What our customers are saying:
The communication is incredibly poor, mind-boggling poor. I would suggest improving the communication. I still haven't received my warranty or final payment statement. The sign is still in my yard. I don't want to throw it away. It's a nice big sign, and I'm sure they would like to use it. I didn't threaten them with anything.
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
They were courteous and very efficient. They did a fine job.
They could have improved on the scheduling.
I have no feedback for this rating. I felt they could have improved in communication, specifically a few days notice before the start date. There is nothing else I would like to share.
Communication about the date of the project was difficult to ascertain. The crew was very hard working, courteous and kept the job site clean, but they cut down branches of a tree in my front yard that made me extremely upset.
Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.
They could have improved on communication.
Interlock Roofing- Minneapolis is a very professional team for installation and quality of material! We are very happy! Considering the quality and endurance of the material, the cost isn't high in the long run. It absolutely makes the product much more feasible and reasonable than shingles!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Garrison Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Garrison Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Garrison Township.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow efficiently because their smooth surface and thermal properties prevent ice dam formation—critical in Garrison Township, where you average about 106 cm of snow annually and roughly 74 freeze-thaw days per year. The panels' light weight (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even when snow accumulates. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs heat unevenly and traps moisture, aluminum's non-porous construction resists the damage that repeated freezing and thawing inflict on traditional roofing materials. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding in high-traffic areas.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofs?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which forms a self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air. If scratched, that layer regenerates automatically. This matters in Mille Lacs County because the combination of about 645 mm of annual rain, seasonal snowmelt, and freeze-thaw cycles creates constant moisture exposure. Steel roofs require ongoing maintenance to prevent rust staining and deterioration; aluminum simply doesn't. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides adds another 30-year warranted layer of protection, especially valuable in wet climates.
Can an Interlock metal roof stand up to Minnesota wind gusts?
Yes. The four-way interlocking system creates a unified assembly that resists wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above the typical gusts (around 106 km/h) Garrison Township experiences. Unlike traditional roofing, where wind can peel back edges and compromise individual shingles, Interlock's mechanical interlocks distribute stress across the entire roof plane. The warranty explicitly covers wind resistance to 120 mph, and the design is validated under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for residential and commercial applications across variable wind zones. Local installation by our team since 2001 ensures every panel is secured correctly for maximum performance.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal shingles?
No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roof structures without modification. Even the Shake profile comes in at just 0.58 lb/sq ft. This lightweight design is why many homeowners upgrade to the aesthetic and durability of tile-look roofing without contractor costs for structural work. Building code compliance is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790, which confirms installation over existing sheathing. You get the authentic appearance of heavy traditional roofing with aluminum's engineered efficiency, saving both time and money during installation.
What hail protection does Interlock offer, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest available impact rating—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That resilience frequently qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your provider with the UL 2218 rating and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation. While Garrison Township's climate data doesn't emphasize hail as a primary concern, this rating protects you against the worst-case impacts and demonstrates the material's structural superiority over asphalt. The aluminum's non-brittle nature and the coating's flexibility mean impacts create dents rather than cracks, preserving the roof's integrity through Minnesota's variable spring and summer weather.
What exactly does the Guardian Warranty cover for Interlock roofs?
The Guardian offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no coverage tiers that shrink over time; you're protected from day one through the life of your ownership. When you sell, the warranty transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. This dual-owner protection is rare in roofing. Unlike asphalt, which typically lasts 15-20 years and requires replacement before your mortgage ends, Interlock is engineered as your final roof. The Alunar coating alone carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, measured by ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards.
What's the installation process, and can Interlock go over my existing roof?
Yes, Interlock installs over most existing roof structures without tear-off, reducing labor time and landfill waste. Our local team, serving the region since 2001, inspects your current roof, adds underlayment and ice-and-water protection as needed, then mechanically fastens the four-way interlocking aluminum panels. The lightweight design (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) means faster installation than slate or tile, and the process causes no structural strain. Installation typically completes in days rather than weeks. Building code compliance is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790, and the solid deck plus underlayment creates the same quiet performance as asphalt—no rain noise. Your existing roof becomes a structural base, keeping costs down.
How environmentally responsible is an Interlock metal roof?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels are manufactured to be disassembled and fully reclaimed at end-of-life. Contrast that with asphalt shingles: roughly 20 million tons go to U.S. landfills annually, and they decompose over centuries. Because Interlock installs over your existing roof, you avoid the tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. The panels are manufactured in Delta, BC, and the Alunar coating is PVDF fluorocarbon—durable enough that you won't replace your roof for decades, further reducing environmental impact. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's low-maintenance profile reduces future resource consumption. For homeowners in Garrison Township who value environmental stewardship, choosing a roof that outlasts multiple asphalt replacements is the single most impactful decision you can make.
Is an Interlock metal roof fire-safe?
Interlock aluminum is non-combustible—fire cannot ignite the material itself. Class A fire ratings are available, meeting the strictest fire codes in areas prone to wildfire risk or with strict building requirements. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 validates the roof assembly's fire performance, and the aluminum's inherent non-flammability means your roof won't contribute fuel to a structure fire. This is a genuine safety advantage over wood shake or asphalt roofing, which can ignite under radiant heat. While Garrison Township's winter snowfall (about 106 cm annually) and higher annual rainfall (645 mm) create a lower wildfire environment than drier regions, non-combustibility is still a permanent protective feature that never degrades. Insurance companies recognize this benefit.
Is a metal roof a good financial investment compared to asphalt shingles?
Over the roof's full lifespan, Interlock saves money decisively. Asphalt shingles last 15-20 years and require replacement, often multiple times over a homeowner's tenure. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and typical 40-60 year lifespan mean you install once, then maintain minimal upkeep through decades. Factor in the transferable 50-year warranty for the next owner—buyers recognize that value during resale. You also avoid tear-off labor costs if installing over existing shingles. Energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectivity accumulate year after year in a 3,125-sunshine-hour climate. The Alunar 30-year coating warranty eliminates repainting or resealing expenses. Higher upfront cost? Yes. Lower total cost of ownership? Absolutely. This is the last roof you'll buy.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Garrison Township’s climate?
Yes. Garrison Township averages about 106 cm of snow, 645 mm of rain, roughly 74 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 106 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
