Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lowry Beach

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lowry Beach, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lowry Beach.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice we get in Lowry Beach?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth surface resists water absorption and ice adhesion. With about 91 cm of snow annually and roughly 73 freeze-thaw cycles per year, your roof experiences constant expansion and contraction — aluminum's non-corrosive oxide layer doesn't degrade under this stress, while steel roofs rust from salt-laden melt and asphalt hardens and cracks. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow loads don't strain your structure. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer controlled shedding over edge sloughs.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof over time?

No — freeze-thaw actually favors aluminum. Lowry Beach averages 73 freeze-thaw days yearly, and roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or developing stress fractures the way asphalt shingles and wood shake do. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched by ice or debris, so micro-damage never becomes a corrosion pathway. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking) maintains flexibility across temperature swings from below freezing to summer heat, protecting the underlying metal permanently.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust or corrode?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. This is critical in Lowry Beach, where 635 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles create conditions where steel and vulnerable metals fail. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) has been installed from coastal salt-air environments to an Antarctic research station. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) adds a 30-year warranty layer, ensuring corrosion-free performance decades beyond the asphalt cycle.

Is a metal roof safe in high winds and gusts?

Yes — the four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors, and the warranty guarantees wind resistance up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Lowry Beach's typical gusts reach about 101 km/h, so you're protected well beyond normal conditions. Unlike asphalt shingles (which lift and tear at 45 mph) or standing-seam systems that depend on fasteners alone, Interlock's mechanical interlock distributes wind load across the entire roof plane. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind provisions. The lightweight design also means less inertial force during gusts — a structural advantage asphalt and tile roofs don't have.

What maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, cedar shake, or tile. Asphalt shingles need moss removal, annual inspections, and gutter cleaning every 2–3 years; wood shake splits and rots, requiring staining and replacement of individual shakes; clay and concrete tile develop mold in wet climates like Lowry Beach's 635 mm annual rainfall. Interlock aluminum resists mold, algae, and debris accumulation because of its smooth, non-porous surface and corrosion-free construction. You'll inspect gutters and flashing annually (standard for all roofs), but you won't replace shingles, treat wood, or repair cracks. The CALGreen-verified design explicitly reduces ongoing maintenance burden.

Is a metal roof really cheaper than asphalt over the life of the roof?

Metal costs more upfront but is substantially cheaper over the roof's life. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years, requiring at least one full replacement and two tear-offs to the landfill; metal lasts indefinitely (Guardian Warranty is lifetime non-prorated for the original owner, one-time transferable for 50 years beyond). If you live in your home 30+ years, you'll replace asphalt twice; metal gets replaced zero times. Factor in energy savings (energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity 0.84 reflect heat asphalt absorbs), avoided maintenance, and resale value — homebuyers increasingly expect metal roofs. The last roof you buy is metal; the math favors switching now rather than replacing asphalt twice.

What does the Interlock metal roof warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding resale value because buyers inherit decades of protection. The Alunar coating carries an additional 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). Because aluminum cannot rust and the panels don't degrade from Lowry Beach's 73 annual freeze-thaw cycles or 91 cm of snow, warranty claims are rare. This non-prorated structure means no depreciation schedule — your coverage doesn't weaken over time.

Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need to reinforce the framing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock panels are extraordinarily light — the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, and comparable to asphalt shingles. This means the roof can install directly over most existing roofs without engineering upgrades, saving thousands in structural work. Lowry Beach receives about 91 cm of snow annually; even at peak load, metal weighs a fraction of what slate or tile would require, so your existing framing handles it safely. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code-compliant installation over standard residential structure. If you're replacing asphalt, the metal roof is lighter, so structural capacity actually increases.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes — aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and ends the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Every 15–20 years, asphalt roofs are ripped off and dumped; over a century, one home generates several tons of landfill waste. Metal roofing, installed once and lasting indefinitely, eliminates this waste stream entirely. When eventually recycled (far in the future), aluminum re-enters manufacturing at full value — asphalt cannot be recycled. Lowry Beach's 635 mm annual rainfall and 91 cm of snow mean you experience climate stress that shortens asphalt life; switching to metal reduces your environmental footprint by avoiding multiple replacement cycles. CALGreen verification confirms the product meets reduced-maintenance and sustainability criteria.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can it go over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. Because aluminum panels are lightweight (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft), they install directly over most existing asphalt or wood-shake roofs without removal — no tear-off labor, no debris haul-away, no extended disruption. The four-way interlocking system is mechanically locked, not nailed to the deck, so installation is faster than traditional shingle work. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving the Wright County region since 2001, has installed thousands of roofs in similar climates with 91 cm annual snow and 22 km/h typical winds. A site visit confirms your existing structure can accept the overlay; if removal is needed, we manage that separately. The result is a new roof with minimal downtime.
