| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
He was on time, early actually. It was a very god experience. He did not pressure me, but he gave me a lot of good information. It was rather pricey, but I understand why
The color presentation of the metals needs to be better.
I was in the trades my whole life, and I really thought that Jesse and his crew did a spectacular job from beginning to end. My wife and I are extremely happy with the roof. It is gorgeous. Everything was terrific. I am very pleased with everything about the roof. It was a lot of money, but I feel in my heart that it was worth it. I don't understand why people still use shingles, and the metal roof amazes me. I think you will see a lot more of them in the future once people catch on.
The roof is gorgeous, best money ever spent. Chuck was great at explaining the system. Allen was a true pleasure to work with and there are no words to describe the excellent job Jesse and his wonderful crew did. I am truly impressed beyond belief with Interlock.
This is a trustworthy company. So far everything was on time. The job was completely done neatly. I don't see any areas where the company could have improved. I love it so far. I am just waiting to see what is going to happen, but so far so good. We are going to get a credit from my insurance company, because of the job that was done.
Last March I started looking for a roofing company when I found Interlock Roofing. I was curious about what a metal roof would cost and the durability of the materials. To my surprise, although the cost of a metal roof is pricey it is well worth the extra money. I will never have to worry about having to replace a single shingle again! In the last 2 years, I have had a lot of repairs done on my roof using contractors who were not very good as I soon found out. I kept losing shingles with every wind that would pop up due to poor workmanship. Please believe me that a metal roof installed by Interlock is guaranteed to not come apart, fade or discolor or they will fix any issues found for the life of the roof although I do not expect to have to make a call to them if ever. Interlocks workers spent 2.5 days installing my roof working 11 hours per day. They are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this company 100 percent!
I would if they did what they said. The didn't put a sign in the front yard They could have improved on their communication. I would like to receive my referral check that I am still waiting on.
It was expensive so I decided to go with the shingles.
Jesse went above expectations!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Homer Glen
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Homer Glen, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Homer Glen.
Can a metal roof handle Homer Glen's annual snow load?
Yes—aluminum's light weight and smooth surface actually prevent snow and ice buildup better than asphalt. Homer Glen averages about 70 cm of snow annually with roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the exact conditions that crack and curl traditional shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which sheds snow safely without the structural stress that heavy slate or concrete tile would impose. The smooth finish means snow slides rather than adheres, reducing ice dam risk during those freeze-thaw swings.
Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides. When scratched, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals invisibly. This matters in Will County's 1,102 mm annual rainfall: steel roofs corrode from moisture exposure, but aluminum grows an impermeable barrier instead. The 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested) protects the finish while the substrate remains immune to rust.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductibles or time limits. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding documented value to resale. Few roofing products offer non-prorated protection over a homeowner's entire ownership. For Homer Glen's 81 annual freeze-thaw days, this guarantee covers the cracking and curling that destroy asphalt and wood shingles within 15–20 years, making Interlock your genuinely final roof.
How does Interlock perform in hail, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock holds the highest hail rating available: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That independent third-party rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because claims risk drops dramatically. Homer Glen's severe weather includes wind gusts to 102 km/h and heavy spring storms typical of Will County, where hail damage claims spike. Class 4 means the panel withstands impacts that crack or perforate asphalt shingles and most competitor metal roofs. Ask your insurer about discounts; many carriers recognize UL 2218 Class 4 as loss-prevention.
Will I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?
No reinforcement is needed—Interlock panels are extraordinarily light. The Slate installs at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, making the Tile profile about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs without structural work. Homer Glen homes built to IRC/IBC standards (verified by ESR-1790 evaluation) handle that load easily. Traditional tile or slate would require expensive beam and truss upgrades; aluminum eliminates that cost entirely while delivering the authentic visual profile you want.
Can Interlock install over my existing asphalt roof?
Yes—the lightweight design allows installation over most existing roofing. A solid deck and proper underlayment are required; our local installer has served the region since 2001 and will assess your specific home during the free evaluation. Installation typically completes in days rather than weeks, minimizing disruption. Because Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (compared to 100+ lb/sq ft for slate), the old roof often stays in place, saving landfill waste and labor. The four-way interlocking system creates a watertight seal that performs identically whether installed over new sheathing or existing substrate, per ICC-ES ESR-1790.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?
Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum never rots, cracks, or curls, eliminating the bi-annual inspections and repairs those materials demand. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 verified), so the finish stays intact through Homer Glen's 3,056 annual sunshine hours without degradation. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection after severe storms is prudent, but Interlock's non-combustible aluminum and self-healing oxide layer require no sealants, re-coating, or replacement of split shingles. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced-maintenance profile saves money and time over the roof's life.
Do energy-efficiency metal roofing colors actually lower cooling costs?
Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling demand. Aged Copper Penny achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 with thermal emissivity of 0.84, Cool Roof Rating Council verified. In climates with significant cooling seasons, this translates to measurable utility savings; even Homer Glen's cooler profile—mean temperature 10.8°C and about 3,056 sunshine hours annually—benefits from reduced peak-summer cooling loads. The reflective finish minimizes heat absorption without sacrificing the authentic Slate, Cedar Shingle, or Tile aesthetic. energy-efficiency certification means your color choice meets EPA thermal performance standards.
Is a metal roof safer in a fire than asphalt or wood?
Yes—aluminum is non-combustible and Interlock offers Class A fire classification (the highest available), verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790. Asphalt and wood shingles are combustible and contribute to structure fires; aluminum cannot ignite. Class A means the roof withstands even severe fire exposure without sustaining flaming or glowing combustion. For Homer Glen homeowners concerned about wildfire risk or wanting peace of mind during high-wind fire weather, non-combustibility is a genuine safety advantage that also may reduce homeowners insurance premiums. This rating is independent, third-party tested, and recognized by building codes nationwide.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Yes, when you account for the full lifespan cost. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in freeze-thaw climates like Homer Glen's (81 annual cycles), requiring at least two full replacements in a typical ownership period. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty and transferable 50-year term for the next owner deliver performance across multiple generations with no replacement cost. Material durability, zero rust risk, minimal maintenance, and insurance-discount potential offset higher initial investment. Homer Glen's 70 cm snow, 102 km/h wind gusts, and 1,102 mm rainfall accelerate asphalt failure; Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance and 120 mph wind warranty eliminate those repeat costs. Calculate your true cost per year of ownership—aluminum wins decisively.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Homer Glen’s climate?
Yes. Homer Glen averages about 70 cm of snow, 1102 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 102 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
