Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sandstone Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sandstone Heights, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sandstone Heights.

How does a metal roof handle snow loads with Minnesota's 120 cm annual snowfall?

Interlock's aluminum panels shed snow efficiently while remaining lightweight enough to install over existing roofs without structural reinforcement. At just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile and 0.58 for Shake, the roof won't accumulate the weight burden that asphalt or traditional tile creates during Sandstone Heights' heavy winters. The four-way interlocking system keeps panels locked together through freeze-thaw cycling—your roof experiences about 81 freeze-thaw days per year—so snow movement won't separate seams. Snow guards can be added if desired, and the smooth, hard-anodized surface prevents ice dams from forming as readily as they do on asphalt.

Will Minnesota's freeze-thaw winters damage an aluminum metal roof?

No; aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it expands and contracts uniformly, and its oxide layer self-heals when scratched by temperature cycling. With roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year in Mille Lacs County, your roof experiences constant micro-stresses that would crack traditional tile or cause asphalt to split—but aluminum panels flex and return to shape. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so the finish remains intact through decades of winter stress. This is why Interlock panels have performed reliably from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998.

Can Sandstone Heights' wind gusts damage an interlocked metal roof?

Your roof is engineered to withstand them. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, and Sandstone Heights' typical wind gusts reach about 99 km/h—well within that safety margin. The interlocking system means each panel locks to its neighbors on four sides, so uplift forces that would tear asphalt shingles or dislodge tiles simply tighten the panel grip. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 certifies this performance under building code standards. Combined with proper installation to spec, you get a roof that becomes more secure as wind pressure increases—the opposite of how shingles behave.

Does Interlock's metal roof qualify for hail-damage insurance credits?

Yes, and it's substantial. Interlock achieves the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—meaning it withstands hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer premium discounts because Class 4 roofs rarely require hail claims. The warranty itself covers perforation from hail up to 1.5 inches, so you have both insurance incentive and manufacturer protection. In a region like Sandstone Heights, where severe hail can strike alongside the typical 18 km/h winds and heavier gusts, a Class 4 roof gives you peace of mind and can lower your annual insurance costs—making the roof pay for itself faster.

Will an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Select Interlock colors carry published solar-reflectance listing with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning the roof reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs and converts to cooling load inside your home. In Sandstone Heights, where you enjoy about 3,067 sunshine hours annually, this reflectance compounds over the season. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable heat reflection. Lighter profiles like Slate in reflective finishes will noticeably lower air-conditioning demand compared to standard asphalt or dark metal roofs. You're trading the dark surface that heats your attic for one that bounces solar radiation away—a simple physics advantage that delivers real savings.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Virtually none. Asphalt requires annual inspections for granule loss, gutter cleaning, and moss treatment; traditional tile demands regrouting and individual tile replacement. Interlock's aluminum is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance—no sealing, no staining, no splitting, no curling. Rain and the 3,067 annual sunshine hours in Sandstone Heights naturally clean the Alunar-coated surface. Snow sheds readily without pooling debris. You'll never reroof a section or apply treatment; the coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Over a 50-year lifespan, eliminating maintenance costs and hassles saves thousands compared to materials that require constant upkeep.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a traditional asphalt roof's life?

Absolutely. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Sandstone Heights' climate—meaning you'll replace it 2–3 times in the next 50 years, each tear-off and disposal costing $1,500–$3,000. Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner and remains transferable with a 50-year term for the next owner, effectively ending the replacement cycle. The aluminum won't rust, rot, split, curl, or lose fire resistance—eliminating the hidden costs of repairs, patching, and eventual bulk landfill disposal. When you calculate material, labor, and waste over five decades, the single Interlock installation becomes the last roof you'll buy, saving tens of thousands while delivering superior protection against Mille Lacs County's 705 mm rain and 120 cm snow.

What does 'lifetime' warranty actually cover on Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—every failure mode that ends other roofs' lives. For the original owner, it's non-prorated, meaning you're covered 100% for the material for as long as you own the home. The warranty transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year term from installation completion, adding real resale appeal. This is not a vague 'limited warranty' for 20 years; it's a commitment to the integrity of your roof across multiple generations of ownership. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF finish warranted 30 years against coating failure, you have comprehensive protection backed by a manufacturer in operation since 1998.

Can Interlock install a new metal roof over my existing shingles?

Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh just 0.41 lb/sq ft for Shingle or 0.58 for Shake—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—installation over most existing roofs requires no structural reinforcement. Your contractor removes only the topmost shingle layer if needed, secures the underlayment, and installs the interlocking panels directly over the base structure. This saves weeks of labor versus a full tear-off and eliminates disposal costs that contribute to landfill waste. The four-way interlock system then secures itself against Sandstone Heights' 99 km/h wind gusts and 120 cm annual snowfall. Installation typically takes days rather than weeks, minimizing home disruption while the lightweight design ensures compliance with ICC-ES ESR-1790 building code requirements.
