From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Silver Creek

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Silver Creek, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Silver Creek.

How does a metal roof handle Silver Creek's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow more efficiently than asphalt because their smooth, hard surface won't trap moisture the way granules do—critical in a climate that averages about 96 cm of snow yearly and experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, so they hold fast when snow load shifts. Aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade under repeated freeze-thaw stress like asphalt does; it self-heals when scratched. For extra control, snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff patterns.

Why don't aluminum roofs rust, and does that matter in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it physically cannot rust—unlike steel roofing, which oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a protective oxide layer that repairs itself when scratched or exposed. With Silver Creek averaging 683 mm of annual rainfall, this self-healing property means your roof stays intact through wet springs and fall rains without the corrosion cycles that plague iron-based metals. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, adding 30 years of chalking and fading resistance on top of the material's inherent protection.

Will freeze-thaw damage my aluminum roof over time?

No—aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw cycling because it has a high coefficient of thermal expansion that matches its fastening system, so expansion and contraction happen uniformly without cracking or splitting. With about 83 freeze-thaw days per year in Silver Creek, this matters: asphalt and wood shingles develop micro-fractures that grow wider each cycle, but aluminum panels flex without fatigue. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is designed for exactly this climate stress, and the Guardian Warranty covers cracking and splitting—which simply don't occur under normal conditions.

Can my home's frame handle a metal roof, or do I need structural reinforcement?

Almost certainly not—that's one of aluminum's biggest advantages. The Interlock Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, installs at just 0.59 lb per square foot, making it roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Your existing roof structure can easily support this, and you can typically install over your current shingles without removal. Even the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft remains feather-light. By contrast, slate or genuine tile requires expensive structural upgrades. Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation over existing roofs for most residential applications—no costly reinforcement needed.

How does an interlocking metal roof hold up to Minnesota's wind gusts?

The four-way interlocking panel system works like a chain: each panel locks into its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. Interlock roofs are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Silver Creek's typical wind gusts reach about 108 km/h (67 mph), with occasional stronger events—well within the rated range. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating confirms the panels' structural integrity under extreme stress. Because aluminum doesn't warp or split like asphalt or wood, the locks remain tight season after season, even through the spring and fall storm season.

Does a metal roof protect against hail damage, and can it lower my insurance premiums?

Yes on both counts. Interlock roofs carry the highest hail rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating and impact test data. Because Minnesota's climate includes spring and summer storms, this protection directly reduces your risk. Metal's hardness and flexibility mean impacts dent but rarely perforate, whereas asphalt granules tear off on first impact, exposing the mat. Over a 50-year lifespan in a hail-prone region, that difference compounds significantly in claims avoided and premiums saved.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—meaning no deductible or coverage reduction over time. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The next owner receives 50 additional years of coverage, making it a one-time transferable benefit. In practice, aluminum roofs installed since 1998 are still performing flawlessly from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station; the material outlasts fasteners and underlayment. Your roof is warrantied to survive Silver Creek's 683 mm rainfall and 96 cm snow cycles—and then some. This is the last roof you'll install on your home.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really require?

Remarkably little compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum doesn't degrade, split, curl, or rot, so you won't replace damaged shingles or patch rot pockets like you would with asphalt or wood shake. The Alunar finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so repainting isn't necessary. Leaves and debris rinse away in rain (Silver Creek averages 683 mm yearly), and ice dams are less likely because metal sheds meltwater faster than granulated surfaces. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. Occasional gutter cleaning and the same minor upkeep you'd do for any roof—that's it. Your time and money shift from repairs to other priorities.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs?

An energy-efficient Interlock roof with Aged Copper Penny or similar cool colors reflects rather than absorbs solar heat, keeping attic and interior temperatures lower than asphalt's dark surface. The coating achieves thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning more of the sun's heat bounces back before your air conditioning has to work. Over Silver Creek's 3,127 annual sunshine hours, this reflection compounds into measurable cooling savings, especially during warm months. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification is your third-party proof. Over decades, the energy savings offset installation cost—another reason this is the last roof you buy.

How long does an Interlock installation take, and can it be installed over my current roof?

Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity; the interlocking system moves faster than traditional shingle laying because each panel locks into place rather than requiring individual fastening. Yes, it installs over existing asphalt shingles in most cases—no tear-off means no landfill waste and no roofing debris in your yard. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and knows local codes, snow loads, and Wright County permitting. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation specifies installation requirements for your home's pitch and structure. Your installer will confirm whether an inspection or minor prep is needed before the crew arrives.
