Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Riverside

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Riverside, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Riverside.

Will an aluminum metal roof hold up through Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens when exposed to freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt or wood that crack and curl. Riverside averages about 81 freeze-thaw days per year, making material durability critical. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) was designed for exactly this: the metal expands and contracts predictably without degradation. Your roof won't develop the splits, curling, or delamination that plague traditional shingles after repeated winter cycling. The Guardian warranty covers splitting and cracking for the original owner's lifetime.

Why doesn't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxidation. Instead, aluminum forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched or exposed. In Riverside's roughly 650 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this passive protection is permanent. Steel roofing depends on paint or coatings to survive moisture; if they chip, rust accelerates. Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum is coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides (warranted 30 years against fading), adding a second defense layer that extends life decades beyond the metal's inherent corrosion resistance.

How does an aluminum metal roof handle Riverside's heavy snow and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface prevents freeze-bonding that traps moisture on asphalt. Riverside receives about 130 cm of snow annually; the lightweight aluminum (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) never requires structural reinforcement, so installers can add roof heat tape or snow guards without concern. The panels' interlock design also means no gaps for water to penetrate if ice dams form. When installed to spec, Interlock resists wind gusts up to 120 mph—well above Riverside's typical 98 km/h gust speeds—keeping panels locked even as snow shifts.

Is metal roofing secure in Wright County wind and storms?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications. Riverside's typical gusts reach about 98 km/h, leaving a safety margin of over 100 km/h. The interlock system distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fastener strength alone. This engineering is verified by ICC evaluation (reissued 2025) and Intertek testing. Unlike shingles that can lift at edges during storms, Interlock panels stay mechanically bound to the deck, protecting your home even during the region's worst weather.

Will my homeowner's insurance rate go down with a metal roof that handles hail?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize Class 4 ratings and offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 documentation. Riverside's climate data shows the region experiences significant hail risk typical of the Upper Midwest. Because aluminum doesn't dent easily and resists impact better than asphalt or wood, your home's roof becomes a low-loss asset. File the impact rating with your homeowner's policy to document this protection and potentially lower your annual premium.

Do energy-efficiency metal roofing colors actually reduce cooling costs in Minnesota?

Yes, but the real benefit in Riverside is spring and fall energy savings. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. With about 3030 annual sunshine hours in Riverside and roughly 131 cm of snow per year, you gain significant cooling relief during warmer months without sacrificing insulation under deep winter snow cover. Cool roof coatings work passively—no maintenance needed. Over a 50-year lifespan, the reduced cooling load and lower peak attic temperatures extend your HVAC life and lower utility bills during high-sun periods.

Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?

Almost all existing Riverside homes need zero structural work. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real clay or concrete tile. Even the heaviest Interlock profile requires far less support than slate, wood shake, or tile that might be installed on older homes. You can typically install directly over your existing shingles (saving tear-off costs), which ICC-ES ESR-1790 permits. The aluminum won't sag under Riverside's 130 cm annual snowfall because its strength-to-weight ratio is exceptional. A structural engineer rarely needs to visit; your local Interlock installer can confirm compliance during the site assessment.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require versus asphalt or wood?

Virtually none. Interlock aluminum doesn't split, curl, rot, or degrade like asphalt or wood shake. No annual inspections, no shingle replacement, no coating reapplication. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244) resists Riverside's roughly 650 mm rain and 3030 sunshine hours without degradation. Snow and rain naturally shed; no algae colonizes aluminum like it does asphalt. The Guardian warranty covers splitting, cracking, curling, and rotting for your lifetime, so unexpected repairs aren't a financial surprise. This elimination of maintenance is why many owners call it their 'last roof.'

Is aluminum roofing really more sustainable than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and the roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) itself contains recycled content. When your roof reaches the end of its service life—likely 50+ years for Interlock—the panels are melted and reused, not sent to the landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate hundreds of millions of tons of landfill waste annually in North America. Riverside homeowners installing Interlock break the cycle of 20-year tear-offs and disposal. The CALGreen-verified reduced-maintenance design also means fewer service trips and emissions over the roof's life. Choosing aluminum means your home's final roofing decision is also an environmental one.

How long does it take to install a metal roof in Riverside, and can you install over my old shingles?

Yes, installation typically occurs over your existing roof, saving thousands in tear-off and disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and handles installations per ICC-ES ESR-1790, which permits installation over most existing decks when properly fastened. Most Riverside homes (typically 2000–3000 sq ft) complete installation in 2–4 days, depending on roof complexity and weather. The process begins with site assessment to confirm deck integrity and confirm proper fastening schedules. Because aluminum panels are lightweight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile), installation crews work efficiently, minimizing disruption. Your local installer will provide a timeline after measuring your roof and assessing existing conditions.
