Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rudd

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rudd, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rudd.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth surface resists adhesion better than asphalt or wood. With Rudd averaging about 101 cm of snow annually and 77 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means zero structural reinforcement is needed, even when snow loads accumulate. The panels' rigidity prevents warping that can trap meltwater, and optional snow guards can be installed where needed. Unlike heavier slate or tile roofs, aluminum won't stress your framing during freeze-thaw swings.

Will a metal roof survive Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycling?

Yes, aluminum is inherently immune to the damage that freeze-thaw cycles cause to other materials. Rudd experiences roughly 77 freeze-thaw days yearly, which splits asphalt, rots wood shakes, and cracks concrete tile. Interlock aluminum panels contain no iron and cannot rust; the oxide layer that forms on aluminum actually self-heals when scratched, making it indifferent to temperature swings. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading even through this cycling. Your roof won't degrade from repeatedly expanding and contracting.

Can an aluminum roof rust?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to form. Instead, aluminum develops an oxide layer that protects it from corrosion and self-heals when scratched. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, giving extra protection in Rudd's 557 mm of annual rainfall. Even in coastal salt-air environments, these panels have performed flawlessly since 1998. In Minnesota's wet climate, aluminum's corrosion resistance means your roof won't degrade from moisture exposure or freeze-thaw salt residue.

Does a metal roof blow off in Minnesota wind gusts?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well beyond Rudd's typical wind gusts of about 103 km/h. The interlocking design distributes wind pressure across adjacent panels rather than lifting individual shingles like asphalt does. This warranty coverage applies when installed to specification. Combined with Rudd's mean daily-maximum winds around 19 km/h, you can count on this roof staying put through seasonal storms. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers wind-speed resistance, so you have written protection matching your local conditions.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's full lifespan, metal is the last roof you'll buy. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in Rudd's climate and then goes to landfill; you'll buy three or four before selling. Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner. Your only real costs are installation and occasional inspection. Asphalt means tear-off labor, disposal fees, and roof gaps while replacing—compounded over three decades. Metal's initial cost front-loads durability; by year 30, the total cost per year is far lower than cycling through asphalt, especially when you factor in the roof's lifespan beyond a typical ownership period.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from the completion date. Unlike prorated warranties that decrease each year, you pay nothing for covered repairs, whether in year 1 or year 40. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (measured to ASTM standards). This protection reflects the product's 27-year track record here in Minnesota and confidence in aluminum's immunity to the corrosion and freeze-thaw damage that ends other roofs' lives early.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need?

Interlock aluminum requires no painting, recoating, or repairs related to splitting, rotting, or rusting. Asphalt shingles need inspection after heavy snow (101 cm annually in Rudd), wood shakes rot in the freeze-thaw cycle (77 days yearly), and tile cracks under impact. Your only maintenance is occasional gutter cleaning and an annual inspection—the same as any roof. The aluminum won't degrade from Rudd's 557 mm of rainfall, won't need sealing, and won't require sealant reapplication around fasteners. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Over 25–30 years, that means no emergency repairs, no partial replacements, and no emergency contractor calls—just a roof that works silently.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs?

Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates them with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning less heat penetrates your home. In Rudd's 3,098 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance compounds through spring, summer, and fall. Asphalt absorbs heat, warming your attic and driving air-conditioning harder; aluminum's reflective surface keeps interior temperatures lower passively. The energy savings vary by color choice and home orientation, but energy-efficiency certification means you qualify for some utility rebates in Minnesota. It's passive cooling that pays monthly.

Does a metal roof need roof reinforcement?

No. Interlock aluminum is so light that no structural reinforcement is required. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of heavy ceramic tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile. In contrast, traditional tile requires structural upgrades costing thousands. Because Interlock panels weigh less than asphalt shingles in most profiles, you can install over most existing roofs without removing the old roof or reinforcing framing. This eliminates a major cost barrier and weeks of labor. For Rudd homeowners with older homes or budget constraints, aluminum's lightness means a faster, cheaper installation and zero risk of overstressing century-old framing.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Rudd?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Mille Lacs County region since 2001, bringing two decades of experience installing aluminum roofing through Minnesota winters. The crew understands Rudd's snow loads, freeze-thaw demands, and wind patterns. They're trained on four-way interlocking installation, can advise on profile choices, and handle warranty claims directly. Choosing a local, established installer means site inspections before quotes, a warranty partner nearby, and someone familiar with permitting and building code (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance). Contact Interlock Metal Roofing for an estimate; experience matters when your roof will outlast your mortgage.
