What our customers are saying:
We recently purchased a new roof for our 30 year old home. The original roof on our home was in poor shape and as I work with many contractors in town, I realized that a new asphalt roof would not last the 30 years that the original roof did. We were first introduced to Interlock Industries at the home show at Gillette Stadium. From there we were visited at home by a salesman, Michael Yaniv. He explained how the whole process worked and was very helpful in choosing our roof - the one we ended up with was my least favorite but it works wonderfully with our house and we are very pleased with the final look. The workman completed the work in less than a week - and that included working all day Easter Sunday! Their work ethic and consideration of us and our home is to be commended. They were always pleasant, they worked long days and at the end of each day the work site was completely clean. The took care to avoid damaging any of our shrubs and gardens. The finished roof looks gorgeous and we have already had many comments on our "beautiful new roof." I was also surprised at how quiet it is during rainstorms - and it was tested this past weekend! We highly recommend your company and roof to anyone interested. You can call us at (number removed) if you have any questions.
Interlock metal roofing came within a few weeks after we had agreed to the new roof. They covered all the roofs with plywood. Then a layer of waterproof material. They were very neat picking up after themselves. They used a large magnet to get the nails. The finished job looks wonderful. I also liked that their office was in Walpole just the next town. The only complaint I have is that on the next to last day they worked in between a Thunder storm and pouring rain. I wished they had waited until the roof was dryer to install the metal shingles. Positive: Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value
I would like to take the time to thank you for stopping by and showing my family and I what a great product the Interlocking shingles are. We really appreciate the time that you spent here (2hrs.) to go over every inch of your product. You answered every question my family and I had about going with the aluminum shingle vs the asphalt shingle. I also want to say that you were in our home for 2 hours and that you did not spend the whole time talking about your product and that you took the time to talk a bit about yourself and where you were from. It was also nice that you took an interest in knowing a little about my family and I and our backgrounds. That really meant a lot to me. It showed me that you are a classy guy, a great businessman and that you care about the customer. Interlock Industries is very lucky to have a Marketing Manager like you. I will recommend the Interlock roof to anyone that needs a roof! Thank You for a great Product! P.S. THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Norwood
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Norwood, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Norwood.
Will a metal roof handle Massachusetts freeze-thaw cycles better than asphalt?
Yes — aluminum's non-porous structure eliminates the water absorption that causes asphalt and wood to crack and curl through freeze-thaw cycling. Norwood experiences about 84 freeze-thaw days per year, cycling temperatures around the 0°C mark. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't split, rot, or lose structural integrity as water expands and contracts inside the material. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against cracking and fading, keeps the panel surface sealed throughout these seasonal swings. This durability is why the Guardian Warranty covers splitting and cracking — events that routinely fail asphalt and composite roofs in climates like yours.
How does metal roofing perform under Norwood's heavy snow loads?
Metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because its smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt or wood does. Norwood receives about 75 centimeters of snow annually, and metal's light weight means your roof structure carries far less burden than slate or tile would. An Interlock Slate panel, for example, installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft — about 96% lighter than natural slate — so even substantial snow accumulation doesn't demand structural reinforcement. Snow guards can be added if you want to control shedding patterns. The key advantage: the metal won't degrade under repeated freeze-thaw wetting cycles that decay asphalt shingles, so your snow-handling performance stays consistent year after year.
Why is aluminum roofing better than steel for a wet climate like Norwood?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and creates rust in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that seals the surface and protects the metal underneath. In Norwood's humid maritime-influenced New England climate with about 1,194 mm of annual rainfall, this is a critical distinction. Steel roofing requires constant vigilance and eventually fails in wet climates; aluminum gets stronger as it ages. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides of every panel, adds an extra 30-year warranted barrier against environmental degradation. Even if the coating scratches, the underlying aluminum oxide self-repairs. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations — the material simply doesn't corrode.
Can metal roofing handle Norwood's nor'easters and wind gusts?
Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Norwood's typical wind gusts reach about 135 km/h, and Interlock's engineering handles that. The interlocking design eliminates the weak points where individual shingles can lift or tear away. Compare this to asphalt shingles, which rely on adhesive strips that weaken in UV exposure and cold — a significant liability during New England's severe wind events. The Guardian Warranty covers wind damage, giving you documented protection. Professional installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., which has served the region since 1999, ensures the panels are secured correctly so they perform to their tested specifications.
Will homeowners insurance offer discounts for a hail-rated metal roof?
Many insurers do offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs, and Interlock achieves this highest available hail rating. Class 4 means the roof withstands hailstones up to 1.5 inches in diameter without performance loss, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from that size impact. Since New England occasionally faces severe spring thunderstorms, this rating reduces the financial risk insurers associate with your home. Contact your agent with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss premium reductions. Over a 50-year roof life, hail and impact discounts can offset a meaningful portion of your installation cost, especially compared to asphalt or composite shingles that lose impact resistance over time.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over the roof's lifetime?
Metal roofing has a higher first cost but lower lifetime cost. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in Norwood's climate — meaning you'll buy and tear off your roof 2–3 times in a 50-year period, paying labor, disposal, and material each cycle. Interlock metal roofs come with a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner, transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. You install once, never tear off again, never pay for repeated removal and landfill fees. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and impact loss — all repairs that would cost thousands on aging asphalt. Add Norwood's 1,194 mm annual rainfall and 84 freeze-thaw days, which accelerate asphalt degradation, and the aluminum roof becomes the truly economical choice. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.
What does the Guardian Warranty actually cover and for how long?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This means if any of those failures occur, Interlock covers repair or replacement at no cost to you — there's no schedule of declining coverage over time. The warranty transfers once to the next owner, who receives 50-year coverage from project completion. That transferable term becomes a powerful selling point for resale. In a climate like Norwood's, where 84 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 75 cm of snow put heavy stress on roofing materials, this comprehensive protection shields you against the exact failures that plague asphalt and wood roofs. Because the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, your roof's appearance and performance remain protected through decades of New England weather.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need in Norwood?
Interlock metal roofing requires dramatically less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. No annual inspections for missing or curled shingles, no moss or algae treatment, no sealant reapplication. You don't need to climb on your roof to clear debris or reseal seams. Norwood's about 3,062 annual sunshine hours and 1,194 mm of rainfall naturally rinse the roof clean. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning it resists dirt accumulation and discoloration. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, degrade visibly after 5–10 years in freeze-thaw climates, requiring frequent inspection and patch repairs. Wood shakes need sealing and are prone to rot in wet climates. Tile cracks under freeze-thaw stress. Metal's non-porous surface simply doesn't degrade, so your maintenance calendar stays nearly empty — just annual gutter cleaning like any roof.
Can metal roofing reduce summer cooling costs in Massachusetts?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, which reduces the thermal load your air conditioning must handle on hot days. Aged Copper Penny and other cool-roof-rated profiles achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, compared to asphalt's near-black surface that absorbs and radiates heat into your attic. Norwood receives about 3,062 annual sunshine hours, making solar reflectance meaningful for summer cooling. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance. While New England's summer cooling season is shorter than sunbelt climates, the energy savings compound over decades and improve comfort during heat waves. Combined with the lifetime warranty and never needing replacement, metal roofing delivers ongoing energy efficiency gains that asphalt cannot — asphalt's reflectance degrades significantly by year 5–7, while the Alunar coating is warranted against fading for 30 years.
Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes — aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable, and you install it once and never tear it off for landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually, taking decades to decompose. In a 50-year period, Norwood homeowners typically replace asphalt roofs 2–3 times, each removal generating construction waste, burning fuel for hauling, and consuming new petrochemical materials. Interlock metal roofing breaks this cycle. When your roof does eventually reach end-of-life — potentially beyond your ownership — the aluminum goes into the recycling stream, not a dump. The Guardian Warranty's 50-year transferable term maximizes the roof's useful life, further reducing environmental impact. For homeowners concerned about their carbon footprint and landfill contribution, metal roofing backed by genuine recyclability and multi-decade durability offers a concrete path to responsible stewardship.
