Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Onamia Junction

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Onamia Junction, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Onamia Junction.

How does metal roofing handle Onamia Junction's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because the smooth, slippery surface prevents accumulation that traps moisture. Onamia Junction receives about 99 cm of snow annually across roughly 79 freeze-thaw days—exactly the conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow melt cannot penetrate seams, and the aluminum's flexibility absorbs the expansion and contraction of repeated freezing without splitting. Unlike wood shakes or concrete tile, aluminum won't absorb melt water during thaw cycles, eliminating ice-dam damage at the eaves.

Will a metal roof rust in Minnesota winters?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When aluminum is scratched, its oxide layer self-heals, sealing the exposed surface automatically. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and coated with Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading. With Onamia Junction's 589 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw exposure, steel roofing would require constant repainting; aluminum requires nothing. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers rusting, so corrosion from moisture or road salt is simply impossible with this material.

Can metal roofing withstand Minnesota wind and ice storm gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified roof system warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph. Onamia Junction experiences typical gusts to 106 km/h (about 66 mph), well within warranty limits. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, eliminating the fastener-dependent weak points that fail in asphalt shingles during heavy wind. The lightweight design—at 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means panels stay seated under lateral force without relying on adhesive or sealant that deteriorates. Hail impact combined with wind is common here; the UL 2218 Class 4 rating proves Interlock panels resist both together.

Does metal roofing reduce hail damage claims in Minnesota?

Aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This proven durability often leads insurers to offer premium discounts. Onamia Junction's climate brings the risk of severe hail alongside 99 cm of annual snow and frequent wind gusts; asphalt shingles fail at much smaller impact sizes. Unlike wooden shakes that split or concrete tile that shatters, aluminum's flexibility absorbs the energy of impact without fracturing. Check with your insurance agent—many carriers reduce comprehensive rates when you install a Class 4-rated roof, recognizing that metal roofing eliminates hail-claim costs.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, the heaviest at 0.59 lb/sq ft, is approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most of the region's homes can support this load with their existing framing. Because the Tile profile is so light, Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs—you avoid the cost and debris of tear-off. The lightweight advantage also reduces stress on fascias, gutters, and foundation posts, especially over the 25-year-plus lifespan you'll get here. Compare this to slate roofing, which requires substantial structural upgrades; Interlock delivers the same visual appeal without reinforcement work.

How much maintenance does metal roofing require compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles need regular inspections and repairs after severe weather; wood shakes require treatment against rot and insects. Interlock panels are non-combustible aluminum coated with fluorocarbon—no sealing, staining, or protective treatments. Onamia Junction's 589 mm annual rainfall and 79 freeze-thaw cycles mean asphalt becomes brittle and curls while wood splits from moisture cycling. Metal roofing simply sheds water and resists UV damage without intervention. Gutters still need cleaning, but the roof itself never needs repair from weathering. The Alunar® coating remains durable for 30 years, and aluminum's self-healing oxide layer protects exposed edges indefinitely.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84. These Cool Roof Rating Council ratings mean reflective profiles reduce the heat load asphalt shingles create during warm months. Even in Onamia Junction's cooler climate—mean temperature 6.5°C with about 3139 sunshine hours per year—summer cooling becomes noticeably less demanding. A lighter-colored Slate or Cedar Shingle profile in energy-efficiency finishes deflects solar gain that would otherwise drive air-conditioning use. Over a 25-year roof life, this translates to measurable utility savings, especially in homes with larger south- or west-facing roof sections where the sun exposure is constant.

Can metal roofing be installed over my existing asphalt roof?

Yes, and this is a major cost and environmental advantage. Interlock's lightweight profiles—particularly the Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, nearly 96% lighter than clay—install directly over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive tear-off, disposal, and disposal fees. Your home adds no structural load and avoids the disruption of shingle removal. Interlock's local installer has served the region since 2001 and understands Onamia Junction's climate challenges. The installation typically takes days, not weeks. Proper underlayment and ventilation are installed to manage the roughly 99 cm of annual snow and 589 mm of rainfall. Over-roof installation also creates an additional air gap that improves insulation performance during Minnesota winters.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at the end of its life, the material returns to the recycling stream with full value. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end the tear-off cycle in landfills—millions of tons annually. Interlock panels have no granule loss, no weathering debris, and no tar compounds leaching into soil. Manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, Interlock roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning fewer interventions over the roof's 25+ year lifespan. With Onamia Junction's 79 freeze-thaw days per year, a single asphalt roof often fails in 15–20 years and must be replaced twice in the lifespan of one metal roof. That's two tearoffs to landfills versus zero. Aluminum roofing is the last roof you install, reducing environmental impact dramatically.

Does metal roofing increase home value in Minnesota?

Metal roofing adds curb appeal and durability that buyers recognize and value. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—so you choose the architectural style that complements your home. Unlike asphalt shingles, which buyers view as maintenance-prone, metal roofing signals a long-term investment, especially in a climate like Onamia Junction with 99 cm of snow and 79 freeze-thaw days annually. Buyers understand that a metal roof eliminates costly future replacements. The transferable Guardian Warranty—50 years for the next owner—is a significant selling point. When your home has a visually distinctive, permanently durable roof that requires no maintenance, appraisers and buyers recognize the premium quality, making it easier to recoup the installation investment.
