| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

The color presentation of the metals needs to be better.
I was in the trades my whole life, and I really thought that Jesse and his crew did a spectacular job from beginning to end. My wife and I are extremely happy with the roof. It is gorgeous. Everything was terrific. I am very pleased with everything about the roof. It was a lot of money, but I feel in my heart that it was worth it. I don't understand why people still use shingles, and the metal roof amazes me. I think you will see a lot more of them in the future once people catch on.
The roof is gorgeous, best money ever spent. Chuck was great at explaining the system. Allen was a true pleasure to work with and there are no words to describe the excellent job Jesse and his wonderful crew did. I am truly impressed beyond belief with Interlock.
I love the outcome of the roof. It is absolutely beautiful. They were professional when they did the install. They don't need to improve. They are doing an excellent job.
He was on time, early actually. It was a very god experience. He did not pressure me, but he gave me a lot of good information. It was rather pricey, but I understand why
Last March I started looking for a roofing company when I found Interlock Roofing. I was curious about what a metal roof would cost and the durability of the materials. To my surprise, although the cost of a metal roof is pricey it is well worth the extra money. I will never have to worry about having to replace a single shingle again! In the last 2 years, I have had a lot of repairs done on my roof using contractors who were not very good as I soon found out. I kept losing shingles with every wind that would pop up due to poor workmanship. Please believe me that a metal roof installed by Interlock is guaranteed to not come apart, fade or discolor or they will fix any issues found for the life of the roof although I do not expect to have to make a call to them if ever. Interlocks workers spent 2.5 days installing my roof working 11 hours per day. They are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this company 100 percent!
I would if they did what they said. The didn't put a sign in the front yard They could have improved on their communication. I would like to receive my referral check that I am still waiting on.
It was expensive so I decided to go with the shingles.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Frankfort Square
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Frankfort Square, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Frankfort Square.
Will a metal roof handle Frankfort Square's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens through freeze-thaw stress rather than degrading like asphalt or wood. With about 81 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 70 cm of winter snow, your roof faces real cycling demands. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) was designed for exactly these conditions and has performed in climates far harsher. The four-way interlocking panels also shed ice and snow uniformly, preventing the buildup that triggers leaks in traditional roofing materials.
Why can't aluminum roofing rust, and does that matter here?
Aluminum contains no iron, so rust is physically impossible—it forms only when iron oxidizes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that seals itself when scratched, providing ongoing protection. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant coating maintenance or will rust through. In Will County's 1102 mm annual rainfall and variable humidity, this self-healing oxide is a genuine advantage: you'll never face the rust stains, weakening, or perforation that steel homeowners experience after 10-15 years.
How does a metal roof perform in heavy snow?
Interlock's smooth, interlocking panels shed snow and ice efficiently because their slick surface breaks the bond that causes snow load to stick. Frankfort Square averages about 70 cm of snow annually with gusts reaching 102 km/h—conditions that can load traditional shingles unevenly and create ice dams. The panels' geometry allows snow to slide rather than accumulate in pockets, and the light weight (Slate profile ~0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even after heavy accumulation. Snow guards are available if you prefer to control roof runoff.
What hail protection does Interlock roofing offer?
Interlock's aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior rating may qualify you for homeowner's insurance discounts; contact your insurer with the UL 2218 certification. Will County's thunderstorm season and hail risk are real concerns, but aluminum's resilience under impact stress and the explicit perforation coverage give you genuine protection that asphalt shingles cannot match.
Can a metal roof stay secure in Frankfort Square's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph, and the four-way interlocking design distributes lateral stress across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating it on fasteners. With typical daily-max winds around 20 km/h and gusts reaching 102 km/h, your roof will perform well within this safety margin. The mechanical interlock (not nail-dependent) prevents the panel lift and flutter that cause traditional shingles to fail, so you'll avoid the emergency repairs and leaks that follow severe wind events.
What warranty protection comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance loss. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the roof's completion date. This combination means you're buying the last roof you'll install, and if you sell, the warranty adds genuine value to your home. Few roofing products offer non-prorated lifetime protection, making this a rare long-term security promise.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over a 50+ year lifespan, metal roofing eliminates the cycle of asphalt replacement every 15-20 years, saving thousands in labor and material costs. You'll also avoid costly structural repairs triggered by rot or water damage—asphalt's leading failure cause in rainy climates like Will County (1102 mm rain yearly). Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty and transferability add resale appeal and buyer confidence. When you sum avoided replacements, extended intervals between maintenance, and the elimination of emergency repairs, the initial premium typically recovers within 15-20 years.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Interlock aluminum requires only annual gutters cleaning and occasional visual inspection—no coating reapplication, no repairs to splitting shingles or rotting wood. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so color doesn't fade into maintenance. Frankfort Square's roughly 3056 annual sunshine hours and 1102 mm rain mean UV and moisture exposure, but aluminum doesn't degrade from either. Wood shake and tile demand regular sealing; asphalt requires frequent repairs. Metal essentially replaces this burden with periodic debris clearance—a genuine maintenance advantage.
Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into living spaces. Frankfort Square's 3056 annual sunshine hours mean real cooling demand in summer months, and reflective metal roofing can reduce roof surface temperature by 30-40°F compared to asphalt. You won't see dramatic electric bills savings in moderate climates, but the cumulative reduction in cooling load over decades, combined with improved comfort and extended HVAC lifespan, justifies choosing a Cool Roof Rating Council-rated profile.
Does metal roofing require expensive structural reinforcement?
No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and can be installed directly over most existing roofs without structural upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile (~0.58 lb/sq ft) requires no reinforcement. This means you avoid the $3,000-$8,000 cost of beam or rafter upgrades that traditional heavy tile demands. The lightweight design also simplifies installation, reduces labor time, and makes it feasible to overlay an old roof rather than tear off and landfill it—a practical and sustainable advantage for most Frankfort Square homes.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Frankfort Square’s climate?
Yes. Frankfort Square averages about 70 cm of snow, 1102 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 102 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
