Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Noble Square

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Noble Square, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Noble Square.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile without the weight and maintenance?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each cast from roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy with authentic texture and shadow lines. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than actual clay or concrete tile, so your home's structure needs no reinforcement. All profiles install over your existing roof in most cases, meaning no costly tearoff, and each comes finished in Alunar 70% PVDF on both sides, warranted 30 years against fading. You choose the look you love without the fragility, weight, or lifelong upkeep that comes with real stone or wood.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

Interlock backs its aluminum roofing with The Guardian—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner that covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no gradual reduction in coverage over time; you're protected for life. If you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding measurable value to your home. The aluminum itself is corrosion-proof—it contains no iron and cannot rust—and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, even in Noble Square's freeze-thaw cycle of about 69 days per year, where color stability matters.

Why do people say aluminum roofs don't rust, and does that really matter in Illinois?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, and this alloy is iron-free by design. Instead, when aluminum is exposed to air, a thin oxide layer forms on its surface and actually self-heals when scratched, unlike iron-based materials that oxidize continuously. In Cook County's climate, with about 1024 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling 69 days per year, that self-healing property is genuine insurance: water and salt don't attack the substrate, so you won't face the hidden corrosion that weakens steel roofing from within. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating adds another 30-year layer of protection, turning moisture and temperature swings into non-issues for your roof's structural integrity.

Does a metal roof handle Noble Square's snow and ice buildup safely?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to support full snow loads and resist the freeze-thaw stress that Noble Square experiences about 69 days per year. The lightweight profile—Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58—means snow accumulates less, and the solid deck plus underlayment prevent ice dams from forming at the eave. The panels themselves warrant resistance to wind gusts up to 120 mph and are rated UL 2218 Class 4 for impact, so winter storms with gusts near 95 km/h won't compromise the interlocking seams. You can specify snow guards during installation if you want to manage runoff, but the roof's design and weight naturally shed snow more effectively than heavier materials would.

How strong is the wind resistance when Cook County gets those sudden gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—far beyond Noble Square's typical gusts near 25 km/h or even extreme gusts recorded at 95 km/h. The interlocking design distributes wind force across the entire roof assembly, not through individual fastener points, so each gust strengthens the grip between panels rather than pulling them apart. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating also confirms the aluminum's ability to withstand both impact and lateral stress without deformation. During spring and fall storms, this engineering gives you the peace of mind that your roof won't shift, leak, or require emergency repairs from wind alone.

Will a metal roof crack or warp during Noble Square's freeze-thaw winters?

No. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy—the material in every Interlock panel—maintains its structural integrity through repeated freeze-thaw cycling because metal expands and contracts uniformly and elastically, unlike brittle materials such as slate, concrete, or clay tile. Noble Square experiences about 69 freeze-thaw days per year, and the aluminum's thermal properties mean stress is distributed smoothly rather than concentrated at weak points. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, also protects against moisture infiltration that triggers hidden corrosion in other materials. Your panels won't split, curl, or lose their structural strength as temperatures swing between freezing nights and warmer days.

What happens to a metal roof during hail, and can it affect my insurance?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 testing involves steel balls dropped from 20 feet, and the aluminum passes without loss of impact resistance, meaning hail won't create pinhole leaks or trigger cascading damage. Because metal roofing demonstrates superior hail durability compared to asphalt or wood, many Illinois insurers recognize it as a premium material and offer discounts on homeowners' policies—sometimes 10 to 15 percent. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ESR-1790 code report to discuss potential premium reductions; the investment often pays back within the first few years of ownership.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no patching, sealing, or seasonal inspections like asphalt shingles demand. You won't replace cracked or curled shingles, clear moss from porous tile, or apply sealant every few years. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and with about 3094 sunshine hours per year in Noble Square, the self-cleaning effect of rain washing dust and pollen off the smooth aluminum surface keeps your roof looking new. Twice a decade, a simple rinse removes any debris from eaves or gutters—that's it. Compare this to asphalt, which needs inspection and repair every 3 to 5 years, or slate and tile, which require skilled techs to replace broken pieces. The lifetime limited warranty covers all material defects, so you're never guessing whether a spot needs professional attention.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?

Yes, when you calculate total cost of ownership over 50 or more years. A typical asphalt roof costs less initially but lasts 15 to 20 years, requiring replacement twice or three times in the span an Interlock aluminum roof remains in service. Each tearoff and replacement—labor, disposal fees, disruption—compounds costs. Meanwhile, the lightweight aluminum profile (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) often installs over your existing roof, saving the cost of a full tearoff. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty, non-prorated for the original owner and transferable 50 years to the next, eliminates unexpected repair bills and increases resale appeal. Add in zero maintenance, no seasonal patching, and a 30-year color guarantee on the Alunar 70% PVDF coating, and the math favors aluminum over decades.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Noble Square, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer and local installer, has served Cook County and surrounding regions since 2001. The company manufactures every panel in Delta, BC, and installs its own roofing, meaning the same team that designs the product handles the installation on your home. They understand Illinois freeze-thaw cycles, wind patterns, and snow loads intimately and follow the engineering specifications required for the ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance report. When you choose a local, factory-trained installer over a regional contractor, you get continuity, accountability, and direct access to warranty support if any questions arise after installation. Their 24-year track record in the region—from first installs in 2001 to roofs still performing today—is your assurance that your investment is in capable hands.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Noble Square’s climate?

Yes. Noble Square averages about 73 cm of snow, 1024 mm of rain, roughly 69 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
