What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Isle Harbor Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Isle Harbor Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Isle Harbor Township.
How does a metal roof handle Isle Harbor Township's 120 cm of annual snowfall?
Aluminum's smooth, low-friction surface naturally sheds snow and ice more readily than asphalt, reducing the weight burden on your structure. With about 120 cm of snow per year and roughly 74 freeze-thaw cycles, the Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration at panel seams—the point where ice dams typically breach traditional roofs. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph, which protects against both heavy snow load and the gusts (averaging 21 km/h with peaks to 108 km/h) that destabilize frozen buildup. Snow guards are available if you prefer controlled shedding.
Will a metal roof hold up through Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes, aluminum's metallurgical structure makes it exceptionally resistant to freeze-thaw damage. Unlike asphalt shingles (which crack and curl) or wood (which splits), aluminum panels expand and contract uniformly without permanent deformation. Isle Harbor Township experiences about 74 freeze-thaw cycles annually across a mean temperature of 6.5°C, making durability through winter critical. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered specifically for this stress. Combined with the Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against damage from thermal cycling), your panels remain sound through decades of Minnesota winters.
Can aluminum roofing rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and degrades steel. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. In Isle Harbor Township's climate, where 650 mm of annual rainfall and regional moisture expose roofing to constant corrosion risk, this distinction matters enormously. Steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance and eventually fails; aluminum panels maintain structural integrity indefinitely. The Alunar® fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds a second barrier, particularly valuable if salt-laden air ever drifts north. This is why Interlock panels perform reliably from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations.
Do metal roof panels stay secure in Minnesota wind gusts?
The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a unified system that resists uplift and lateral forces. Isle Harbor Township's typical wind gusts peak around 108 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking geometry distributes wind pressure across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering is backed by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, confirming code compliance for residential and commercial structures. Over 25 years of installations across North America demonstrate that this system outperforms traditional fastened shingles in high-wind conditions.
Will my existing roof framing support a metal roof, or do I need expensive structural work?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, which is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This lightness means the Tile profile (and all other Interlock profiles) can install directly over most existing roofing, eliminating costly tear-off and disposal. By comparison, the Slate profile weighs about 0.41 lb/sq ft. This weight advantage also reduces long-term strain on supporting joists and walls. Because installation often occurs over existing asphalt without structural modification, total project cost and timeline are typically lower than traditional re-roofing.
Can hail damage a metal roof, and do insurance companies offer discounts?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance means the roof withstands the most severe hail events in North American standards. Many insurance carriers recognize this superior impact performance and offer premium discounts for metal roofing with Class 4 ratings. Given Minnesota's hail risk and the region's mix of severe summer storms, this rating translates to real savings over the roof's lifetime. Document the UL 2218 Class 4 designation when filing your policy; insurers look for this specific certification.
Does a metal roof reduce air conditioning costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it. Rated colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (e.g., Aged Copper Penny), meaning less heat transfers into your attic and living space. While Isle Harbor Township averages about 3,123 sunshine hours per year—enough to benefit from reflective coatings—the cooling advantage is most noticeable during summer months. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance independent of manufacturer claims. Over a 50-year roof life, cumulative savings in cooling costs and HVAC wear contribute to the overall value equation, especially as energy rates rise.
What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof?
Interlock backs your roof with The Guardian—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This warranty is transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from the completion date. In practical terms, a properly installed Interlock roof outlasts multiple generations of asphalt shingles (typically 15-25 years). The Alunar® coating is independently warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 standards). When combined with aluminum's inherent resistance to freeze-thaw cycles—Isle Harbor Township endures about 74 annually—you're looking at a roof that functions reliably for 50+ years with minimal intervention.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?
Interlock aluminum requires far less maintenance than traditional alternatives. Asphalt shingles crack and curl in freeze-thaw cycles (74 per year in Isle Harbor Township); wood shakes rot and split in the region's 650 mm annual rainfall. Concrete and clay tile crack under thermal stress and require periodic repointing of mortar joints. Aluminum panels never rot, never split, and the self-healing oxide layer handles weathering passively. Routine care amounts to annual gutter cleaning and inspection—no re-coating, no re-sealing, no moss treatment, no structural repairs. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demands. Over 50 years, this difference compounds dramatically in time and cost.
Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable, meaning that at end-of-life (decades beyond asphalt's useful span), your roof returns to the aluminum supply chain rather than a landfill. Traditional asphalt shingles—the vast majority of North American roofing waste—are torn off, hauled away, and contribute to landfill accumulation. By choosing aluminum and installing over existing roofing rather than tear-off, you eliminate one of the largest per-household waste streams. A single roof replacement typically generates 1-2 tons of shingle waste; Interlock's overlay capability and eventual recyclability break that cycle. The choice reflects a commitment to resource efficiency while delivering a roof that lasts 50+ years—reducing the frequency of replacement itself.
