Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Monticello Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Monticello Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Monticello Township.

How does metal roofing handle Monticello's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice damming—critical in Wright County, where you average about 96 cm of snow annually and experience roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike asphalt, which softens and traps meltwater, aluminum's non-porous finish stays rigid through repeated thawing and refreezing. The lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) also means no structural concern from snow load, and optional snow guards can be installed to manage avalanche timing on steep pitches. Your roof stays dry and damage-free through every winter cycle.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in Minnesota winters?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops a transparent oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, meaning minor installation marks or weather exposure won't trigger corrosion. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum is ASTM B209 certified, and every panel receives a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) that further shields the metal from Minnesota's approximately 683 mm of annual rainfall and winter salt exposure. This dual protection ensures your roof resists degradation that would compromise asphalt or steel long before your home's next generation.

Do I need to reinforce my home's framing for a metal tile roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than traditional concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over your existing roof structure without additional support. This dramatic weight advantage means you avoid expensive beam or foundation work that would be mandatory with heavy materials. In Monticello Township, where homes are designed to handle regional snow loads (averaging 96 cm annually), your current framing already exceeds what aluminum tile demands. You gain the authentic appearance of premium materials while keeping installation costs down and installation speed up.

Will a metal roof rated for hail lower my homeowners insurance in Minnesota?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this top-tier rating and offer premium discounts or credits for non-impact-resistant roofs replaced with Class 4 materials. While discount amounts vary by underwriter and policy, the documented durability can make the business case for metal especially compelling when you factor in asphalt's vulnerability to hail damage. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and ask about available credits; the rating is transferable to future owners, adding long-term value.

Can Interlock metal roofing withstand Minnesota wind gusts and storms?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and the four-way interlocking system—where panels lock on all four edges—prevents uplift and flutter. In Monticello Township, typical daily-maximum winds average about 20 km/h with gusts reaching 108 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire panel assembly rather than concentrating stress on fasteners alone, meaning your roof stays secure through the strongest Minnesota storms. This robust resistance, combined with the lightweight design that reduces wind-catching surface area, makes metal roofing a smart choice for durability in Wright County's variable weather.

Do reflective metal roofs save money on cooling in Minnesota?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors feature thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), meaning your roof reflects the heat that conventional asphalt absorbs and traps in your attic. Monticello receives approximately 3,127 hours of sunshine per year—more than enough solar input to create meaningful cooling savings during warmer months. The Cool Roof Rating Council ratings document measurable reductions in roof surface temperature compared to dark asphalt, translating to lower air-conditioning load and reduced energy bills. While Minnesota winters are long, the reflective coating doesn't reduce heating performance; metal roofs perform identically to asphalt in cold-season heat retention.

What's the lifetime warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and does it transfer?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that plague asphalt and wood over decades. The warranty is one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, giving two generations of protection. This transferability is a documented asset when selling, because buyers see a roof backed by decades of remaining coverage rather than one nearing end-of-life. Combined with Interlock's manufacturing track record since 1998 and service in the region since 2001, the warranty reflects confidence that your metal roof will outlast the asphalt shingles you might otherwise replace every 15–20 years.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections, no algae or moss treatment, no sealing or re-coating. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade, curl, and lose granules, or wood shake, which splits and rots (especially critical in Wright County's 683 mm of annual rainfall and 83 freeze-thaw days), aluminum is inert and self-protecting. The two-sided Alunar coating resists weathering for 30 years, and the solid deck plus underlayment eliminate the rain noise concern that makes many homeowners anxious about metal roofs. Your annual inspection is a visual walk-around; no repairs, treatments, or maintenance expenses accumulate over the roof's 50+ year lifespan, making metal the true low-maintenance choice.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the lifetime of my home?

When you compare total cost of ownership—not just installation price—metal is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years; over a 50-year period, you'll remove and landfill multiple roofs while absorbing labor, tear-off, and new-roof costs each cycle. Interlock, installed once and covered by the Guardian Warranty for 50 years (transferable), eliminates that cycle entirely. Factor in zero maintenance expenses, potential insurance discounts from UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, documented energy savings from energy-efficient reflective colors, and resale value premiums from buyers seeking durability in a climate with 96 cm of snow, 108 km/h wind gusts, and 83 annual freeze-thaw days. Over your ownership, the single upfront investment outpaces the cumulative cost of asphalt replacements.

Is metal roofing non-combustible and does it carry a Class A fire rating?

Aluminum is non-combustible—it cannot ignite or support flame—and Interlock metal roofing is available with Class A fire classification, the highest rating for fire resistance. This is especially valuable in Minnesota, where wildfire risk is real and insurance companies recognize non-combustible roofing as a major risk factor. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance) and CALGreen verification confirm that metal roofing meets all current building codes for fire safety. Unlike asphalt shingles, which are flammable, or wood shake, which actively burns, aluminum eliminates this liability entirely. For homeowners in Monticello Township seeking peace of mind and potential insurance recognition, Class A metal roofing is a straightforward upgrade to home safety.
