| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Whites
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Whites, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Whites.
Will metal roofing hold up to Whites' freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes — aluminum actually performs better in freeze-thaw than asphalt or wood. Whites experiences about 62 freeze-thaw days per year, where temperature swings stress brittle materials. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splitting; it won't trap moisture like asphalt shingles do, so ice dams are less likely to form. The four-way interlocking panels shed water fast, and because aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, microscopic damage from thermal cycling doesn't lead to corrosion. Installed over Whites' typical ~1113 mm annual rainfall, the system stays dry underneath.
Why does aluminum roofing never rust, and what's the difference from steel?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rust only forms when iron oxidizes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that actually protects the metal and self-heals when scratched. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires paint or coatings to prevent rust, and once that coating chips, rust spreads underneath. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, plus a 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides for extra durability in coastal conditions. For Whites homeowners, this means no rust stains running down gutters after 10 years, and no surprise corrosion failures even with 1113 mm of annual rain.
Can my existing roof framing handle a metal roof, or do I need structural work?
Most homes need no structural reinforcement. Interlock's metal profiles are extraordinarily light — the Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. For comparison, asphalt shingles run about 2–3 lb/sq ft, so metal actually weighs less. This means the roof can install directly over your existing asphalt shingles or wood without costly reinforcement. With Whites averaging 29 cm of snow per year, the lightweight design still exceeds code for snow load when installed per specification (ICC-ES ESR-1790). A local contractor can confirm your framing, but in practice, nearly every home qualifies.
Does metal roofing handle Whites' winter wind gusts?
Yes — the warranty covers wind up to 120 mph, well above Whites' typical gusts. Local data shows wind gusts peak around 96 km/h (about 60 mph) on average, with rare extremes higher. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. Each panel overlaps its neighbors on all four sides, so uplift pressure has nowhere to push. The panels are installed over solid decking with underlayment, which resists the peeling action wind creates on three-tab shingles. Over 25+ years, that resilience saves you from the leak calls and repairs that plague asphalt in seasonal wind.
With heavy rain in Whites, will metal roofing leak?
Water from Whites' ~1113 mm annual rainfall runs off faster from metal than from asphalt. The interlocking panel design creates a shingle-like overlap; water is directed down and out through the seams, not trapped in valleys where algae and debris clog asphalt roofs. Each panel interlocks four ways, so water cannot find a path up between them. Installed over solid decking with underlayment — standard practice — any water that somehow breaches the panels drains immediately to the gutters. The shallow slope profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake) still shed heavy rain effectively because the smooth aluminum surface offers no friction to slow drainage, unlike the granular texture of asphalt that collects standing water and accelerates deterioration.
Can a metal roof really cut cooling costs in a place like Whites?
Yes — even with only about 3252 annual sunshine hours, reflective metal roofing reduces heat absorption. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it the way dark asphalt does. In Whites' mild climate (mean 13.9°C), the benefit compounds: less heat soaked into the attic means less work for air conditioning in summer and faster heat loss in winter. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable performance. Lower attic temperatures also protect insulation and extend its R-value, cutting year-round heating and cooling drift. Over a 50-year lifespan, that efficiency margin compounds into significant utility savings.
What happens to a metal roof if hail hits it?
Metal roofing sheds hail better than asphalt or wood, and the warranty covers the impact. Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Whites' climate data does not flag hail as a primary risk, spring and early summer can bring severe weather from Pacific systems moving inland. When it does occur, the aluminum's hardness resists denting; if a stone does puncture, it's a localized issue, not a cascade failure like asphalt. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs, potentially recovering part of the material cost. Check with your agent — you may qualify for lower premiums starting year one.
How much maintenance does metal roofing need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles deteriorate visibly after 10–15 years, with granule loss, curling, and algae growth requiring frequent inspection and spot repairs. Wood shakes split, rot, and need treatment. Metal roofing has no granules to shed, no wood to decay, and resists algae and moss because smooth aluminum offers no grip. Interlock panels are warranted against cracking, curling, splitting, and loss of impact resistance — issues that plague traditional materials in Whites' 62 annual freeze-thaw cycles. The 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating prevents chalking and fading. Most owners need only occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal, not seasonal repairs or early replacement.
What warranty does a metal roof come with, and how long will it actually last?
Interlock offers the Guardian Warranty: a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Unlike prorated warranties that pay out less over time, non-prorated means full coverage for as long as you own the home. The warranty is transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. In practice, Interlock has manufactured roofing since 1998 (over 25 years in the market), and installations exist from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. At Whites' moderate climate — ~1113 mm rain, 29 cm snow, and 62 freeze-thaw days annually — this system typically outlasts 3–4 asphalt roofs, making it the last roof you install.
Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes — metal roofing breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Whites' climate; at the end of life, millions of pounds go to landfills annually. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable, and it installs over existing asphalt roofs without tear-off, eliminating the disposal cost and carbon footprint of removal. When the metal roof does eventually reach end of life — 50+ years away — aluminum scrap is worth money and enters the recycling stream, not a dump. The manufacturing footprint is also smaller: lightweight aluminum panels require less trucking and labor than heavy tile or slate alternatives. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance waste. For Whites homeowners choosing a roof that lasts 50 years and recycles cleanly, aluminum is the most environmentally responsible option available.
