I was in the trades my whole life, and I really thought that Jesse and his crew did a spectacular job from beginning to end. My wife and I are extremely happy with the roof. It is gorgeous. Everything was terrific. I am very pleased with everything about the roof. It was a lot of money, but I feel in my heart that it was worth it. I don't understand why people still use shingles, and the metal roof amazes me. I think you will see a lot more of them in the future once people catch on.

Review: January 19, 2018

Last March I started looking for a roofing company when I found Interlock Roofing. I was curious about what a metal roof would cost and the durability of the materials. To my surprise, although the cost of a metal roof is pricey it is well worth the extra money. I will never have to worry about having to replace a single shingle again! In the last 2 years, I have had a lot of repairs done on my roof using contractors who were not very good as I soon found out. I kept losing shingles with every wind that would pop up due to poor workmanship. Please believe me that a metal roof installed by Interlock is guaranteed to not come apart, fade or discolor or they will fix any issues found for the life of the roof although I do not expect to have to make a call to them if ever. Interlocks workers spent 2.5 days installing my roof working 11 hours per day. They are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this company 100 percent!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Beecher

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Beecher, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Beecher.

Will a metal roof handle Beecher's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?

Yes—aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it won't crack, rot, or split the way wood shakes and clay tile do. Beecher experiences about 70 freeze-thaw days per year, a cycle that destroys asphalt and stone shingles by trapping moisture in micro-cracks. Aluminum's oxide layer seals the metal and remains intact through repeated freezing and thawing. The three-inch panels interlock four ways, allowing micro-movement while staying watertight. This is why The Guardian Warranty covers cracking and splitting—conditions that simply don't occur with aluminum.

Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum contains no iron, so rust—which is iron oxide—cannot form. Instead, a microscopically thin oxide layer naturally forms on aluminum and self-heals when scratched, providing passive corrosion resistance that lasts indefinitely. Steel roofing, by contrast, relies on paint or coatings to prevent rust; once that coating is damaged, rust begins. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum with a 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides for extra protection in salt air and industrial environments. In Beecher's moist climate with about 1,042 mm of annual rainfall, this dual protection means your roof stays sound for decades without the rust-through failures that eventually claim coated steel roofs.

How does a metal roof perform under Beecher's snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more readily than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface reduces friction—ice cannot bond to aluminum the way it does to rough shingles. Beecher receives about 68 cm of snow annually, and freeze-thaw cycling (70 days per year here) is what creates ice dams. Aluminum's superior thermal conductivity and low thermal mass mean the roof warms slightly from interior heat, allowing melted water to run rather than refreeze at the eaves. Snow guards can be added if you want to retain snow for insulation; without them, the roof naturally sheds. The lightweight panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) carry no structural risk even when snow does accumulate momentarily.

Will a metal roof reduce my homeowners insurance in a hail-prone area?

Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs because they dramatically reduce claims. Interlock panels meet Class 4, the highest available rating, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your agent with the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 and Intertek listing 33876—these third-party certifications often trigger premium reductions. While Beecher's average wind gusts are about 93 km/h, severe thunderstorms in Will County can produce larger hail. A Class 4 aluminum roof won't dent permanently like asphalt does, won't split like wood, and won't crack like tile. Get a quote from your insurer before deciding; the discount may offset a meaningful portion of your project cost.

Can a metal roof withstand Beecher's wind and storm gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist 120 mph winds (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Beecher's typical gusts reach about 93 km/h, well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking design—where each panel's edges lock into its neighbors on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This means during the thunderstorms and spring winds common in Will County, the panels flex as a unified system. The warranty explicitly covers wind-related failures up to 120 mph. Installation over a solid deck with proper fastening (per ESR-1790 guidelines) is what activates this protection; once installed correctly, your roof won't lift, blow off, or allow wind-driven rain penetration.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you calculate the total cost over time. Asphalt roofs last 15–20 years in climates like Beecher's (with 1,042 mm rain and 70 freeze-thaw days annually), requiring tear-off and disposal—plus you buy three roofs in 60 years. Aluminum roofs last indefinitely with The Guardian's lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner, plus a 50-year transferable term for the next owner. After 20 years, an asphalt roof is in a landfill; your aluminum roof is still performing. You skip multiple tear-offs, disposal costs, and repeated labor. Initial cost is higher, but lifetime cost per year drops sharply. Energy savings from energy-efficiency reflective coatings (aged copper at 0.55 solar reflectance) reduce summer cooling demand in warmer months. For your last roof, aluminum is the rational choice.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Almost none compared to asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Aluminum won't rot, split, curl, or require re-nailing. Leaves and debris rinse off naturally with Beecher's roughly 1,042 mm of annual rainfall; no shingle replacement or patching is needed. Wood shakes crack in freeze-thaw cycles and harbor moss; clay tiles break and leak; asphalt curls and deteriorates. Your metal roof remains CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Gutters may collect debris, but the roof surface itself stays intact. Periodic visual inspections (every 5–10 years) confirm fasteners are tight, but the four-way interlocking design prevents most fastener-related issues. Paint doesn't peel because the 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF coating is factory-applied to both sides. This is why The Guardian Warranty covers splitting, cracking, and curling—they simply don't occur with aluminum.

How long does installation take, and can it be installed over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof complexity, with experienced crews working efficiently and safely. Yes, aluminum's extraordinarily light weight (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile) allows installation directly over most existing asphalt roofs without structural reinforcement. This saves removal and disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving the region since 2001, handles both tear-off and overlay installations to ensure ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance. The installer will inspect your deck, fasten the panels per code (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025), and seal perimeter details. A solid deck, proper underlayment, and specification-compliant fastening activate your 120 mph wind warranty and ensure Beecher's heavy rainfall (1,042 mm annually) drains cleanly. Installers coordinate around your schedule and weather windows.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile instead of standing seam?

Yes—Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each replicates traditional materials using embossed aluminum panels with authentic shadow lines and dimensioning. Slate mimics layered stone; Cedar Shingle captures wood grain and spacing; Shake replicates split-wood texture; Mediterranean Tile reflects curved barrel-tile geometry. Standing Seam is the modern industrial profile. All five profiles interlock four ways, meet ICC-ES ESR-1790, come in Class A fire-rated options, and carry The Guardian Warranty. Color and profile choices are yours; the underlying durability is identical. In Beecher, where about 3,025 sunshine hours per year expose your roof, the color you choose affects both aesthetics and energy performance—energy-efficient options reflect more solar heat (up to 0.55 reflectance), reducing cooling demand without sacrificing the look you want.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, meaning your roof can re-enter the supply chain indefinitely. Asphalt shingles are tear-off waste destined for landfills—Beecher homeowners replace asphalt roofs roughly every 15–20 years, cycling materials through disposal rather than recovery. Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum has been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and uses proven, efficient smelting and rolling processes. The lifetime durability (The Guardian's non-prorated warranty plus 50-year transfer term) means one aluminum roof replaces three asphalt roofs over 60 years—fewer material inputs, zero landfill contribution from your roof. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced-maintenance profile. For Beecher homeowners seeking responsible material choices, aluminum ends the tear-off-to-landfill cycle while delivering performance through 70 freeze-thaw days annually and 1,042 mm of rainfall.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Beecher’s climate?

Yes. Beecher averages about 68 cm of snow, 1042 mm of rain, roughly 70 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 93 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
