What our customers are saying:
This is the roof I’ve been dreaming of since I started to see my old one fail. It looks so sleek and modern and it was a great experience from estimate to installation! N/a Metal roofing is more expensive than asphalt, that’s a known variable. But, I’ll never need to reroof my house again and the last roof only lasted 11-12 years. Jonathan convinced me, vs. another company that uses the same product or similar. It was two long days for the crew who stopped only once for a lunch break each day. The product looks great and offers so much peace of mind for me as a homeowner who has had to deal with ice dams and peeling shingles. I get happy just thinking about what’s now overhead.
Give home owners a better option for small roofs than they did to us. Extremely disappointed. We are considering having this roof removed at this point and replaced with a roof that is not so horrible to look at and does nothing for the RESALE VALUE of our home. We also considered posting pictures of this roof on FACE BOOK on the Interlock website to warn other potential customers to beware of what can happen to them.
After many years of having my roof repaired or replaced, I decided to call Interlock Industries, Inc. since I had miraculously just received an advertisement in my mail. After Paul Forrer came to my house in July and explained the procedure, etc, I was ready to hire the company. In October, the dumpster and shingles arrived. I was excited. Two men came at the end of October and have diligently worked almost everyday for two weeks. They are precise, neat, and knowledgeable. I am impressed with their work. I can not get over the change in the appearance of my house that their work has made. People slow down and gawk, others have stopped as they " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and have complimented me on it. Thank you for making my home my castle!!!
We are happy with the roof, so far.
Communication with install crew was difficult. No one spoke fluent English. and when received a call from install supervisor it was difficult to understand him.Other then trying to communicate with the crew, the crew worked late into the evening and did a great job. I understand it not easy to find good workers. The crew was polite and work hard and did great work, but a person who could speak English on the crew would be nice.
They were excellent in all ways.
I would like to take the time to thank you for stopping by and showing my family and I what a great product the Interlocking shingles are. We really appreciate the time that you spent here (2hrs.) to go over every inch of your product. You answered every question my family and I had about going with the aluminum shingle vs the asphalt shingle. I also want to say that you were in our home for 2 hours and that you did not spend the whole time talking about your product and that you took the time to talk a bit about yourself and where you were from. It was also nice that you took an interest in knowing a little about my family and I and our backgrounds. That really meant a lot to me. It showed me that you are a classy guy, a great businessman and that you care about the customer. Interlock Industries is very lucky to have a Marketing Manager like you. I will recommend the Interlock roof to anyone that needs a roof! Thank You for a great Product! P.S. THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT!
They could have communicated about existing conditions.
Communications. From start to finish all the players need to know what was agreed on. Initially, they didn't have enough English speaking people, but sent someone out. They need a bi-lingual spokes person.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Brookline
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Brookline, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Brookline.
How does a metal roof handle Brookline's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that traps moisture on asphalt shingles. Brookline averages about 84 cm of snow annually across roughly 76 freeze-thaw cycles per year — a brutal pattern that cracks and curls conventional roofing. Aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade under repeated freezing; ice slides off the hard metal surface rather than locking in place. Optional snow guards can be added to control release on steep pitches, and the panels' 120 mph wind warranty means winter gusts up to 130 km/h won't compromise the installation.
Why do freeze-thaw cycles damage asphalt but not aluminum roofing?
Asphalt absorbs water, expands when frozen, and cracks as it thaws — a cycle that repeats roughly 76 times each Brookline winter. Aluminum roofing doesn't absorb moisture, so it has nothing to expand or contract. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels maintains its structural integrity across temperature swings because the material itself is inert. The self-healing oxide layer — which reforms whenever the surface is scratched — provides continuous corrosion protection through those repeated freeze-thaw events. Over a 30-year lifespan, this resistance to water absorption alone prevents the kind of delamination and splitting that shorten asphalt roof life by half.
Can an aluminum roof rust in New England's wet climate?
No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; the metal naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion, even in Brookline's approximately 1065 mm of annual rainfall. Steel roofing relies on coatings to prevent rust — once the coating cracks, rust develops. Interlock uses 3105-H24 roofing-grade aluminum with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is especially critical in coastal salt-air climates; inland, the aluminum's native oxide layer handles moisture alone. The combination means no rust stains, no maintenance to prevent corrosion, and no gradual failure from oxidation.
How do the interlocking seams keep heavy rain out?
The four-way interlocking design creates overlapping channels that direct water downward and outward, never inward; rain flowing across the roof is mechanically diverted away from seams by the panel geometry itself. Brookline receives about 1065 mm of rainfall yearly, including intense spring storms, so the roof deck beneath also uses solid sheathing and industry-standard underlayment to catch any water that manages past the primary seals. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this installation method meets IBC/IRC code for water shedding. Unlike standing-seam roofs with exposed fasteners or shingle roofs with nailed seams, the Interlock system's overlapping panels mean no fasteners penetrate the weather layer — water cannot follow a fastener hole to the deck below.
Can a metal roof withstand Brookline's winter wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Brookline's typical winter gusts of about 130 km/h. The interlocking geometry means each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors on all four sides — horizontal and vertical seams both resist uplift. The panels are fastened to the roof deck using industry-standard attachment points, and when installed to the specification in ESR-1790, the system has demonstrated UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance and sustained wind performance. Brookline's record gusts do not exceed the 120 mph warranty threshold, so the installation provides a safety margin beyond normal weather extremes.
Does hail damage require expensive roof replacement?
Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In areas with frequent hail, this UL Class 4 rating can qualify homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists damage that would otherwise file claims. Brookline's hail frequency is lower than the Great Plains, but the Class 4 rating means any hail event in the region won't puncture or dent the roof. The aluminum won't dent as easily as steel, and because it cannot rust, even if a hailstone does create a small mark, there's no risk of corrosion initiating at that point. Combined with the non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty, hail damage is simply not a financial concern for the roof's life.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
Metal roofing with energy-efficient colors reflects rather than absorbs solar heat, reducing the temperature under the roof and lowering air-conditioning load. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, certified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Brookline receives about 3109 hours of sunshine annually, so the cumulative effect of reflecting that heat rather than absorbing it — as asphalt does — meaningfully reduces cooling energy through spring, summer, and early fall. Lighter-colored profiles like Aged Copper Penny perform best. The energy-efficiency certification means utility incentives may apply, and over a 30-year roof life, the cooling savings compound significantly against the upfront cost.
Does aluminum metal roofing need structural reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's lightweight aluminum panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile profile) — about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — so the roof deck does not experience the load that would demand expensive reinforcement. Even the Mediterranean Tile profile, which visually replicates heavy ceramic tile, weighs a fraction of the real material. Most existing roofs can accept Interlock panels installed directly over old asphalt shingles or wood, eliminating the tear-off cost and landfill impact. Brookline's older homes often have roof framing sized for asphalt; the aluminum panels fit within those original structural limits while delivering tile or slate aesthetics.
What does a metal roof's lifetime warranty actually cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — in other words, structural and functional failure of the roof material itself. Non-prorated means the full warranty applies for the entire ownership period, not a gradually declining percentage. The warranty transfers once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion, adding significant value at resale. This differs from typical 20- or 30-year asphalt warranties, which are prorated (coverage declines annually) and do not transfer. For a Brookline homeowner planning to stay long-term, the lifetime coverage eliminates the financial uncertainty of eventual roof failure; for those selling, the 50-year transferred term is a documented asset.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?
Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt, which requires inspection every few years, moss/algae treatment, and fastener replacement, aluminum roofing contains no organic materials that degrade or harbor growth. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured by ASTM standards D4214 and D2244), so the coating doesn't require re-sealing or repainting. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced maintenance profile. Brookline's 1065 mm annual rainfall and 84 cm of snow don't create maintenance demands because water drains off the hard surface and doesn't collect in gaps or seams. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., serving since 1999, can inspect the roof if you wish, but the system is engineered to function unattended for decades — no climbing ladders to clean, no caulk to refresh, no underlayment to replace.
