What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in French Lake Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in French Lake Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in French Lake Township.
Does metal roofing handle Minnesota snow and ice better than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt's texture, which traps moisture that freezes and refreezes during French Lake Township's roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year. With about 90 cm of snow annually, the lightweight panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) won't sag or create ice dam pressure that heavier materials do. Optional snow guards are available if you want to manage snowmelt strategically. The four-way interlocking system keeps panels secure even when thermal stress from repeated freezing cycles would crack or curl asphalt.
Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones?
Aluminum roofing cannot rust because the material contains no iron. Our panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) that forms a self-healing aluminum oxide layer when exposed to air—this layer repairs itself when scratched, providing continuous protection. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against fading, adds extra defense against Wright County's moisture and temperature swings. Steel roofs, by contrast, require constant maintenance to prevent rust staining and structural failure.
How does freeze-thaw cycling affect metal roofing in Minnesota winters?
Aluminum actually thrives under freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling—problems that plague asphalt and wood shingles. French Lake Township experiences about 81 freeze-thaw days annually, meaning repeated temperature swings from below freezing to above. Aluminum's crystalline structure and high elasticity allow it to flex safely through these cycles for decades. The four-way interlocking panels move independently, so stress doesn't accumulate at fastener points. Asphalt becomes brittle in cold, wood absorbs moisture and splits, but aluminum maintains integrity through the entire winter season year after year.
Can my home's roof frame handle metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement is needed for most homes. Our Mediterranean Tile profile, despite replicating heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is far lighter than slate or traditional materials. Existing asphalt roofing typically weighs 2–4 lb/sq ft, so metal is often lighter than what's already there. Installation can proceed directly over most existing roofs without adding load to the frame. This advantage means you avoid expensive structural engineering and can install metal roofing on older homes where heavy slate or tile would require costly modifications.
Will metal roofing stay secure in Minnesota wind and storms?
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. French Lake Township's typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h with gusts reaching 97 km/h are well within this rating. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This design is why the same panels have been installed on coastal homes facing salt-air hurricanes and on Antarctic research stations. Traditional asphalt shingles, with only two-point fastening, are far more vulnerable to blow-off and flutter damage.
Does metal roofing protect against hail damage, and can it lower my insurance costs?
Our roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panels withstand multiple hail impacts without denting, cracking, or losing protective properties. Many homeowners report insurance premium discounts because the roof won't require claims for hail damage that would total asphalt shingles or slate. In Minnesota's thunderstorm climate, this durability adds real financial protection. Contact your insurer about discounts; many carriers recognize Class 4 metal roofing as a loss-mitigation upgrade and reward it with lower rates over the 30+ year life of the roof.
Does a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Our Cool Roof Rating Council–rated finishes offer thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into living spaces. During French Lake Township's roughly 3,163 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance reduces attic temperatures and cooling demand. While Minnesota summers are mild, the energy benefit compounds over decades—your roof works with your HVAC system to lower utility bills. energy-efficiency certification verifies these thermal properties, and the 30-year Alunar coating warranty ensures reflectance doesn't degrade significantly over time.
What warranty does Interlock Metal Roofing offer, and how long will my roof last?
The Guardian Warranty covers your roof with a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell the home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. This means a roof installed today could protect two owners well into the 2070s. Manufacturing since 1998 in Delta, BC, with installations ranging from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, our track record spans 25+ years in harsh climates. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244) guarantees color and gloss won't fade significantly, so your roof looks new longer.
How is metal roofing installed, and can it go over my existing roof?
Installation proceeds quickly over most existing roofs, saving the cost and landfill impact of tear-off and disposal. Installers attach furring strips or a ventilation layer to create a thermal break, then install the interlocking panels using concealed fasteners that are never exposed to weather. The process takes days rather than weeks because there's no shingle-by-shingle nailing or multiple application phases. Four-way interlocking means each panel locks to its neighbors automatically during installation—no special shimming or alignment adjustments. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001, so local crews understand Minnesota snow loads, wind patterns, and local building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790). Installation timing is flexible; metal roofing installs year-round without the temperature restrictions that limit asphalt installation.
Is metal roofing fire-resistant? Does it meet Minnesota building codes?
Yes on both counts. Aluminum is non-combustible; our roofing achieves Class A fire classification (the highest rating). The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, reissued 2025, confirms compliance with IBC and IRC codes that Minnesota enforces. Class A means the material itself will not ignite, spread flame, or release significant smoke—a critical advantage over asphalt shingles (Class C) or wood shakes. Underwriters Laboratories testing and CALGreen verification back this performance. French Lake Township and Wright County authorities recognize Class A fire ratings, and some homeowners see insurance discounts for this non-combustible upgrade. Beyond code compliance, a metal roof eliminates the fire-spread risk that has forced homeowners to replace wood or architectural shingles in wildfire-adjacent areas.
