standing Seam (clean, modern vertical lines). Each profile uses the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy with the same four-way interlocking geometry, ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance, and Alunar 70% PVDF coating warranted 30 years. Choose the aesthetic that matches your home's character—Victorian homes suit Slate or Shake; Mediterranean architecture calls for Tile; modern homes favor Standing Seam. Your roof will enhance curb appeal while delivering the durability that asphalt, wood, or traditional tile cannot sustain over 50+ years.
