| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Gold Creek
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Gold Creek, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Gold Creek.
How does a metal roof handle Gold Creek's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice reliably because aluminum's smooth surface resists adhesion, and the four-way interlocking seams prevent water infiltration during Gold Creek's roughly 77 freeze-thaw days per year. The material itself won't crack, split, or curl as asphalt and wood do when water enters and expands in freezing temperatures. At just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile, it poses no structural strain even under the region's average 101 cm of snow, and your installer can add snow guards if desired. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting, so freeze-thaw damage simply isn't a concern.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and corrodes in moisture. Instead, aluminum's oxide layer actually protects the metal beneath, and that layer self-heals when scratched. Gold Creek receives about 557 mm of rain annually, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both panel sides) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofs require paint maintenance to prevent rust; aluminum simply does not. The Guardian warranty covers rusting as a material defect, but corrosion in aluminum roofing is physically impossible, making it ideal for wet climates.
Can a metal roof withstand Gold Creek's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Gold Creek's typical daily-maximum winds reach about 19 km/h, with gusts documented to 103 km/h—well within that performance envelope. The four-way interlocking seams lock adjacent panels together so wind cannot peel or lift individual sections. Installation follows ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (the current building code standard), ensuring proper fastening and seam engagement. Homeowners in comparable Midwest climates have relied on this design for over two decades, and the warranty covers wind damage if it exceeds the rated specification.
Does Interlock metal roofing stand up to Minnesota hail?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 and 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) is extraordinarily durable under impact, and many homeowners find that their insurance carriers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because claims are rare. During hail events, asphalt shingles often sustain hidden damage that voids the warranty; aluminum's non-porous surface cannot absorb moisture through impact damage. If you file a claim, provide your insurer with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation and the UL 2218 Class 4 certificate—these carry significant weight in the underwriting decision.
Will I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?
No. Interlock's aluminum panels are exceptionally lightweight—the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy concrete or clay tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft and is roughly 96% lighter than the authentic tile it mimics. Most existing roof structures in Gold Creek can support this load without reinforcement, which means installation can proceed directly over your current roof deck. A structural engineer may occasionally request review for older or already-compromised framing, but that is rare. This light weight also means lower installation labor and no need for costly temporary bracing during the process. Compare that to slate or clay tile, which require pre-installation structural upgrades, and the economic advantage becomes clear.
Can a metal roof help lower my energy bills in Minnesota?
Interlock metal roofing reduces cooling costs through energy-efficient colors with high solar reflectance—up to 0.55 for Aged Copper Penny—and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning the roof reflects heat rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does. Gold Creek's 3,098 annual sunshine hours make this reflectance genuinely valuable: a light-colored metal roof can be 20–30°F cooler than asphalt on summer days, lowering air-conditioning run time. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates these colors for measurable energy savings. Monthly utility reductions vary by home size and usage, but the reflective benefit compounds over decades and requires no additional technology—just the right color choice at installation.
What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof?
Interlock metal roofing carries The Guardian warranty: a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. In real terms, aluminum roofing installed in 1998 is still performing in harsh coastal salt-air environments and Antarctic research stations—climates far more aggressive than Gold Creek's 101 cm annual snow and 77 freeze-thaw cycles. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 and D2244 measured). Most homeowners will never replace an Interlock roof; it is truly the last roof you buy.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Interlock metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—typically a visual inspection every few years and gutter cleaning after heavy rain or the region's average 101 cm of snow. The non-porous aluminum surface does not absorb moisture, so algae, moss, and rot are not concerns, unlike asphalt or wood shake. You will never need to apply sealant, replace deteriorated shingles, or scrape away curled edges. Gold Creek's roughly 557 mm of annual rain naturally rinses the roof clean, and the Alunar fluorocarbon coating resists discoloration. Most homeowners report spending $0 on maintenance over decades. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation specifically credits aluminum's low-maintenance performance, which also supports CALGreen sustainability standards for reduced material consumption.
Is a metal roof safer in a fire than asphalt shingles?
Aluminum metal roofing achieves Class A fire classification when installed to specification—the highest available rating—because aluminum is non-combustible and will not ignite, spread flame, or contribute fuel to a fire. Asphalt shingles are petroleum-based and burn readily; Class A asphalt roofs rely on the deck beneath them to slow flame spread. Interlock metal roofing removes that fuel component entirely. If a wildfire or structure fire approaches, your roof becomes a barrier rather than a liability. Insurance underwriters recognize this distinction; some carriers offer modest premium reductions for non-combustible roofing. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 documents the non-combustible rating, which is also useful if you ever refinance and the lender requires fire-safety verification.
Who installs Interlock roofing in Gold Creek?
Interlock Metal Roofing has served Wright County and the surrounding region since 2001, so the company understands Gold Creek's winter weather, local building codes, and the specific challenges of installing over existing roofs in cold conditions. Local installers can work with your schedule, coordinate inspections with your municipality, and provide ongoing support if you ever have questions about maintenance or warranty claims. They are familiar with Minnesota's ICC building code adoption and can guide you through any structural assessments your home might require. When you call, mention your specific address in Gold Creek, and the team can discuss your roof's current condition, which profile matches your home's style, and a timeline that works for local weather windows.
