What our customers are saying:
Last summer I realized I was in the need of a new roof on my old home which was built in 1876. I was hoping I could find a roof that accentuated the uniqueness and beauty of my old farm-style house. I always dreamed of owning a home with a metal roof, so I thought, well, let’s give this a look and see if it is an option. After searching for roofers and making some calls I found no one in my area offering metal roofs, needless to say, I became discouraged. Then, one day, on Facebook, I happened to see an ad with Midwest Roofing/Interlock Roofing showing the exact type of roof I was looking for!! I was so excited and called the number and was able to have an appointment arranged that very weekend. John came out, did some measuring, got up in my attic, then we sat and had a long, very informative discussion. John was extremely patient with my numerous questions and was able to explain things to me in layman’s terms, as I am not adept in the construction business, at all. So, the nitty gritty…I was originally thinking standing seam going into this whole project but then out came the slate look and oh my, that was it…The roof I had been looking for. It was exactly what needed to be on top of my house!!! And the black color just spoke to me…. John agreed!! Nowhere else had I ever seen a roof like the one I was about to have put on my beloved home. So, the price, while I knew a metal roof was going to cost more, I was looking more for security and peace of mind. I am a single parent of a child on the autism spectrum. I knew that I did not want to deal with roof issues in the future, the struggle to get a roofer to come to fix their problem, and the thought of having to replace it all over again just a few years down the road. Nope, the extra cost of this one-and-done roof was well worth it to me…after all, how do you put a price tag on peace of mind? And there aren’t many things in this world nowadays that can give you that. So, I signed the contract… The delivery…. how exciting…all these boxes lined up in my driveway…it was getting real!! Installation begins. Never in my lifetime have I met such an amazing installation crew, headed by Jesse. These guys worked tirelessly on transforming my average-looking home into the WOW home on the block. They took great care in working around my cupola and rock chimney, making sure everything was sealed where it needed to be, even reinforcing the cupola as it had been up there for so many years. These guys are not just installers, they are truly artists, and the pride in what they do shines in their workmanship. Even the care in the cleanup was amazing…very impressed. Any company can put out an amazing product, but for that product to remain amazing, that company has to have professional team members working with the customers…that is what you will get if you go with Interlock. Not just a stand-out product but a stand-out crew from sales, scheduling, and installation…it’s the whole package.
The roof is gorgeous, best money ever spent. Chuck was great at explaining the system. Allen was a true pleasure to work with and there are no words to describe the excellent job Jesse and his wonderful crew did. I am truly impressed beyond belief with Interlock.
We had replaced one roof in the time we had owned our home, and now it was time for the second replacement. I began to wonder if there were any alternatives to old asphalt technology. Also, we had two concerns about asphalt, the first is that it is not clean from an environmental standpoint and second, asphalt is oil based which means its cost is linked with the price of oil. I noticed that many commercial buildings had metal roofs. My wife and I usually do a lot of deep research for major home projects. We began looking into the possibility of replacing the current roof with metal. Our research indicated that there were residential metal roofs available in various metals and styles. Four factors need to be considered. Type of metal. We chose aluminum over steel. It’s lighter and less susceptible to corrosion, although corrosion is not a major factor due to the various coatings and treatments applied to both metals during the manufacturing process. Structural assembly. We liked the Interlock method of attaching the panels to each other and the roof base. When complete, the system is structurally sound and waterproof. Installation process. Installing a metal roof requires experience. Installation is different from that of an asphalt roof. During our research, we had a hard time locating installers that had experience installing residential metal roofs. This was another reason that we chose Interlock. They are associated with installation crews who have the knowledge and experience required for working with the Interlock product. The only other factor to consider is the style and color, and there are many to choose from. Installation was uneventful, the crew was courteous, and they explained exactly what they were doing and answered any questions that we had. The roof looks beautiful, and we have had many compliments on it since it was installed two weeks ago. We are very happy that we chose Interlock for this project and highly recommend them.
Our new roof is beautiful! We have received so many compliments and inquiries since our Interlock roof was installed four weeks ago. John delivered on his promise with a quality product and set up the stage for what was to come, answering all our early questions and showing us the information we were looking for to make a confident decision. He provided us with installation pictures of previous jobs, the product specifications, color and type of samples, historical data on product performance and much more. Dal from customer service responded quickly with dates when the material was arriving and dates for the installation. After some concerns about having to travel for work and being out of town, Al communicated well, and they worked around my travel schedule my family appreciated this greatly. The roof is not any louder during several of the storms we have had already than before. Despite a few outside temperatures reaching the 80s and sunny, the inside of the house has stayed cool without needing to turn on the AC or ceiling fans. It really is a new experience to walk into our second-level rooms and not have it feel warmer than the lower level. The installation crew did a great job. They told us everything they were doing and answered all of our questions. The fire department even stopped by during the installation to ask what it was! The crew completed the job in 4 days, working over the weekend to finish before the next storm. They left the yard clean every night, and they cleared out the gutters from all of the debris. After watching the team install the new roof safely, we have come to appreciate the craftsmanship that comes with installing this type of roof. The crews are proud of the product, and their care shows in the installation. Putting on this new roof requires a lot of skill, a lot of hours, and experience that I think new owners won’t realize until observing them and going through it. Minimal waste scraps, efficiently making thousands of measurements and metal shaping to perfectly fit all the corners and bends is a testament to the experience our crew, led by Jesse and Sal, had. This Interlock company has been great and there have been so many people referenced here that have worked to provide us a great customer experience. To the whole team, great job, and thank you. We look forward to the many years this roof will continuously perform as it was designed and the many more times we will appreciate the beauty of it.
The process was seamless, it was a no-headache, no-hassle experience and the roof looks amazing. The team was fast, respectful, and really took the time to make sure we understood everything that was going on. They were very safe and considerate of my dogs going in and out of the backyard, and took extra time to clean up everything each day, and especially when they finished the job. And not a single plant damaged (which is amazing, because they are planted right up next to the house)! They were friendly and communicative, and took care of everything. It was a great experience, and we now have the most beautiful roof on the block. I think the scheduling team could have been a little bit more proactive in terms of communication in the time between the signing of the contract and the installation, but obviously it all worked out just fine, so they clearly were doing everything they needed to be doing scheduling-wise, and it ultimately didn't influence the experience all that much, especially since John Mondschean (sales) was so accommodating and communicative throughout the process. There have been a lot of new roofs going on in my neighborhood since the big double hailstorm last year, and I can confidently say that ours is the most beautiful, and the team that installed it was the cleanest and most considerate. There was not a single piece of plastic, nail, etc. left behind after they were done, and they were pretty quiet throughout the process, which was important to me as I work from home.
Interlock Metal Roofing is an amazing company to do business with. My salesperson John was professional and knowledgeable. It is a big investment, but absolutely worth it. The installation crew was on time, hardworking and conscientious. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants a roof to last 100 years!
I love the outcome of the roof. It is absolutely beautiful. They were professional when they did the install. They don't need to improve. They are doing an excellent job.
I just want to say the Interlock team did an excellent job installing my roof. The installation team were craftsman, cordial, punctual, and they did a great job of keeping the work site clean at the end of each day. As far as the roof I love the look of the black standing seam with the dark gray Hardie Board siding, and I can already tell that the roof is keeping my house and garage cooler.
Jesse was very professional and knowledgeable about the product. He answered any questions we had about the roof. It all went great! They could have kept me updated instead of me having to continually call for updates. They could have gave me a status but they didn't.
I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.
Areas where flashing needs to extend beyond a vertical surface i.e. chimney's, second story corners, you need a method to provide a more professional look when making cuts in aluminum siding. Happy with my decision to purchase a roof from Interlock. It looks great. Time will tell if it will perform as promised.
Communication could have been better prior to the project starting. They communicated wonderfully until we paid our down payment. Then communication ceased. There was no communication until we reached out to them expressing our concerns. Once the project started communication was phenomenal. The roof looks extraordinary. We have had some heavy rain and our roof has held up wonderfully and it is beautiful. We believe it is a better quality than others.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in West Town
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in West Town, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in West Town.
Will a metal roof handle West Town's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens under repeated freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt and wood shingles that crack and curl. West Town experiences about 69 freeze-thaw days per year across roughly 73 cm of annual snow, creating conditions where roofing materials expand and contract constantly. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly this cycling; the oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing the moisture infiltration that degrades other materials. The four-way interlocking panels lock out water at every seam, so no ice-dam water can seep under panels and refreeze.
How does metal roofing perform under heavy snow loads in Illinois?
Interlock metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because its smooth, sloped panels naturally release accumulation before it becomes structurally dangerous. West Town averages about 73 cm of snow annually, and snow guards can be installed on any Interlock profile to control intentional release and protect walkways below. More importantly, the panels are extraordinarily light—the Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft, so the snow load is far less critical than with slate or tile. This light weight means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof installs directly over most existing roofs, saving time and cost.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofs?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron, the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched—a natural defense that improves with age. This matters enormously in West Town, where 1024 mm of annual rainfall and 73 cm of snow create wet, acidic conditions that would accelerate rust on steel roofing. Interlock panels are also coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adding a second barrier against moisture and salt-laden air carried from Lake Michigan.
Can Interlock panels withstand West Town's wind gusts?
Interlock's four-way interlocking design is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), far exceeding typical West Town conditions where gusts average about 95 km/h. The interlocking seams—not fasteners alone—transfer wind load across the entire roof plane, so uplift pressure dissipates rather than concentrating on individual panels. West Town's typical daily-max winds of 25 km/h with occasional gusts to 95 km/h pose no challenge to this engineered system. The warranty covers wind-related panel failure and separation when installed to specification, giving you written protection against the area's most aggressive seasonal storms.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs in Illinois?
Interlock panels carry the highest available hail rating—UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability can qualify you for insurance discounts; speak with your agent about your specific policy. West Town's 3094 hours of annual sunshine mean the roof is exposed year-round, and when hail does strike, aluminum's resilience prevents the cascading damage (cracking, curling, granule loss) that drives asphalt shingle claims. Class 4 rating means the roof has been tested against impact energy far beyond typical severe hail, so most summer storms leave Interlock unscathed.
Can I install a metal roof over my existing roof without reinforcing the structure?
Yes—Interlock's extreme lightness eliminates the need for structural reinforcement in nearly all cases. The Tile profile, which visually matches clay or concrete tile, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the materials it imitates. This matters in West Town, where older homes and buildings were never designed for traditional tile's weight; you avoid tens of thousands in framing upgrades and can often install Interlock directly over your existing roof, cutting labor and timeline. The light weight also reduces thermal expansion stress during the area's 69 annual freeze-thaw cycles, further protecting your structure's integrity.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?
Interlock requires virtually no maintenance—no seasonal debris removal, no sealant reapplication, no moss or algae treatment. Gutters collect runoff as normal; heavy rainfall (averaging 1024 mm annually in West Town) runs cleanly off the smooth panels without degrading the roof. Compare this to asphalt shingles, which require inspection after every severe weather event and typically fail in 15–20 years, or slate and wood shake, which need regular resealing and individual repair. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, meaning the roof's appearance and water-shedding performance remain stable through West Town's 73 cm annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycling without intervention.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion, adding substantial appeal when you sell. This contrasts sharply with asphalt shingles (15–20 year warranty, prorated after year 5) and even premium wood or slate, which require ongoing sealant maintenance. In West Town's harsh climate—1024 mm rain, 73 cm snow, 69 freeze-thaw days annually—this transferable warranty becomes genuine security against the weather cycles that degrade conventional roofs.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more initially but typically becomes the last roof you ever buy, eliminating the cycle of asphalt tear-offs every 15–20 years. West Town's wet climate (1024 mm rain, 73 cm snow annually) accelerates asphalt degradation; you'd likely reroof twice by the time Interlock reaches 50 years. Factor in labor, disposal, and new material for each asphalt replacement, and metal's total cost of ownership is substantially lower over the home's life. The transferable Guardian Warranty—lifetime for you, 50 years for the next owner—also protects resale value in a way asphalt cannot, making the investment recoverable at sale.

Yes. West Town averages about 73 cm of snow, 1024 mm of rain, roughly 69 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h.
