From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lora

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lora, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lora.

How does metal roofing handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from penetrating and then expanding during Lora's roughly 77 freeze-thaw days per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are rated to handle significant snow load, and because aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or curling, it survives repeated freezing intact. With about 101 cm of snow annually and mean temperatures near 6°C, your roof won't deteriorate from seasonal cycling the way wood shakes or asphalt eventually do. The panels' light weight (the Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, yet they're engineered for the real stresses Minnesota winters create.

Will freeze-thaw damage aluminum metal roofing in Minnesota winters?

No — aluminum's physical properties make it ideally suited to freeze-thaw stress. Unlike wood, which splits and curls as moisture enters and freezes, or asphalt, which becomes brittle in cold, aluminum doesn't absorb water and won't crack or delaminate during Lora's 77 annual freeze-thaw cycles. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking per ASTM standards) seals the surface, and the material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so salt spray and road chemicals won't initiate corrosion. Your roof's integrity remains constant whether the temperature swings between -10°C and +15°C or holds steady — the metal itself is immune to the damage that ends asphalt and wood roofs' lives.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and weakens. Lora receives about 557 mm of rainfall annually plus significant snowmelt and humidity, conditions that would trigger rust on steel roofing within years. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a protective oxide layer that's thinner than a human hair and self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion from starting. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels is the same material chosen for coastal applications in salt air, and it's proven durable in far harsher moisture environments than Minnesota offers. Your roof won't weaken, stain, or require rust treatment — ever.

How does metal roofing hold up in Minnesota wind gusts and storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification — far exceeding Lora's typical gusts, which average around 19 km/h with extremes near 103 km/h. The mechanical interlock (not clips or exposed fasteners) distributes wind forces across the entire roof panel system, so individual panels can't lift or separate during the strong gusts that occasionally sweep through Mille Lacs County. Each panel's edges grip the adjacent panels on all four sides, creating a unified assembly that moves as one under pressure. After 25+ years of installations from coastal storms to prairie wind, the system has proven its holding power in conditions far worse than you'll encounter here.

Does metal roofing protect against hail damage, and can I get insurance benefits?

Yes — Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's combination of hardness and elasticity means it resists denting and piercing far better than asphalt or wood shakes, which sustain visible damage or leaks from smaller hail. Some insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and ICC-ES report ESR-1790 to discuss your home's profile. Minnesota hail events are unpredictable, but a roof that shrugs off Class 4 impact and carries a lifetime limited warranty gives you protection most homeowners never achieve.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over your roof's lifetime, metal roofing is the last roof you buy. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in Minnesota's climate, requiring tear-off, disposal, and replacement; Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated material coverage) for the original owner and 50 years transferable to the next owner — one replacement cycle versus two or three. When you factor in avoided labor, disposal fees (asphalt landfill costs), and the roof's contribution to resale value, the per-year cost becomes lower than repeated asphalt cycles. Aluminum's lightweight design (the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) often installs directly over your existing roof, eliminating tear-off expenses entirely. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated terms mean you're covered for material defects regardless of age, turning your roof into a long-term asset rather than an expense cycle.

What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?

Aluminum metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. You'll never reseal, repaint, or treat for moss and algae the way asphalt demands every few years. Occasional gutter cleaning (like any roof) and a rinse if debris accumulates is typically all that's needed; the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating resists staining and weathering (30-year warranty, ASTM D4214/D2244 tested) and doesn't degrade under Lora's 101 cm annual snowfall or 557 mm rain. No structural maintenance — no replacing rotted wood, no patching holes, no seasonal inspections for ice dam damage. CALGreen verification confirms reduced-maintenance performance, meaning your time and money stay in your pocket instead of on a ladder.

How long does it take to install metal roofing, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation timelines vary with roof size and complexity, but most residential projects complete in 1–3 days — significantly faster than asphalt re-roofing. A major advantage: because Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (the Slate profile), you can install directly over most existing asphalt or wood shakes without structural reinforcement, eliminating the expensive, messy tear-off and landfill disposal. The four-way interlocking system means fewer fasteners and faster panel-to-panel connections, so crews move efficiently. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, can assess your current roof condition and advise whether a direct install suits your home. This approach saves time, money, and environmental impact in one step.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes — aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels can return to the aluminum stream at end of life, unlike asphalt shingles, which pile into landfills by the millions annually. Lora's 557 mm annual rainfall and seasonal snowmelt mean moisture moves constantly through your roofing system; asphalt eventually absorbs water, rots subfascia and decking, and creates waste during frequent replacements. Aluminum's impermeability ends that cycle — your roof sheds water from day one and never contributes to landfill burden across multiple replacement generations. The light weight also means fewer vehicle trips during installation and lower transportation emissions. Choosing metal roofing isn't just about your home's durability; it's about breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill pattern that most Minnesota homeowners accept as normal.
