The only thing that I feel that they could have improved on was getting the material here when it was supposed to but that was not Interlock Roofing's fault. This is the best roof I've ever had and I would recommend it to anyone.

I was in the trades my whole life, and I really thought that Jesse and his crew did a spectacular job from beginning to end. My wife and I are extremely happy with the roof. It is gorgeous. Everything was terrific. I am very pleased with everything about the roof. It was a lot of money, but I feel in my heart that it was worth it. I don't understand why people still use shingles, and the metal roof amazes me. I think you will see a lot more of them in the future once people catch on.

Review: January 19, 2018

Last March I started looking for a roofing company when I found Interlock Roofing. I was curious about what a metal roof would cost and the durability of the materials. To my surprise, although the cost of a metal roof is pricey it is well worth the extra money. I will never have to worry about having to replace a single shingle again! In the last 2 years, I have had a lot of repairs done on my roof using contractors who were not very good as I soon found out. I kept losing shingles with every wind that would pop up due to poor workmanship. Please believe me that a metal roof installed by Interlock is guaranteed to not come apart, fade or discolor or they will fix any issues found for the life of the roof although I do not expect to have to make a call to them if ever. Interlocks workers spent 2.5 days installing my roof working 11 hours per day. They are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this company 100 percent!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Florence Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Florence Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Florence Township.

What roof styles does Interlock offer, and which profiles work best for homes in Florence Township?

Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the appearance of traditional materials while delivering aluminum's durability in your region's climate—about 1102 mm annual rain, 70 cm snow, and 81 freeze-thaw cycles. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles suit classic residential aesthetics; Shake and Tile appeal to period or custom homes; Standing Seam fits contemporary designs. All five profiles use the same four-way interlocking aluminum construction and carry identical performance ratings, so your choice is purely architectural.

Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt shingles, and does it pay back over time?

Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but eliminates the cycle of replacement every 15–20 years. Because Florence Township experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days annually—a major factor in asphalt degradation—you'd face multiple tear-offs and landfill costs. Interlock's lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, combined with zero maintenance and zero rust risk, means your final roof genuinely becomes your last roof. The transferable 50-year warranty also enhances resale value, recovering the initial premium over the roof's life.

What does Interlock's warranty actually cover, and how long does it last?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, the next owner receives a one-time transferable 50-year term from completion. No asphalt or wood-shake roof matches this protection. In a climate with 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 70 cm of snow, the certainty of never replacing your roof again is a substantial financial and practical advantage.

Can a metal roof rust, especially in humid or snowy climates like ours?

No. Interlock roofing uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. When aluminum is scratched, its oxide layer self-heals automatically—a property steel roofing lacks. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, providing a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. With about 1102 mm annual precipitation and frequent freeze-thaw events in Florence Township, aluminum's corrosion immunity gives you complete peace of mind.

Is a metal roof fire-safe, and does it qualify for Class A fire rating?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification—the highest rating. Aluminum cannot ignite or contribute to flame spread. This meets or exceeds building codes in Illinois, including the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance) and CALGreen verification. If wildfire risk, proximity to industrial areas, or local fire codes are a concern, Class A certification and non-combustibility provide both code compliance and genuine safety assurance.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or shake?

Interlock roofing requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which deteriorate under freeze-thaw cycling (81 days annually in Florence Township), or wood shake, which splits, rots, and demands regular sealing and inspection, aluminum panels need only occasional rinsing if debris accumulates. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance burden. No algae grows on aluminum, no patches are needed, and no structural inspections are required. This simplicity saves thousands in service calls over the roof's life.

Will a metal roof help sell my home or increase its resale value?

A lasting, distinctive roof enhances curb appeal and signals low-maintenance ownership to buyers. Because Interlock's Guardian Warranty is one-time transferable—giving the next owner a 50-year term from completion—buyers recognize they are inheriting a roof they will never replace. This certainty, combined with the architectural appeal of profiles like Slate, Cedar Shingle, or Tile, differentiates your home in Florence Township's market. The elimination of visible asphalt deterioration and the luxury appearance of authentic-looking materials strengthen perceived home value.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice buildup in Illinois winters?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice effectively because of their smooth, sloped surface and minimal friction. With about 70 cm of annual snow in Florence Township, shedding is crucial for safety and load management. The lightweight aluminum construction—the Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile—means your home's structure carries minimal additional weight even under snow. Snow guards are available to control shedding in areas near walkways. The non-porous aluminum surface also resists the freeze-thaw cracking that devastates asphalt and wood in your climate's 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles.

Can a metal roof withstand the wind and gusts we get in Illinois?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking mechanical connection locks panels together, preventing uplift or separation. Florence Township experiences typical daily-max winds around 20 km/h with gusts to 102 km/h—well within the warranty range. This design far exceeds asphalt shingles, which are vulnerable to edge lifting and blow-off in strong gusts. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 documents this wind performance under building code standards.

Does a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer, and is it energy-efficient?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers energy-efficiency-certified colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (example: Aged Copper Penny)—meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Florence Township receives about 3056 hours of annual sunshine, so reflective metal roofing reduces cooling load during warm months. energy-efficiency coatings lower surface temperature compared to traditional dark asphalt, lowering air-conditioning energy use. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty against fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), reflectivity is preserved, sustaining energy savings for decades.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Florence Township’s climate?

Yes. Florence Township averages about 70 cm of snow, 1102 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 102 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
