Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tri-Taylor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Tri-Taylor, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Tri-Taylor.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice the way asphalt does in Illinois winters?

Metal roofing handles snow and ice better than asphalt because the four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that resists ice dam formation, and the material's light weight—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—won't sag under Tri-Taylor's typical 73 cm annual snowfall. Unlike asphalt, aluminum doesn't become brittle in freeze-thaw cycles; with approximately 69 freeze-thaw days per year in your area, this matters significantly. Snow guards are available if you prefer added control. The sealed panel interlocks shed water and ice more efficiently than traditional shingles, reducing the pooling that causes leaks.

Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones, especially in Illinois weather?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the material beneath. Interlock panels are made from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish for an additional 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. With Tri-Taylor's 1,024 mm of annual rainfall and typical wind gusts to 95 km/h, this dual-layer protection—aluminum plus fluorocarbon—keeps your roof performing without the rust concerns that plague steel alternatives.

How does a metal roof hold up to Tri-Taylor's freeze-thaw cycles year after year?

Aluminum's crystalline structure doesn't weaken or crack under repeated freeze-thaw stress the way asphalt becomes brittle and wood shakes split. Tri-Taylor averages about 69 freeze-thaw cycles annually, and aluminum simply expands and contracts without degradation. The Guardian warranty covers cracking and splitting—conditions that plague traditional materials in your climate. The four-way interlocking panel system also allows for uniform thermal movement, so no single panel bears the full stress. After more than 25 years of installations, Interlock roofs in similar climates show no deterioration from this cycle.

Can an older Tri-Taylor home support a metal roof, or will I need expensive structural work?

Most homes need no structural reinforcement because Interlock metal roofing weighs a fraction of what you'd expect. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for instance, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, installing at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—comparable to asphalt shingles. This extreme lightness also means the roof typically installs directly over your existing shingles, eliminating a costly tear-off and landfill hauling. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms installation suitability over standard residential framing. A local engineer can confirm your specific home's capacity, but the vast majority of Tri-Taylor properties never require reinforcement.

Is a metal roof safe in Tri-Taylor's spring and fall wind events?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, far exceeding Tri-Taylor's typical daily-maximum winds of about 25 km/h and gusts to 95 km/h. The panels lock together on all four sides, creating a unified structural membrane that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners or edges. This design is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air regions to Antarctic research stations, where wind and environmental stress are extreme. Your warranty covers wind-related failures.

What warranty comes with Interlock, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, an enormous advantage in resale. Non-prorated means you're covered the same on year one as year 30—no declining percentages. Combined with Interlock's 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested), you're protected across the full lifecycle. For a Tri-Taylor home you plan to keep or sell, this is the last roof you'll likely install.

What metal roofing styles does Interlock offer, and do they actually look like traditional materials?

Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the visual character of its namesake while delivering aluminum's durability. The profiles are manufactured as true four-way interlocking panels in roofing-grade 3105-H24/3003-H24 aluminum, finished in Alunar 70% PVDF for color consistency. The dimensional depth and shadow lines mimic real material authenticity. Choose Slate for a refined, clean appearance; Cedar Shingle or Shake for traditional charm; Tile for Mediterranean or Southwestern character; or Standing Seam for modern minimalism. All profiles perform identically in Tri-Taylor's 73 cm annual snowfall and 1,024 mm rain.

Will a metal roof keep my home cooler in summer, or is that just marketing?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Measured thermal emissivity reaches 0.84, and initial solar reflectance goes as high as 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. This means less heat enters your attic, lowering air-conditioning load during warm months. Tri-Taylor receives approximately 3,094 sunshine hours yearly, making reflectance meaningful even in a temperate climate. The reflective benefit isn't dramatic—air-sealing and insulation matter more—but it's measurable and verified by third parties, not marketing. Combined with a solid deck and underlayment, the cooling effect is real without the noise drawback some expect from metal roofing.

How much upkeep does an Interlock metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no seasonal inspections, no shingle replacement, no moss treatment, no wood preservative reapplication. Unlike asphalt shingles that curl and lose granules in Tri-Taylor's 69 annual freeze-thaw cycles, or wood shakes that split and rot, aluminum and its Alunar 70% PVDF coating remain stable. The CALGreen program verifies Interlock for reduced maintenance. Gutters still need seasonal cleaning, and nearby tree debris should be cleared, but the roof itself outlives three asphalt roofs with zero material degradation. This simplicity is especially valuable for older homes where roof access is difficult or dangerous, saving you years of climbing and worry.

Does Interlock have local service in Tri-Taylor, Illinois, or am I ordering from out of state?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Tri-Taylor region since 2001, providing installation, warranty service, and local knowledge of Cook County weather conditions. The team understands how 1,024 mm annual rainfall, 73 cm snow, and 69 freeze-thaw days affect roof performance in your specific area. Having a local installer with two decades of regional experience means faster response to questions, easier warranty processing, and confidence that your roof is installed to the exacting standards required by ICC-ES ESR-1790 and UL testing. You're not working with a national call center; you're working with neighbors who've roofed hundreds of Tri-Taylor homes.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Tri-Taylor’s climate?

Yes. Tri-Taylor averages about 73 cm of snow, 1024 mm of rain, roughly 69 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
