Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Garrison

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Garrison, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Garrison.

How does a metal roof handle Garrison's 106 cm of annual snow?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents water from refreezing at the edge — a key advantage in a climate that experiences about 74 freeze-thaw days per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow cannot penetrate seams, and the lightweight aluminum (the Cedar Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft) won't accumulate dangerous loads. We can install snow guards to control slide-off if you prefer, but the real win is that freeze-thaw cycling that degrades asphalt shingles leaves aluminum untouched — the metal's oxide layer simply self-heals when stressed.

Will Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

No — aluminum's structural behavior is fundamentally different from materials that absorb moisture and crack. Unlike asphalt, wood, or concrete, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) expands and contracts uniformly without losing integrity, so the roughly 74 annual freeze-thaw days in Garrison won't degrade the panels or joints. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading under those temperature swings, protects against UV and salt damage simultaneously — a critical pairing when winter sunshine (about 3,125 hours annually) accelerates weathering. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, become brittle in cold and crack from thermal cycling.

Can a metal roof withstand Garrison's gusty winters?

Garrison's typical wind gusts reach about 106 km/h, and Interlock roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so securely that wind cannot lift a single panel without breaking it first — the connection is that strong. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, the code standard for residential metal roofing nationwide, certifies this installation method. Compare that to asphalt shingles, which are nailed down and begin to lift and fail at much lower wind speeds. Once Interlock panels are installed, they're not going anywhere, even during the worst seasonal gusts.

Does metal roofing help with hail damage in Minnesota?

Metal roofing's resilience to hail is measurable: Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest hail classification available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies you for homeowner's insurance discounts because metal roofs resist damage that would total an asphalt roof. Garrison experiences spring and summer weather patterns where hail can occur, and aluminum's non-denting hardness means your roof will survive impacts that would puncture or strip away asphalt shingles, triggering costly claims. Many insurers recognize this and adjust premiums accordingly — contact yours with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore savings.

Will an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 — ratings verified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Garrison's 3,125 annual sunshine hours, that reflection cuts the heat load that asphalt absorbs and transmits into your attic and living spaces. Even in a heating-dominated climate, the reflective benefit reduces peak summer cooling demand, and the lightweight aluminum allows better attic ventilation without sagging. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings compound significantly — you're essentially capturing the sun's energy and bouncing it back to space instead of paying to cool against it.

How long does it take to install an Interlock metal roof in Minnesota?

Installation speed depends on roof size and complexity, but because Interlock panels are lightweight — the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — crews work safely and efficiently without structural reinforcement. Most residential roofs install in 2–4 days. A major advantage in Minnesota weather: because the panels are so light, installation can often occur over your existing roof (no tear-off needed in many cases), which shortens the project timeline and eliminates the landfill cost of asphalt removal. Our local installer, serving the region since 2001, can schedule around seasonal rainfall (about 645 mm annually) and advise on the best installation window for your roof's age and condition.

Is an Interlock metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over a 50-year lifespan, aluminum roofing is almost always cheaper than asphalt when you account for replacements. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Minnesota's climate; in that same 50 years, you'd replace asphalt 2–3 times, each time tearing off the old roof (landfill cost) and paying labor again. Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and impact failure — no prorated deductibles — and transfers to the next owner for 50 years. You buy Interlock once; asphalt you buy multiple times. Factor in that metal roofs often qualify for insurance discounts and energy savings, and the total cost of ownership favors metal decisively by your roof's 30th year.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductible or time-based payout reduction. For the next owner, the warranty transfers once and extends 50 years from completion, making your roof a substantial selling point and protecting two generations of ownership. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, tested to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. No asphalt shingle or even many premium metal roof brands offer this combination of scope and transferability — it reflects the durability aluminum delivers in Minnesota's demanding freeze-thaw and UV environment.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Aluminum metal roofs require virtually no maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or traditional tile. Because aluminum cannot rust, there's no rust removal or touch-up painting; the self-healing oxide layer handles that automatically. Garrison's roughly 645 mm of annual rainfall simply rinses the Alunar coating, which is rated for 30 years against chalking and fading. Asphalt shingles require inspection after every severe weather event, often lose granules (exposing bare asphalt to UV), and need repairs before they leak — a cycle repeated every few years in a freeze-thaw climate like Minnesota's. Metal roofs are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning fewer trips up a ladder, no emergency calls after hail or wind, and no degradation to manage over decades. You inspect it visually once a year; that's it.

What metal roof styles are available in Garrison?

Interlock manufactures five distinct profiles: Slate (classic flat appearance), Cedar Shingle (traditional shake aesthetic), Shake (hand-split wood look), Mediterranean Tile (curved barrel tile), and Standing Seam (contemporary vertical ribs). Each profile is available in multiple colors and finishes, so you can match historic Mille Lacs County architecture or design a modern home without compromising durability. Unlike wood shingles or concrete tiles, all five profiles are identical in performance — UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating, 120 mph wind warranty, 30-year coating protection — so you choose your style freely. Whether you want your roof to echo traditional materials or stand out with contemporary design, Interlock gives you that aesthetic choice backed by aluminum's structural and environmental advantages.
