Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Green Prairie Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Green Prairie Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Green Prairie Township.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice in Green Prairie Township?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice efficiently because aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties prevent ice dam formation. With about 97 cm of snow annually and roughly 82 freeze-thaw cycles per year in Mille Lacs County, traditional asphalt shingles trap moisture and freeze in layers; Interlock's interlocking aluminum panels allow water to flow freely. The four-way interlocking design creates a unified surface that resists the stress of repeated thaw-freeze expansion, and snow guards can be added to manage larger slides. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in Minnesota winters, aluminum maintains flexibility year-round.

Will freeze-thaw cycling damage an aluminum metal roof in this region?

No—aluminum actually thrives under freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or losing integrity. Mille Lacs County experiences about 82 freeze-thaw cycles annually, along with roughly 97 cm of snow, creating the exact conditions that degrade asphalt and wood shingles. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), engineered to handle this mechanical cycling for decades. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warrantied 30 years against chalking and fading even under these stresses, and the non-prorated lifetime limited warranty covers splitting and cracking—neither of which occur in aluminum.

Can an aluminum metal roof withstand Minnesota wind gusts?

Yes—the four-way interlocking panel design is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Green Prairie Township's typical gusts reach about 97 km/h (60 mph). The interlocking system creates redundant mechanical locks on all four edges of each panel, distributing wind load across the entire roof assembly rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design also exceeds ICC-ES ESR-1790 requirements for the IBC/IRC, covering Minnesota's building code. The panels remain secure in the extreme seasonal wind variation Mille Lacs County experiences, from spring storms to winter cold-fronts, without uplift or separation—a failure mode common in traditional shingle roofs.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is necessary—Interlock's extraordinary light weight eliminates that expense. The Cedar Shingle profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft (roughly 96% lighter than the authentic materials it resembles). This means the roof can install directly over most existing asphalt shingles without decking upgrades. Given Mille Lacs County's annual snow load of about 97 cm, lightweight construction is an advantage—less dead load means the structure handles wet snow more safely. Interlock's rated design allows installation over most existing roofs, turning your current structure into a solid underlayment.

What's the hail rating for aluminum metal roofing, and will it lower my insurance?

Interlock panels achieve UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and are even warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This resilience often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions—contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification. In Minnesota's climate, where spring and summer severe weather is common, this rating protects your roof from impacts that would crack or puncture asphalt shingles or damage traditional tile. The impact resistance is part of the Guardian Warranty coverage, so if hail does cause damage, repairs are covered. This combination of performance and insurance recognition makes the life-cycle cost substantially lower than materials requiring replacement after major storms.

Does an aluminum metal roof reduce cooling costs?

Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, lowering cooling demand on warm days. Selected profiles feature thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Green Prairie Township, with about 3,135 annual sunshine hours, reflective coatings deliver measurable summer energy savings. The aluminum's thermal conductivity also equalizes roof temperature, preventing the hot-spot concentration that drives air-conditioning load in traditional roofing. While Minnesota winters are long and cold (mean 7°C), the reflective benefit in the three summer months, combined with no attic heat loss through the aluminum, improves annual energy balance.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require?

Virtually none—aluminum requires no re-coating, re-sealing, or repairs that asphalt, wood, or clay tile demand routinely. Asphalt shingles curl, crack, and lose granules; wood shakes split and rot; tile cracks and stains. Interlock aluminum panels shed debris naturally, resist mold and algae, and maintain their finish without chemical treatment. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warrantied 30 years against chalking and fading—no touch-ups needed. In Mille Lacs County's 649 mm annual rainfall and 97 cm snow, water simply flows off without creating maintenance cycles. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage means any unexpected issue (splitting, cracking, loss of impact resistance) is covered for the original owner's lifetime, eliminating the escalating repair costs that define traditional roofing lifecycles.

Is an aluminum metal roof more affordable than asphalt over the roof's lifetime?

Yes—metal roofing is the last roof you buy, making it the lowest lifetime cost option. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Minnesota's 82 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 97 cm snow, requiring complete replacement with debris hauling to landfill. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is non-prorated lifetime limited for the original owner, then transferable for 50 years to the next owner, with no expiration on material defects. Over 50 years, you avoid three asphalt replacements (tear-off, hauling, reinstallation, plus disposal fees). The upfront cost is higher, but the absence of replacement cycles, maintenance, emergency repairs, and landfill disposal—plus potential insurance discounts for the UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating—makes aluminum substantially cheaper per year of protection.

Is aluminum roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes—Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, eliminating the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that occurs every 15–20 years in Minnesota's climate. Each traditional shingle replacement in Mille Lacs County generates tons of landfill waste, plus transportation and installation carbon. Aluminum requires no petrochemical-based coatings or frequent re-application (the Alunar fluorocarbon finish is warrantied 30 years, not 5). The manufacturing process, while energy-intensive upfront, is offset by 50+ years of zero-maintenance operation and eventual recycling. With 97 cm of snow and 649 mm of rain annually, water quality also benefits—no asphalt breakdown into stormwater, no granule runoff. Choosing aluminum breaks the disposable-roofing cycle and aligns with Minnesota's resource-conservation priorities.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Green Prairie Township?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001, bringing over two decades of Minnesota experience to Green Prairie Township and surrounding Mille Lacs County.
