What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wright
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wright, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wright.
How does metal roofing handle Wright's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum panels shed snow effectively because they're slick and expand minimally in the 80 freeze-thaw days Wright experiences annually. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration even when ice forms at the eaves. Unlike asphalt shingles, which become brittle in repeated thaw cycles, aluminum's 3105-H24 alloy maintains flexibility. Wright's 118 cm average annual snowfall won't cause the material to crack, curl, or lose integrity—aluminum simply doesn't embrittle in cold. Snow guards are available if you want to control sliding, but the roof itself handles the load without degradation.
Why does aluminum never rust, and why does that matter in Minnesota?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust chemically—the physics is absolute. When the surface oxidizes (a natural process), the oxide layer self-heals when scratched, protecting the base metal beneath. In Minnesota's 602 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this means zero corrosion from moisture or salt spray carried on winter winds. Steel roofs require constant vigilance; aluminum does not. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years) adds another barrier, but the metal itself is inherently stable over decades of wet, cold cycles.
Will a metal roof hold up in Wright County's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, and Wright's typical wind gusts reach about 97 km/h (60 mph)—well within that safety margin. The interlocking geometry transfers lateral force across multiple panels, not through fasteners alone. Installation to spec ensures each panel engages its neighbors, creating a unified system. Wright's mean wind speeds of 19 km/h with occasional stronger gusts pose no structural challenge. The design has proven in coastal storms and mountain passes, so Minnesota's variable spring and fall gusts are handled routinely.
Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof in Wright?
No reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile profile)—about 96% lighter than the concrete or clay tile they replicate. Most Wright homes can support this load without structural modification; many installations happen over existing asphalt shingles. A professional assessment during consultation will confirm your home's framing, but the lightweight nature of aluminum is precisely why it avoids the reinforcement costs that slate or tile demand. This advantage translates directly to lower installation expense and no disruption to your home's structure.
Do metal roofs save energy in a Minnesota climate?
Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, lowering cooling costs during Wright's approximately 3,000 annual sunshine hours. The Aged Copper Penny finish delivers initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 (Cool Roof Rating Council rated), which means less heat transfer into the attic during warm months. While Wright's mean temperature is modest at 5.7°C, spring and summer cooling loads still add up. Metal roofs don't absorb and re-radiate heat the way asphalt does, reducing your HVAC runtime when days are long and sunny. This efficiency persists across all five profiles available in Wright.
What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you (the original owner), covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion—so a roof installed today protects two households across decades. This reflects the inherent durability of aluminum and the 30-year coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244). Real-world Interlock installations since 1998 have proven performance in climates far harsher than Wright's 118 cm snow and 602 mm rain. No other roofing material offers non-prorated lifetime coverage to the original owner.
Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance break?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 hail is rare in Wright, but when severe weather does strike, the aluminum and four-way interlock design resist puncture and denting far better than asphalt or wood shake. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts on metal roofs, sometimes 20-35% lower rates. You'll want to confirm with your agent, but the superior impact rating often translates to real savings. In a region where unexpected spring or summer storms occur, this protection has tangible value.
How long does installation take, and can you install over my old roof?
Installation timelines depend on roof size and complexity, but Interlock's lightweight aluminum panels install faster than asphalt tear-offs and re-roofs. Many Wright homes qualify for installation over existing shingles—the low weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) doesn't strain framing, and you avoid landfill costs and dust. A solid deck and proper underlayment ensure the roof is as quiet as asphalt in rain, despite metal's reputation. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, will assess your roof during consultation, confirm building code compliance (ESR-1790, current IBC/IRC), and provide a timeline. Over-existing installations typically complete faster than traditional tear-offs.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need in Wright?
Aluminum requires minimal maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. You'll inspect gutters and trim after fall leaf season (like any roof), but you won't replace shingles, repair rot, or deal with moss and algae growth. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating sheds dirt and resists fading over 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244), so no frequent cleaning is necessary. Wright's 602 mm annual rainfall and 80 freeze-thaw cycles won't crack, curl, or weaken the aluminum. Unlike asphalt (which hardens and fails in freeze-thaw climates), wood (which rots), or tile (which cracks), Interlock panels remain maintenance-light for decades. The CALGreen verification recognizes this reduced upkeep.
Is a metal roof more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and can be re-processed indefinitely without loss of properties. Interlock panels end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that occurs every 15–20 years; a metal roof installed once lasts a lifetime (or two, with the transferable warranty). Wright homeowners who replace asphalt shingles send torn materials to landfills; a metal roof eliminates that waste stream. At end of life, Interlock panels return to the recycling stream as valuable aluminum. Across a 50+ year service life in Wright's freeze-thaw climate, where durability matters, one metal roof replacement avoids multiple asphalt cycles and their environmental cost.
