Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Haven

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Haven, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Haven.

How does a metal roof handle South Haven's 96 cm of annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface won't trap moisture—critical when you're facing about 83 freeze-thaw days per year here. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow and ice slide cleanly without creating dams at the edges. Unlike wood or composite materials, aluminum won't absorb water, split, or degrade when frozen water expands inside the material. This matters in Wright County winters: your roof stays structurally sound year after year while asphalt becomes brittle and loses granules in the cold.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Minnesota winters?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When aluminum is scratched or exposed to air, it forms a thin oxide layer that self-heals, protecting the material underneath. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This matters in Minnesota where rainfall averages 683 mm yearly and temperatures cycle through freezing: steel roofing will oxidize and corrode, but your Interlock roof will look and perform the same decade after decade.

Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal tile roof?

No structural work is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without reinforcing beams or trusses. Compare that to traditional tile, which requires expensive framing upgrades. Because aluminum is so light, installation is faster, labor costs drop, and you can often cover an old asphalt roof in one day, eliminating the mess and expense of a tear-off and haul-away to the landfill.

Will my metal roof hold up to Minnesota wind gusts?

Yes. South Haven experiences typical daily winds around 20 km/h with gusts reaching 108 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel on all four sides, so wind pressure can't peel or lift them. This design is why Interlock roofs have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998—the system simply works in harsh conditions, and your roof won't fail in a spring thunderstorm or winter gust.

Does aluminum metal roofing perform well in hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum is non-combustible and durable under extreme impact, some insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs in hail-prone regions. Wright County's climate includes occasional severe weather, so the combination of proven impact resistance and potential insurance savings can offset a portion of your installation cost over time. Ask your agent about a metal-roof discount before you decide.

Does a metal roof help with cooling costs in summer?

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat away from your home rather than absorbing it like dark asphalt does. Reflectance values reach 0.55 for certain colors, and the aluminum has thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning it radiates absorbed heat efficiently. South Haven averages about 3127 sunshine hours per year, so this reflective property compounds over months of warm weather—your air conditioner runs less, cutting electricity use and extending the life of your cooling system. The Cool Roof Rating Council has rated these colors, so the energy savings are independently verified, not just marketing claims.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and do you have to tear off the old one?

Installation typically takes one to three days depending on roof size and complexity. Because Interlock panels are so light (the Shingle profile installs at 0.41 lb per square foot), you can often install them directly over an existing asphalt roof—no tear-off needed. This saves weeks of mess, hauling, and labor cost. The interlocking system is straightforward: each panel locks to its neighbors, fastening is simple, and experienced installers work efficiently. Interlock has served this region since 2001, so local crews know the local weather, building codes, and the fastest, cleanest way to get your new roof weathertight.

Is a metal roof fire-safe and do metal roofs have a fire rating?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock offers Class A fire classification—the highest rating available. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with International Building Code and International Residential Code fire standards. Some homeowners insurance policies also offer discounts for Class A roofs. If a wildfire or structure fire ever threatens your area, you want a roof that won't ignite or spread flame; aluminum delivers that peace of mind. Many municipalities now require or strongly prefer Class A roofs for new construction or major renovations.

Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and it ends the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that happens every 15 to 25 years with shingles. Every time asphalt is torn off, it's hauled to a landfill; you'll do that three or four times in your lifetime if you stay with shingles. Metal roofing lasts 50+ years with the same appearance and strength, eliminating repeated tear-offs and waste. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance design. Over the lifespan of your home, choosing aluminum means far less material waste and a roof that can be recycled at end-of-life rather than buried.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which lose granules every year and need periodic replacement, or wood shakes, which split and rot and need constant sealing and repair, aluminum doesn't absorb water, doesn't degrade in UV light (thanks to the 30-year Alunar coating), and won't attract mold or insects. You don't power-wash or treat it. Gutters stay cleaner because metal doesn't shed debris the way composition shingles do. Over 50 years, this adds up to huge savings in labor, chemicals, and repairs—plus fewer service calls and no surprises. It's a true set-and-forget roof.
