Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rothsay Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rothsay Heights, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rothsay Heights.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way porous shingles do. Rothsay Heights averages about 94 cm of snow annually across 77 freeze-thaw days, which means your roof cycles between wet and frozen conditions constantly. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through that cycle, and the lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow load is never a structural concern. Add snow guards if you want controlled melting off eaves—the choice is yours, not a necessity.

Why does freeze-thaw damage asphalt but not aluminum?

Asphalt absorbs water; when that water freezes, it expands and cracks the shingles from the inside. Aluminum is non-porous and naturally sheds water, so there's nothing to freeze and expand inside the material. Rothsay Heights experiences approximately 77 freeze-thaw cycles yearly, with average annual snowfall around 94 cm—conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation fast. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy has been tested in Antarctic conditions and coastal salt air since 1998; freeze-thaw cycling in Wright County is routine wear.

Can an aluminum roof rust?

No. Aluminum contains no iron, which is what rusts in steel. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air—the same process that protects aluminum boats and aircraft. When scratched, that protective layer re-forms on its own. Under Interlock's 30-year Alunar PVDF coating (applied to both sides), your panels are doubly protected against corrosion, even in Rothsay Heights's 571 mm of annual rain and variable humidity. Rusting is simply not a failure mode you need to plan for.

Will a metal roof blow off in Minnesota wind?

Not if installed to spec. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist 120 mph wind speeds, and local gusts in Rothsay Heights typically reach 98 km/h (about 61 mph)—less than half that rating. The interlocks lock each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. Installation by experienced crews (Interlock has served this region since 2001) ensures every panel seats correctly. Your roof won't move in any weather Wright County produces.

Does a metal roof get damaged by hail?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That performance often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation. Class 4 impact resistance means your roof will shed hail damage that punches through asphalt or wood shake without question. In Minnesota's variable spring weather, that coverage is genuine peace of mind.

Do I need to reinforce my house framing for a metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock's Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates clay or concrete tile that typically weighs 12–15 lb/sq ft—comes in at 0.59 lb/sq ft. That means it's about 96% lighter than the real tile it resembles. Your existing roof structure was built to handle asphalt shingles (1.2–1.5 lb/sq ft), so metal is actually lighter. Installation can happen over your existing roof, avoiding tear-off labor and debris. No structural engineer approval needed in nearly all cases.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?

Far less than asphalt or wood. Metal doesn't curl, crack, split, or rot—the Guardian Warranty covers all those failures because they don't happen. You won't replace shingles every 15 years, clear rotted wood shakes, or patch moss and algae. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance versus traditional materials. Rothsay Heights's 3179 annual sunshine hours and 94 cm of snow mean your roof gets real weather exposure; Interlock panels simply sit there, inert, shedding rain and ice. Occasional debris cleanup is all that's required.

Is aluminum roofing really better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes, measurably. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; when your roof eventually reaches end-of-life in 50+ years, it has scrap value and a path to reuse. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills—tear-off debris from a typical roof is 2–3 tons going to waste every 15–20 years. Over your lifetime, you'd send multiple roofs to the dump; Interlock ends that cycle. The material has been manufactured sustainably in Delta, BC, since 1998, with no toxic runoff or chemical leaching into Rothsay Heights's groundwater.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Calculate it over 50 years, not 20. Asphalt costs less initially but requires replacement three times in that span—labor, disposal, and new materials each time. Metal is a single installation. No maintenance, no repairs, no tear-offs. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner and transferable for 50 years total, so you're buying a roof that outlasts the house. Factor in energy savings from energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance (Aged Copper Penny), reduced cooling costs through Minnesota's 3179 sunshine hours, and potential insurance discounts (hail rating, fire class). Over the long hold, metal wins decisively.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Rothsay Heights?

Interlock Metal Roofing serves Rothsay Heights directly, with 23+ years of experience in the region since 2001. That means local knowledge of Wright County weather, building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance is standard), and installation proven in 94 cm annual snowfall and 77 freeze-thaw cycles. They carry the product warranty and stand behind installation quality. When you need post-installation support or warranty questions, you're calling a team that knows your climate and your roofing system intimately, not a national call center.
