Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Eden Lake

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Eden Lake, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Eden Lake.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota winters?

Metal roofs shed snow effectively because their smooth, hard surface prevents it from bonding — crucial in Eden Lake, where you average about 97 cm of snow annually and experience roughly 78 freeze-thaw days per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay rigid through those temperature swings; aluminum doesn't become brittle or crack like asphalt when ice forms and melts repeatedly. The panel's self-healing oxide layer means freeze-thaw cycling won't degrade the material itself. Snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff, but the metal won't warp or split as snow loads shift.

Why does aluminum never rust, and does that matter in Minnesota?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rust requires iron to form. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. In Minnesota's climate of frequent moisture from snow melt, rain (about 641 mm annually), and freeze cycles, this is a real advantage: steel roofing requires constant vigilance against rust spots, especially after hail or installation damage. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy and coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides — the oxide layer plus this coating means you don't inspect for corrosion or apply rust treatments.

Will my metal roof be damaged by Minnesota's freeze-thaw weather?

No — freeze-thaw durability is actually one of aluminum's strengths. With about 78 freeze-thaw days per year in Eden Lake and winter temperatures that cycle above and below freezing repeatedly, materials like wood shingles and asphalt become brittle and crack. Aluminum panels expand and contract uniformly without becoming embrittled; the fastening system accommodates this movement. The Alunar coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244) doesn't peel or crack from cold stress. Concrete or clay tile, by contrast, can spall and fracture. Your roof's structural integrity strengthens year after year, not weakens.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it lower my insurance premium?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In Minnesota's severe weather climate, that durability often qualifies you for homeowner's insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification. A Class 4 roof means you won't file claims for hail damage the way asphalt or wood shake roofs do. Over Eden Lake's roughly 19 km/h average daily winds with gusts to 107 km/h, you're in a region where hail is a real risk. Installing a non-negotiable Class 4 roof can pay for itself partly through lower premiums.

Can a metal roof stand up to Minnesota wind and storm gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec — well above Eden Lake's typical gusts of 107 km/h. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically secured to its neighbors and the deck; wind doesn't separate them or peel them back. This matters in a region where you experience regular gusts and spring storms. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can lift and tear, or tiles, which can rattle loose, the metal panels move as one system. The four-way lock is the engineering difference — it keeps the roof intact during the severe wind events your area sees.

Is my house strong enough for a metal roof, or do I need to reinforce the structure?

Your house almost certainly does not need reinforcement. The Interlock Tile profile, which replicates the appearance of heavy concrete or clay tile, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) and Slate (0.41 lb/sq ft) weigh far less than traditional materials. Most existing roofs in Eden Lake were built to support asphalt shingles plus the weight of snow (you average 97 cm annually); metal roofing often installs directly over your existing shingles, eliminating the tear-off. No structural engineer approval needed, no costly reinforcement, no added framing — the system is designed to work on standard residential framing.

Does a metal roof help cool my house in summer, and is it worth it in Minnesota?

Yes — Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb the sun's heat, with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). Over Eden Lake's roughly 3164 hours of annual sunshine, that reflectivity reduces cooling demand during warm months. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms these panels perform better than asphalt shingles, which absorb heat and transfer it into your attic. While Minnesota winters are long, modern homes with air conditioning still benefit from lower summer utility bills. The reflective coating also means your roof surface stays cooler, extending panel life under UV stress — one reason the Alunar coating carries a 30-year warranty.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than the alternatives. Asphalt shingles need regular inspections for curling, cracking, and lost granules; wood shakes invite moss, rot, and insect damage. Interlock aluminum panels don't rot, split, curl, or degrade from UV or moisture. You don't apply coatings, treatments, or sealants. Debris occasionally collects in valleys or gutters — normal for any roof — but the aluminum surface itself is self-cleaning because it's nonporous and smooth. The Alunar coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years, so color doesn't degrade into a dull patina. In a climate with 641 mm rain and 97 cm snow annually, that passive durability saves you hundreds in maintenance calls over the roof's life.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than tearing off old shingles?

Yes — aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When you install metal over your existing shingles (installation often does this), you avoid the waste hauling and landfill impact of removal. If replacement is necessary, the old shingles still go to landfill, but a metal roof lasts 50+ years — meaning you don't repeat that cycle for generations. Your next owner benefits from a one-time transferable warranty good for 50 years from completion. Aluminum's light weight also reduces transportation emissions and installation labor. Over the roof's lifetime, you'll have made one installation decision, not two or three, reducing the environmental footprint of your home.

How long does Interlock metal roofing last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, it transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. That means you're installing a roof you'll never replace, and your buyer gets decades of coverage afterward. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating is separately warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading. Real-world installations in coastal salt-air environments and even an Antarctic research station demonstrate that aluminum panels outlast asphalt shingles (typically 15–20 years) and match or exceed slate. Eden Lake's 78 annual freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow, and wind won't degrade the material — they're what the panels are engineered to withstand.
