What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Maple Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Maple Lake, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Maple Lake.
How does a metal roof handle Maple Lake's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, slippery surface sheds snow naturally, and the four-way interlocking panels are engineered to lock snow loads safely in place without buckling. Maple Lake averages about 90 cm of snow annually with roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Aluminum's oxide layer strengthens under stress and never becomes brittle in subfreezing temperatures, so it remains intact through repeated cycles. The lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means your home's structure handles the actual snow weight, not the roofing material's contribution.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does it matter in Minnesota?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—it forms an invisible, self-healing oxide layer instead. When scratched, this layer immediately reforms, providing corrosion protection even in harsh conditions. Minnesota's 748 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling accelerate rust on ferrous metals, but aluminum remains structurally sound indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides, adds 30 years of additional protection against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), ensuring your roof's appearance lasts as long as the metal itself.
Will repeated freezing and thawing damage an aluminum metal roof?
No. Aluminum actually becomes more durable under freeze-thaw stress because its crystal structure strengthens when repeatedly stressed at low temperatures. With about 81 freeze-thaw days per year in Maple Lake, this cycling would cause asphalt to crack, wood to split, and concrete tile to spall—but aluminum's non-porous surface and lack of absorption mean no internal ice formation or expansion damage. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate minute metal movement without stress concentration, so joints remain sealed through decades of temperature swings.
Can my house support a metal roof, or will I need structural work?
Most homes require no reinforcement. The Slate and Shingle profiles install at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates traditional clay or concrete—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than actual tile. Your home was built to carry asphalt shingles (much heavier per layer), so Interlock aluminum installs directly over most existing roofs without structural upgrades. This also saves thousands in framing work and allows you to avoid the expense and waste of tear-off disposal.
Does metal roofing blow off in high winds?
The four-way interlocking panel design locks each sheet to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof surface. Interlock roofs are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Maple Lake's typical wind gusts reach about 97 km/h—well within the roof's capacity. This robust interlocking, combined with code-compliant fastening (ESR-1790), means your roof stays secure even during the rare severe storm, with no risk of panels separating or lifting like traditional shingles.
How does metal roofing perform in hail, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels achieve UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the roof withstands 2-inch steel ball drops from 20 feet without damage. Many insurers recognize this exceptional durability and offer premium discounts (the extent varies by carrier and local claim history). Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent and degrade with every hail event, aluminum's hardness and flexibility absorb impact without permanent deformation, protecting your investment long-term.
Will an aluminum metal roof help keep my home cooler in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 (Cool Roof Rating Council rated). Although Maple Lake's climate is cool—mean temperature 7.9°C with about 3,163 sunshine hours annually—summer cooling loads are real, and reflected heat reduces air-conditioning demand on warm days. Asphalt shingles absorb heat and transfer it into your home; aluminum's reflective coating bounces that energy back to the atmosphere, lowering peak indoor temperatures and shrinking your cooling season cost.
Is metal roofing fire-resistant?
Aluminum is non-combustible—it cannot ignite. Class A fire rating is available for Interlock roofs (the highest classification in ASTM E108), and compliance is documented in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC). This matters if wildfires approach your region or if local building codes require fire-rated materials. Non-combustible roofing also qualifies for potential insurance reductions in fire-prone areas and demonstrates long-term structural integrity to future buyers or lenders.
Is an aluminum metal roof worth the upfront cost?
The lifetime limited, non-prorated Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for the original owner—and transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Metal roofs last 50+ years versus asphalt's 15–25 year cycle. Over 50 years, you buy asphalt 2–3 times; with Interlock, you buy once. Each asphalt replacement includes tear-off labor and landfill fees; Interlock eliminates that recurring cost. Factoring material, labor, and disposal across your home's ownership timeline, a metal roof is substantially cheaper per year of protection.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end of life, it goes into manufacturing supply chains, not landfills. Asphalt shingles contain fiberglass and bitumen, are seldom recycled, and accumulate in landfills for decades. Over a 50-year ownership period in Maple Lake—with ~748 mm annual rainfall contributing to roof wear—you'd dispose of asphalt shingles 2–3 times. Interlock eliminates that cycle entirely. The lighter weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) also reduces transportation fuel. Choosing aluminum means one installation, zero tear-off waste, and a product that re-enters the economy at end of life.
